Computer Questions Not Worth Their Own Thread II

Magic 8 ball question: Should I upgrade to Windows 7?

I read somewhere that some ex-Microsoft employee had published a PDF-file which showed the lifespans of Window OS', and it had Windows 8 on 1. July 2011. I currently use XP, so I will probably jump both Vista and 7, because I'm not going to pay for two operating systems only a year apart

One that uses a dating system other than the one that originates with Western Christianity. It's 2010 to us. But not in the Hebrew or Chinese or many other calendars.

Windows Vista and Windows 7 were 3 years apart, and the next version of Windows will very likely be in a similar amount of time. I can pretty much guarantee you that Windows 8 isn't getting released by Summer 2011.

If it was, wouldn't you be hearing about it by now already?

Anyone with windows 7 know how I can make the whole thing have windows xp's whole look? I hate the way the file system is in this and also everything has this hideous bluish tint that won't go away.

Really? Because I'm staring at that look right now and I can't find an option to get rid of it.

I wasn't just making that up, the Luna theme has been referred to as the Fisher-Price interface almost since the release of XP.

You can revert to Windows classic theme in Vista/7 through the appearances option window.

Question: What is this? I can't figure out if it's a satire or what.

Edit: I figured out, please delete.

EDIT: Please remind me not to post when I first wake up....

So I'm looking to upgrade my peripherals in the near future.

1) What are the best 24" 1920x1080 monitors in the $200 +/-30 price range? I've seen a variety of Asus and Samsung monitors in that range but don't really know how to intelligently distinguish among them.
2) Does anyone have recommendations on 2.0 or 2.1 speaker systems? What to look for, what to avoid, how much a decent system costs, etc?

:thanx:

I have the Asus VK226H and its a beautiful monitor. Its not gonna have the color reproduction of an IPS panel, but its pretty good for a TN.

If you're looking for a 24", the Asus VK224H is a good choice. It should be right in your budget on Amazon.

For one of my classes I will be doing a research paper about something about history. I asked the teacher if I could do something about computer history. She said yes, and that it would be a good idea to do it about the effect some computer technology had on society. Does anybody have any suggestions? (I wrote some down earlier, but now I can't read it.)

I should mention I have quite a bit of time to decide. The project will not be started until March.
