Computer Questions Not Worth Their Own Thread

I have a computer with Windows XP. If I buy another one, am I allowed to install the XP in that computer if I unistall it from the current one?

Also I have noted that while scanning some files for viruses with F-secure, the program says it has scanned two files although I've selected only one. What could be reason for that? At least in the case of one of them I'm pretty sure that it contains no viruses.

Depends. If its OEM, then technically no. If its retail, all you need is the serial key. You might have problems with the automatic activation though.

Okay -- Suppose you have the retail key, but the CD gets damaged somehow. If you buy another retail CD with a different key, can you use the same CD and different keys to install the OS into two computesr? Just wondering.

I'm getting a new computer, and have XP on my old hdd. Will I be able to just move everything to the new hdd so that XP works or do I have to buy a new OS?

And if I have to get a new OS, I thought about getting a version of Vista which you can uppgrade to Windows 7. Is that a good idea? I usually prefer XP over Vista, but don't know about 7. And by the way, I'm also going to install Linux to it.

You can, but that would be stupid. You can order a replacement install media from MS for like 5$ or you can torrent a copy.

Can anyone explain the joke for someone with very little programming knowledge?

I *think* because CSS should make all the text fit into the box..... But I'm not much of a HTML coder, so I probably don't get it.

...or maybe it should read "Web designers that only test their pages in Internet Explorer are awesome"

If you have your windows CD you can use it on the new drive and then copy your stuff over.

Silly question... how do you pronounce NVIDIA? I googled it but got a bunch of conflicting results...

There was one game where they said it aloud. Salty Mud is right.

I'm am never paying for a copy of windows again:

I might buy a video card and have practically no knowledge about them. So here's couple questions:
1. If computer has AGP-port, can you still install video card in a pci-slot?
2. Does it matter if the RAM in VC is different type than in the motherboard?
3. The descripirion of one card said "dvi/tv-out". What is dvi in this context?
4. I have ordinary VGA-monitor, should I presume that I can plug it to any (most) modern videocards?
5. Is there something else I should know before buying?
