Everything. It's like handing over Texas to Mexico. I wonder how much more can Serbs bear. They've suffered enough and I am sick of kicking them when they're down.

Well, when you cross the borders from Croatia from Montenegro, it's like going one decade back in time. Don't take me wrong, the coast is very nice, historic towns as well. But all you have to do is to take a trip few kilometers into the inland and you get completely different picture. I think Montenegro has a good potentiall, but they need time to develop.

I think Serbs are much more concerned about the Kosovo. Even if Montenegro goes seperate, they will still be close friends with special relations, much like Czech and Slovak republics. Kosovo is a different story. Albanians want a full independence and they are hostile to Serbs. What is worse, Kosovo is a sort of promised holy land for the Serbian nation, something like Jerusalem for the Jews. They will never let it go. If we force them now, they'll just try later.

As far as I know the Serbs are getting Kosovo, at least according to a BBC article I read this morning. Sounds like potential trouble no matter what happens.

I will freely admit I have almost zero idea what is happening ATM in Montenegro or Kosovo. I also have no idea where here is for you.

I mostly made the point that is has in the past been seen as acceptable by some to fight to maintain the integrity of a union. Also tried for a bit of humor, probably not a suitable subject though.

The problem with Kosovo is that neither side is willing to compromise. The Albanians want independence (They won't accept Autonomy status.) While the Serbs want to keep Kosovo firmly united with Serbia.

Not that many here are interested, but this particular paragraph made me curious:

Why does Montenegro want to join w/ Slovenia? Is there ethnic overlap/kinship?

Serbia cant keep Montenegro with half of the population being Serbian while they want to keep Kosovo with a population of 90%+ Albanian, what are they thinking?

It is Montenegrins Montenegro means "Blackmountain"

Why is the name in Spanish? I mean, it is not Italian since it would be "Monte Nero", however in Spanish "Black Mountain" is exactly "Monte Negro".

Montenegro was ind. state even in Middle Ages, so it cannot be "youngest European country"

Problem with Kosovar independence is that such a state would not be economically viable. They are dirt poor and Albania is no better.
