COTM 06 Pre-Game Discussion

99.99% ainwood confused this with the ToE. Only one tech from Philo.
But ainwood's reasoning applies to both.
Oops - yes => One free tech. Unless you're playing Civ II ;)

When will CotM 6 will be avaiable for download actually?
In about 11-12 hours from the timestamp of this post. :)

By William of Orange :
Can't wait to play this one as I prefer the Conquests and GOTM36 has been very frustrating and not much fun

I totally agree with you there. I get sick of having to figure out the best RCP for the game and then work out where my palace jump is going to be etc. Its more fun just placing cities where you want them and I also like the fact that even your most corrupt cities can contribute to your empire and can build infrastructure at more than 1 shield per turn.

Roll on game time! :goodjob: :goodjob:

I agree with you. I've just ignored the RCP in PTW and have yet to do a palace jump. I'm sure that it's negatively impacted on my score, but worrying about it seems to make the game a lot less fun.

Looks like if I do not ask this (what predator/conquest classes are?), we do not get it. Anyway, it probably doesn’t matter since the game will be released in a couple of hours or so. And I go

After all, ainwood is from NZ and probably found another final to watch before he give out the save. Is it Netball this time?

Amazing! There must be two bradleyfeanors playing GOTM. The other one posted an incredibly early finish in COTM5.

He's just being modest, I think.... ;)

Sorry for posting this so late - I don't usually get over here.

England or Portugal are among the best Civs for higher levels, but on Monarch it's close to play without traits. Boring.

But perhaps all the better to judge between play styles and overall skill levels, rather than relying on min/maxing of traits. With this being a large continent game, the EXP versus SEA (scout versus curragh) distinction disappears as well, leaving it to a measure of straight play.

As far as difficulty level goes, while Monarch may be dull to some, it positions the game at a level to keep participation up.

Scout NE-E, worker SE, found in place. (I haven't opened the save yet).

 Exactly. I just finished cotm6. It was the first one I'd played and the first time I beat the game on monarch. With everyone going on about how easy it was I figured I give it a shot, but if it had been a deity game or something I probably wouldn't even of bothered. Crappy score but I just wanted to play. Now if the next one's emperor or something I won't wuss out. :crazyeye:

Quick, go play gotm36. Thats emperor. Got time till 15 november. :D

I've not gone back to GOTM36 since I got to the MA. This one... well I'm not too enthralled about going back to my save. It's one where I'd rather have hammered it out in a single session, should've waited 'til a spare weekend.

Neil.

that's a good idea, but i've already read some of the spoilers. I might just play it anyway, although it would be a tainted victory. I wouldn't submit though. I totally forgot to keep a log or anything this time, but I'll remember next time.

Just want to let people know I've updated my tool to estimate AI research preferences for Conquests here. The usual credits go to alexman for his research.
