COTM 08 Pre-Game Discussion

Any thoughts on GA-triggering if the ancient-age version is avoided? I suppose there's always the "let a stack of EWs get pounded by AI knights until one wins" approach. But failing that it's down to wonders, and that's iffy on Demigod, particularly in Conquests where there's no leader-rush.

No problem with Wonders, IMHO. ToE+Hoover. Works even on Deity usually.

However, Republic Slingshot? I would be surprised to get Philo as first, even without CoL...depends on the other Civs, mainly. If Greece, Korea, Byzantium or England is in, forget it.

Well you can have a few fortified on mountains

Well I'm only a Regent / Monarch level player and my only previous attempt at a COTM ended up with me getting the ambulance award.

However I am going to have a go at this one, but seeing as it is at Demi-god ( I haven't even played emperor before , let alone DG) I will surely be toast before I ever get anywhere near Philo

That's the nice thing about Sumeria - you are likely to survive the Ancient ages; maybe with an OCC Golden Age, though .

With the Enkidu Warrior, we will have the possibility to have an early golden age.
What do you think is best ?
The fact is with a very early GA , you do not have a lot of cities !

If we go scouting with the Enkidu Warrior and come across a barb and we win, will that trigger the GA or is only against rival civs?

Tubby Rower , the GA will trigger only against rival civs. The fight against the barb will allows you to have elite units.

UU's will not trigger GA against barbs. also, you cannot gain a leader by killing a barb.

I'm still wrapping up (ok, somewhere in the middle of) GOTM38 but I thought I'd look through this discussion thread. Good thoughts, and I didn't know about the EW upgrade to Pike; that would have been a bad surprise!
