Alchohal in the Union

There are many types of alchohal in the Union. From sweet Gins, to cheep Ale, Savory Wine and even fruit Cordials there are many makes. However, for Export only a few brands have enough buys to certify their own trade ships.

Smucker's Strawberry Cordials are fizzy and sweet. Made from old Bee-hives and recently from seasoned Gourds from Floridinian traders (EQ HINT HINT), these are the least alchoholic but possibly most enjoyed of the brands, used often with bread or given to children.

Brewster's Gin is another great brand, made from wild berries from the Extremes from Eltiland and Franka while gushed with refined rye mush this Gin became the primary ingrediant for most alchoholic mixes from Norway to Tartessos.

Finally, Huse-Parin wine... a Luxury beyond measure as most of the growth are used as weapons or in ales. But the rare Wine Grapes are worth it: layers upon layers of flavor and a spike of a complement as it goes down. This is the top of the Taster's Chain although most small-scale makers will gladly let you sip their decadeal Creations, as their exports are usually 20 years old or more, although thye started 15 years cheaper whine grown in Norfranka.

The Rise of the Mandate of Heaven and Trial by Combat
Circa about 2300 BC, the justice systems across Jasiran were many and varying. Tribal chiefs tended to mediate disputes themselves, Bradios has appeal to Parliament (which was long and inefficent as they had to judge cases for a whole area), and in some areas both dispusting parties were executed. (This tended to avoid disputes)

The course of events leading up to the change began in 2254 BC, with the usurpation of the Tauren-Cadredecs (Tauren being an ethnicity within Jasiran they were assosiated with). In order to prevent the empire being seen merely as an extenstion of old Tauren, they decided to appeal to popular support- and first was reforming the justice system.

The first idea was implemented in the third month of 2253 BC, with the rapid (and disasterous) extenstion of appeal to Parliament. Each member of Parliament was sent by Presidential order (a new, and actually unconstitutional innovation) to a certain area, in which they would resolve disputes.

In practice, this was a disaster. It triggered what by now was almost a tradition, Parliament revolting. This time, at least briefly, they won- defeating the President in battle, taking the capital, and earning the allegiance of the majority of Governors.

Parliament's control over the country was, however, insecure- while their popular credentials would not need proving, they did not consider it politic to drop the justice question alltogether. Additionally, they needed to either provide, for tradition's sake, a new President, or justify the lack of one.

The doctrine of Mandate of Heaven was invented here. There were various ancestor-worship religions throughout Jasiran, but each agreed that there were even higher beings, known as Gods. It was argued that as the Gods were just, they would refuse to accept illegitimate reigmes in power. Ergo, whoever got into power was the favourite of the Gods- even if you disagreed with them, you should not challenge them.

At one point, the Parliamentary member for Tauren proposed that this principle logically meant tribal by combat amongst the people. He intended this to mean it would be rejected in Parliamentary debates (at this time, while opinion was swinging towards it, the debate being won was not yet inevitable). However, this did not occur- despite it's bad implication, Mandate of Heaven was passed. Parliament wanted to rule.

Parliament's reigme fell apart quickly, and they lost much of their popular support. Appealing to a combination of tradition and Parliament's own Mandate of Heaven principle, a coalition of warlords attacked their power bases in the north, securing the capital in battle.

However, neither Mandate of Heaven nor Trial by Combat lacked appeal to the warlords. Having gained their thrones on the miltia class, they did not care for popular opinion- and Mandate of Heaven meant, in practice, any of them could become President. Two new traditions had been born...

I think so, yes, because I forgot to add the +1 from the trade to your actual stats. Fret not.

Coolness. Orders within 30 mins.

The Bengal Empire was doing well. King Ranjeet ran a very large, expansive empire. Its only downside was that it could not use bronze, but they were working on it. They were incorporating Southeast Asia into their empire slowly but surely. They had explored and claimed three-fourths of the Mekong for their kingdom. Tiger Cavalry explored much and took over many tribes. The Bengali had established relations with the Cambodians, the Viet, the Lan Xang, and the Annam. The Tiger Cavalry were already raiding the Siamese and soon, the Lan Xang would join the empire.

In homeward news, few states remained untouched by Bengal. The strongest of these states was Gujarat, rich in trade with Bengal. Then, there were the Rajasthan, who lived just north of the Gujarati. The Malabar were further south, sitting there trading with Bengal and Gujarat. Then, there were the Tamil, who were sitting down near the end of the peninsula and Sri Lanka. They had conquered the Ceylonese. Then, there were Persians. They had conquered the Baluchi, imposing their “lifestyle” of blue carpet, cologne, golden curtain rods, and hair gel. They had opposed this lifestyle, revolting and killing many Persian leaders trying to find designer sunglasses. The Bengali did not care much about the Persians.

Then, eastward, the Guangxi tribes were attacked by Bengal. They were about to be conquered by their hordes of cavalry. But there was one obstacle standing in their way from taking the rich city of Guangzhou. That was called Nippon.

Nippon was a civilization based in many islands. To counter the Wu in China, they decided to form colonies in other places. They had taken the Phillipines, Taiwan, and a sliver of Chinese lands. They had another colony in China, but that was taken by a Wu that was pushed over the edge. However, it was Nippon’s next colony that would push Bengal near it...

The Annamese refugees poured over the Bengali border in great numbers. Soon, their leader came to Kolkata, seeing Ranjeet in the process.

“RANJEET! RANJEET! Good to see you in person!”

“What is it?”

“The Nipponese! They have conquered us!”

“WHAT!” Ranjeet was pissed. “THEY TOOK PART OF INDOCHINA?”

“Yes. And we were just about to join your empire.”

That gives me an idea...

The Egyptian Expedition

i- Origins:
One of the tougher ethnicities within the broader Jasiran empire was known as the Karungs. A minor tribe (and vassal of the Abos in their heyday), they had a reputation for their ability to last for long periods of time with far less food then other peoples.

During yet another Jasiran civil war, President Galiang (a claimant who had just captured the port town of Chinus, but mostly controlled southwestern nomads) decided to follow the "Cadredec gambit" and claim the moral high ground over his opponents. Amongst other things, he decided to order an expedition to explore the Kabrion islands (OTL Indonesia, Malaysia, East Timor and Papua New Guinea).

The plan was for a long journey, so about halfway through 2256 BC the President (that was the name of the ship) set off with an all-Karung crew. Armed with plenty of supplies, they set off along routes by now either pirate destinations or controlled by rivals in the civil war.

Captain Devisus, a champion of the Tauren-Cadredecs (who would ultimately win the throne), recognised the expedition and decided to attack. His first boarding attack failed, but he managed to cut off the Karungs from their escape route. Content with this, he pursued them into unknown waters and then let them go.

ii- The Journey Prepared:
The ship would discover an island which they would name Quanyouland (OTL Singapore). The former captain of the President, Goodchius, had a dream in which he was made a second President. He had always desired to rule himself, and decided that dominance of a crew was good enough.

Under the pretext of fullfilling their mandate to 'explore the islands', he made a treaty with the natives that permitted them a small settlement and acess rights to return to Jasiran at a later date. In exchange, they gave them maps (although the Quanyouites did not know what maps were before this time) of Jasiran and all known territories.

The President, by now at half-crew, limped to Kakrios (part of OTL Malaysia) and sold similiar maps, as well as ship designs, for wood. Moving further along, they used a mix of maps, mercenary services, diplomacy, bribery, stealing, war, and other services to secure a crew consistent of 2/3rds of intented manpower.

iii- The Decades:
Over the course of the next 60 or so years, the President (later renamed the Goodchius) established Jasiran-esque social institutions- a "Regent Presidency", the hereditary occupant of which appointed a "Regency Parliament", justified under the Mandate of Heaven theory and practicality. This was not entirely good for Jasiran- through this means, peoples as far away as Bengal knew of their existence.

On the other hand, it was very good for the Chiudites (Goodchius's descendants considered themselves a dynasty). Commissioned a second ship, they created a feudal heirachy based on percentage of Karung blood. A split going through the "Indian Cape" led to the second ship attempting (they would ultimately get executed near the island of Quanyou/Chinmaland for treason) to return home with their findings, but the first continued to sail.

By 2300 BC, the remains of a ship crashed off the coast of OTL Nubia. The natives considered them trespassers, and slaughtered them all...
