Criminal huggers

It's probably just a conditioned response. Look: CAPS THEMSELVES ARE FUN!!!

Community service as method of punishment!

The community service will entail visiting various prisons and going cell to cell embracing inmates.

In fact, criminology is a serious matter.

Most people just break the law out of carelessness or when they're young and irresponsible, but some do take to crime as a profession.

And the answer to why might be because it's very profitable. Drug dealing is in the GDP range of profitability taken globally.

And looking at the histories of the crowned heads of England reads very like that of the Mafia.

So, the key to success would seem to be to find some criminal activity that pays well, make a fortune and not get caught. Then assume the reins of government and look down at any criminal behaviour that might rival your own.

But ignore all this rambling seriousness.

Has any one done any studies into the long-term effects of hugging? Criminalized hugging or not?

Yes. I recognize that the foot soldiers' lot is not a happy one. It never is. Whatever the army, the grunt does all the work and takes all the risk. Such is life.

Let me chase some statistics on global drug dealing.

A UN report said "the global drug trade generated an estimated US$321.6 billion in 2003."[1] With a world GDP of US$36 trillion in the same year, the illegal drug trade may be estimated as slightly less than 1% (0.893%) of total global commerce.[citation needed] Consumption of illegal drugs is widespread globally.

We're not talking peanuts (or cashews).
A report by the UK government's drug strategy unit that was subsequently leaked to the press, stated that due to the expensive price of highly addictive drugs heroin and cocaine, that drug use was responsible for the great majority of crime, including 85% for shoplifting, 70-80% of burglaries and 54% of robberies. "The cost of crime committed to support illegal cocaine and heroin habits amounts to £16 billion a year in the UK" (note: this is more than the entire annual UK Home Office budget)

Oh no need. I agree it's a multi billion industry, just thought that was an interesting perspective.

Actually that raises an interesting point. Do ecstasy dealers engage in more criminal hugs than other dealers?

Possibly.

The drug trade is definitely the thing to go in for, though. Drugs are illegal, therefore the profits are high. They produce their own expanding market through addiction. And if you recruit some foot soldier who simply isn't all that good at selling, then you can get him addicted and he'll have to resort to petty crime in order to finance his habit. It's a win-win for you all round. A kind of ultimate pyramid scheme, as well. So it pays to get in the market early.

I never realized until now how annoying ALLCAPS user names are
Have you contemplated adjusting yours?

On topic: while participating in the recent "NYC Terror attack thwarted.." thread, I was kind of asking that question myself.
I mean, if one's knee-jerk response to apprehending a guy who attempted to commit mass murder is throwing an "evil entrapment is evil!" tantrum, then I'm not even sure what is going on.

You already hanging with one! ;) :goodjob::king::king:

Boy, my threads sure get popular here at CivFanatics. If I did this elsewhere, I would get banned......:lol::lol::lol::lol:

Ordinarily it would here too. But the mods don't seem to care about what goes on in the Tavern anymore.

Sorry to blow your ego bubble but the first statement... questionable. :mischief:

For the second statement: popular does not equal good and your thread here has little value. I will not discuss mod actions but on places like Something Awful these types of threads would not last seconds for good reasons.

So wait, you are knowingly engaging in light troll-baggery as a form of petty online PvP by calling for the incarceration of fellow forum goers when they are generous enough to share what might be called less than ideal life experiences? Classy.
