A week or two ago, in Halifax N.S., an 80-some year old hit a girl and killed her :( At the same crosswalk, another girl was killed, and in a newspaper (Im not in Halifax, but I am in N.S.) there was a picture of a police officer driving by while a boy was waiting for her

And the worst part is that it was a school crossing. Are people that much in a hurry that they endanger people's lives

The same thing could happen to me i suppose, i am a reckless driver but i try to be careful and speed at the same time.

Btw whats N.S. stand for? Im not from canada.

Nova Scotia.

Cross walks are actualy more dangerous to cross at then unmarked places.

Some people around here are crazy, and don't care if you're in the middle of a crosswalk, they won't slow down.

That's the thing. On one hand we have drivers that are reckless and crazy. But on the other hand, we got pedestrians taking their sweet ol' time crossing the road knowing full well that there's a car waiting for them to cross. That kind of pedestrian annoys me to no end as the only people that should be crossing the street that slow is if they're elderly, disabled or holding a STOP sign and letting children cross. Of course that's no reason to run them over.

But still just because drivers have to stop doesn't mean pedestrians have to act like they own the road.

When I have to cross the road (often, I deliver papers) I always make sure the driver knows Im there and then I usually run across or walk quickly

And most times the driver doesnt even stop, one time I was crossing the street and the car came out of nowhere I was almost bloody hit!!

Right of way or not, pedestrians need to look both ways before crossing. They don't spend a month in kindergarten on that alone for nothing.

That's exactly what I do...

Also, make sure you have eye contact with the driver. Some drivers dont pay attention

Never make eye contact on the road. If you make eye contact, you lose.

Nah, eye contact and a bag of shopping an you win! If I'm made to leap out of the way we can see if a couple of tins of tomatoes and a bottle of wine cost more than the ejit's windscreen. Oh, and then sue his sorry arse into the deal. And the points on his licence bumping his insurance rates.

I never understand why people go into derranged ego-monster mode when they get behind the wheel. Fellas driving their car slowley onto a crossing where people are walking over the road. Its agressive and illegial. These people outnumber them. They have an asset worth tens of thousands to which a moments work could do a grands damage.

Idiots on so many levels.

Happened just around the corner from me...pretty sad state of affairs...

I just run across cross walks.

Even though I have the right of way, I trust no others.

I like to take that time to look at my watch, and then find a way to kill time whilst remaining the intersection.
