CsebMod - Extended Plot MouseOver Popup [V2] (UI)

I would like to upload a translated spanish version. Maybe is possible a multi-language version.

Awesome mod anyway. Thank you.

Well, I would rather not have multiple versions of the mod be up there in all kinds of languages, but we still have several options here.
1) You send me a spanish localized version of the TextChanges.xml file from the mod and I'll incorporate that into the next version.
2) You create the spanish localized version of the text as a standalone mod. My mod takes its content from the text resources contained in the TextChanges.xml file, so would you create the same keys under a different language node:
That is, say: <Language_es_ES /> instead of <Language_en_US />
it should - in theory - use the proper text for your language. I guess the two mods would just add up nicely.. kinda interesting concept: foreign language addons for mods :)

Anyway, i would prefer you to go with option 2 as it would also be a nice test on how far the modding system can be stretched. If you want any help with it, let me know.

Any chance you can make this work with other languages?

I tried it in italian and i get a bunch of TXT variables instead of the tooltips.
I don't mind reading the tooltips in english and im not asking for a full translation, just for a way to make it work in other languages.

Or, if you can tell us how to modify it ourselves, it will serve as a basis for future mods that will have the same problem.

Thanks

I downloaded this from the mod browser but can't play it with a current save game. Does it really affect the save game as it is just a ui mod?

Can i safely play it on a saved game?
I know that there is a switch in one of the files which lets you do this.

Were I you, I'd just open the text file and translate it myself, then submit the translated texts in this thread. ;)

I wasn't asking for a translation, i was asking if there was a way to make the mod work with other languages, even if the mod itself remains in english.

Even if i'd translate it, it still wouldn't work since clearly there are some different variables for UI "things" in different languages.

It's in the main option menu, theres an option with a delay in seconds, just put it to 0.

Okay, so basically there is a file called TextChanges.xml in the mod, that contains all the text changes inside a language specific tag:
<Language_en_US />

You will have to change that to your own language version. To find the correct tag, open any civilopedia text xml from the game's data directory, and look for the Language tag there.

Also if you translate and post the file or PM it to me, i will include it in the mod.

It clearly should not affect singleplayer games, and it has no effect on save games. I have used the mod both with stock vanilla save games, and also modded saves. As long as all other save affecting mods are turned on (or off) the game should launch fine. Is it a multiplayer save by any chance? It is purely a UI modification, but i never bothered to change to supports multiplayer variable to true in the mod's config, so you might not be able to play MP games / saves with it.

Other than that, it would help if you could specify what "can't play it" actually means. Does it not load?
Does it display an error message?
Does it crash your game?

Let me know what actually happenst and I'll try to help you figure out why it happens or fix it if it is a problem with the mod.

Thanks for the reply. It does work it just doesnt allow a saved game to be loaded because of the switch that doesnt allow current saved games to work with it. I can mod it in myself.
Just didnt want to risk it with my save game.

Extended Plot MouseOver Popup
Known issues:
- Yield predictions might be off when you look at plots outside your culture. This is caused by a weird behavior of the CIV5 API function i use to get the modified plot yields so there is no telling when/how i will be able to fix it. I haven't seen any anomalies with the vanilla game but working on my yield mod caused this bug to pop up. So if you use modded tile yields, do not be surprised if you see some anomalies. Yield predictions do seem to be correct for plots inside your borders (which is where you can build most of the stuff anyway).

I just wanted to say that this is not an issue with your mod, I have this problem in my unmodded vanilla game as well. The tooltips are fine but the yields shown on the game grid sometimes show incorrect values. I think it shows golden age yields for some tiles sometimes, even if you're not in one and the tile is nowhere near your cities.

Nice mod, I like it. I would prefer though to see (when pressing Alt) the yields from all possible improvements for that hex and the names of the techs required to get them in the future. With all the new values in civ 5 plus new mods, I find it a bit confusing to know exactly what to do with all hexes.

geat! the only thing i find a bit not-so-good is that you have to wait some secinds until the info popup appears.

Otherwise it would also be really annoying if it would pop up all the time while moving the cursor over the terrain...

hmmm I think there would be 2 solutions:

  1. Have a static all-the-time info panel somewhere on the screen, (maybe left above the unit info?) or have the info shown constantly in an unused UI area

    or
  2. have a button for calling it

would be nice;)

You have to change this in the game options, put the delay to 0 and the popup appears instantly ;)

Problem. When I hit alt to see the 'with/without' info in the tooltip, it shows me "with farm" even though I can not build a farm on a desert hill.

I really like the use of the alt key. Good thinking.
