Cthulhu

Cthulhu (26/09/10) 2016-10-05

Just plain scary.

Hooray!

I see your Cthulu and raise you one Narwhal

Wow, quite terrifying.:scared:

Thanks for the comments, all. Animating those tentacles really was a hassle so it is nice that the unit is appreciated.

Nobody does moving parts as well as you do, Plotinus. That's just a stunning realization of a very physically complex character. :goodjob::goodjob:

Did you make this with enough detail to do a leaderhead as well? Perhaps?

I don't think the textures mesh well enough at that level for it to work, unfortunately:

<dubious LH mock-up removed>

(This model was a mash-up of epic proportions to start with.)

Too small. You are not portraying Cthulhu in his full glory. Cthulhu fhtagn on you!!
:joke:

I intended to make him bigger, but it proved just impossible to fit him any larger into the available flc size, unfortunately. If only negative offsets were possible, you could have much larger units, but the need to fit him not only so that he is no larger than 240x240 but also so that he sits on a tile located in the middle of that square is very constraining.

I like this Leaderhead, at least if you could post an animated preview we could see better if it works. Perhaps someone could help with the textures problem ?

Great unit. :) I think that the leaderhead would work and that it would not necessarily be a top-quality one, but nevertheless better than some of the worse, but still usable, ones on the site.

Cthulhu revelling in the destruction of something. The dark background becomes illuminated by some mystical light/fire/glow and he raises his ehad to heaven, cackling, enjoying the sheer joy of the wreakment of havoc… well, you get the idea.

Im afraid i have to agree with Plotinus: the model does not look that good in this scale in my view. Still, the unit is amazing ;)

Well, a leaderhead is still better than no leaderhead like we currently have.

So long as it doesn't take an incredibly large amount of time to make (I have no idea how long it would take), it would be worth the effort to make a leaderhead to fill in until someone else can make a better one.
