CTIV-9: The Academians

Rats - too slow to sign on. Will luck and throw in comments when people do stupid things!

@Cosmichail: In like Flynn refers to the 1930s American actor Errol Flynn, one of the first action heroes of Hollywood. I'm not sure--being too young myself--if this is a sexual reference, though I doubt it given the era of its origin. It probably means something like "Errol Flynn was so cool, he was always part of the in-crowd."

Wrong! See, I strike already. Errol Flynn is not American. He is from Tasmania, Australia!

I'll cast my vote for Mao, simply because I haven't played as China much... and I've heard Cho-Ko-Nu's are all cool and stuff...

I know him "Robinhood" great actor, maybe it's just a cultural but we say "In like Flint" but that's the hippie generation or probably geographical.

Thanks Rex are you going to cave in????

EDIT: Wow I didn't mean to get everybody going.....Ruff Hi didn't know he was from land of Aussie...
ChrTh I will check your link out.......:)

Wow, never even figured it'd be about a different Flynn. Thanks for the link, ChrTh. Oh, and I'm really not going to cave, guys. I absolutely can't play another SG right now without missing out on some important responsibilities.

Love to. Can't.

ruff_hi, do you want to take rex's place since he's a coward and (I suspect) a Communist?

You can't call me a communist!

Call me a slob, a fool, an idiot, a pill, a tool, one for the dumb bus, a misanthrop, a nincompoop, a ninny, a sissy, a twirp, a jackass, a communist, a scruffy looking nerf herder, a left-foot-in-the-right-shoe sort of fellow, tweedle dumber, a total loser, a weenie, a dweeb, a wedgie waiting to happen, a yellow snowball fight target, a sloth, a pervert, a rather rude bloke, a communist, a throws-like-a-girl olympian, an imbicile, a simpleton, a nape, a maroon, an ultramaroon, or a communist.

But you can NOT call me a communist!

yes - anything to kick a pinko commie @#%@#$ out of the running. And lets play as the Chinese.

Wish I could have been in this very interesting variant :goodjob: . Lurking mode on
I will advise against building the national epic too early to avoid artists

Ok, this was deliberate, right? If so :goodjob: ... if not, :twitch:

I guess it is :twitch: as I added the 'lets play as chinese' comment a few minutes after posting the first part.

Don't worry, JOE, I'll second your plea for the Virgin Queen. Us Brits have got to stick together!

Lizzy seems like it'd be too easy.

Too easy? Hubris before Nemesis...

Unfortunately I don't think I'll have the time for this one right now. Just started back in college and still getting used to it, plus working 40+ hours. Sorry, though I like ChrTh's games and this one sounds interesting.

Good luck you all.
