Ok, as discussed I sign up the Persians and the English into our war. I move the slider back to 0% science, counting on ToE next turn. Move some workers out of the way. Switch Cincinnati to barracks due next turn if it survives. Double check our defences..., pray to the RNG gods..., and hit return.

IT - Cincinnati survives, 2 Cavs die, after promoting to elite :(. The Indians move a lot of slow unit near. It is still not overwhelming. We might survive...

Not great, but stiil 4fr2 and we're up Combustion on England and trail Mass Production to Persia. We start Radio at (3.7.0) making 13gpt, it'll finish in 13 turns.

I gamble a bit and move some troops back from our province.
I spend some of the money to hurry troops and factories.

IT - India takes Dark Blue, there was just one cav that I missed that could reach it. We'll reclaim it, promiss. War wariness hits us hard, we are religious so we'll change back to republic. (Monarchy will not work because we have so small amount of troops...

The Japanese people revolt.
We reclaim Dark Blue at the cost of a cav and a sword.
Finally time to upgrade the cats to arties.
Leader fish by killing exposed Elephants, to no avail.
Move some troops around and save the game.
I'm sorry to leave it in such a state but these 5 turns are long enough to have done my bit. It is still not hopeless IMO, but difficult certainly.

I have not seen 1 single Persian or English unit :(. We really need the Indians to get distracted.

We may need to switch the Palace pre-build to Intelligence Agency, because I don't think we will have Fission in 17 turns.

And remember we're in Anarchy to switch to republic...

Yeah, Incense to England, but they don't have anything anymore. And of course there's coal Persia doesn't have, but I don't know whether we should. It might make a good incentive for Persia to really hit India...
 
OK I've looked at the save.
You did a really good job Space but we are in it up to our necks here.

Personally I would have gone to get motorised transportation for tanks, if it were me.

I think we need to draft as many conscript infantry as we can on this turn b4 ending our turn, and do the same on the next turn. I would also waste the research on radio and get to MT ASAP.

We will lose cities to begin with, but we should play it defensively. We need to protect the eastern cities which are productive, so that the cities we lose are corrupt.

If you think a city might fall, sell all of it's improvements unless we think we can take it back anytime soon.

But IMO getting MT is our only hope.

Also, forget the UN. That's pie in the sky now. Switch the palace build to Infantry. Defend as best you can till MT then start building tanks. If we can hold on for 10 turns the English and Persians will arrive and that should help. Also the indians will suffer from war weariness since they have no luxes.

Let's see what we can do. I vote we make it our mission in life to eradicate the Indians from our world before the Persians launch their SSS(tm).

Again, well played Space, it must have been an exhausting set of turns.
 
Thanks, Mad, it's good to have ruled in 'interesting times'. You're right about MT, and it can easily be switched since there is only 1 turn of effort in Radio, since we're in the anarchy turn.

Drafting is good but we need to keep tabs on happiness.

Ok, So far the advice seems to be:
turn 0> conscript everywhere, switch tech to MT.
turn1> conscript again.
Don't attack. Try and get troops to front lines to form defensive wall around soft inner core.

switch to republic asap.

Since UN and rep is toast, we don't HAVE to fight a 20 tuirn war, but that is the honourabl thing to do. Can everyone please assume the ritual position, and someone pass the sword !!



WE brought england into war, so we have to fight for 20 turns ? That means we ar going to HAVE to go on the offensive at some point in time, may 15 turns away or so!!)

What about boating back some troops from our other land ?

We are already in anarchy, which should last only 1 turn, then we're able to switch to Republic.
I already shipped back some troops. I don't dare to leave less than 2 troops in the cities in our 'other land' because we can't move troops there easily and England may at some point think it's childs play to take out our cities (which it is of course, so lets wait until she has shipped some of her troops away).

I don't think we need to go in to the offensive, we've fought (and won!) enough to make the allience real.
 
I am not very worried about having to fight India. I think we should atleast take the Pyramids from India in the next 20 turns before singing a peace treaty. How many turns until we can start building tanks? Does India have sources of Oil and Rubber?
 
India does have Rubber, in the slow SoD in one of the pictures you can see Infantry. It could of course be that they bought it of England or Persia. The war will have put a stop to that. :) But I think with the amound of land they have, that its likely they have both. But they did not benefit from the tech trading after ToE, so they won't have MT for some time at least.
It might be worthwhile to use the Palace pre-build for the Intelligence Agency and try to plant a spy.

QUESTION : Osaka palace pre-build ? We aren't going to get a wonder in the next 17 turns. Obviously we could slow it down, but do we want to lose most prod city now ? I can change it to Int Agency and lose nothing, or hospital, police station etc. this is a 40 shield city : cavalry every 2 turns.

Damn - They had a lot of defenders! We lose 2 vet can, 2 elite cav, 2 elite sams. We capture Chittagong, start turning the tide of the war. Chittagong has 2 gems in it's area - hopefully the Indians take a happiness hit.


TECH and TRADE:
Persia now have Mass Prod and FLIGHT. I think we can assume that means they have MT.
Persia will trade 45gpt for coal.
Persia will trade 41 gpt for gems. CAREFUL HERE - these surplus gems are the ones we just captured from Chittagong. If we have a culture flip, we lose them.

ENGLAND still have no techs on us, and still won't trade for Lux's.

MASS PROD on 4 turns. -145 gpt.

Army up to 57 inf, 16 cav, 5 art. We have a catapult and 2 cannon that we captured, and should upgrade.

I think the assult on chittagong proved, cav and sam are gpoing to struggle against inf. We need art to pound them into submission, then we can capture cities.

We've ALMOST passed england on powergraph (3 points behind).

@ChrTh, not much, other than about 6 or 8 techs, 2 wonders, a new war... that's in about the space of 10 turns or so...

You've got "just a little" readin got do.

We definitely need inputs!!

I say we keep the GL for UN. However, that means we can't get any more GL's - is that true ?
We need to decide our long term goals in this war ... is it:
1> try and survive,
2> try and capture some cities ... eg paris with pyramids, and another wonder, and grab some resources / luxes?
3> try and knock india into submission ?
4> destroy india ?
 
Hey Wanderer: Nice!

Taking Chittagong was really important. It will hurt the Indians a lot.

I think we should join some workers into our cities with factories, and try to get them up towards pop20. These should be normal workers, not slaves, as the slaves have no upkeep, and adding foreign nationals to the populations will give us more happiness concerns.

I would make an attempt to take the pyramids city, but I wouldn't expect too much. If we can get around 20 arty and a dozen cavs then this will help.

I would bring all the cavs back from the English mainland, and replace them with conscripted infantry.

I would sign peace as soon as the MPPs expire, or the other Civs make peace. But we should do as much damage as we can in the meantime to try to get something out of the Indians, even if it's only a tech.

If we can steal a tech or two and get our core really productive we might have a shot at a Space win.

The leader (I'm afraid) is next to useless to us at the moment. No-one can win a UN vote now, so IMHO building the UN merely gives us one less pre-build opportunity for the SS. We could save it for Appollo, but thats a long way off yet. Personally I would build a factory with it. Find the most productive city without a factory and build one.

Wanderer, I think you played those 5 turns brilliantly. Well done m8! :goodjob:
 
Ok, I have looked at the save. We're in a good position compared to India. Well done, Wanderer! :)

I *am* a little worried for the southern continent though. We have to keep defending that as well. Especially the cities near England. One defender per city is not enough. England is on warfare production now and maybe will find she's much stronger than we are. Remember the AI knows how our cities are defended (in numbers certainly, if not in strength).

I would us the Palace pre-build for the Intelligence Agency, even if this will cause some shield loss. Osaka maybe can generate people to grow our factory cities.

Edo could be fitted with a factory using the leader. We could also opt for a defending/pillaging army.
