CTR1 -- Jump Without Looking (the Deity Virgin Sacrifice)

I think you'll find , from the powergraph, that our mass conscripting pushed our power up significantly. But that, said, defence is a good thing - let's not ignore that southern continent. Esp since it was difficult to conscript there!

It looks like I am up.

I do not think trading coal to Persia is a good idea. We should let them suffer without it.

I think we should use the GL for an army. I think we will generate another leader before we can build the UN. We can not generate another leader with Tojo sitting on his hands in Kyoto.

I think we should attack on the western front to take the city with the Pyramids.

I am not that concerned about our cities on the southern continent. They are corrupt and not generating much for us.

I vote for taking out India, but that is probably because I am a warmonger at heart. We need to keep atleast one eye on Persia to be sure that they do not pull out into too much of a lead while we are at war.

It's not so much the losing the cities but the fighting two wars that I feel we should be avoiding. Plus that we need to keep the lead we have on England, for them those cities will not be as corrupt and they would have a better shot at a Stupid SS (TM).

0 - 1250 AD
Our palace is due in 12 turns. We do not have any wonders available within 12 turns. Switch palace to Intelligence Agency and lose 112 shields.

IBT Persia and England sign a MPP

1 - 1255 AD
Tojo forms an army in Kyoto
Move troops

IBT Lizzy does not want to renew our Spice deal.

2 - 1260 AD
The year of 1260 AD will forever be remembered as the year of the Spice riots. Cities across the empire began to riot demanding that we renew the Spice deal with England.
Give Lizzy Dyes, Incense, Silks, and Gems for Spices and 6 gpt.
We take Ganges
Our infantry army led the charge and won the first battle.

IBT Renew fur deal with Persia. He gives us furs + 2 gpt for Incense and Dyes
The Persians had captured Rouen, but the Indians retake it.

3 - 1265 AD
We capture Merv
We capture Lyons

IBT The Persians take Rouen and Tours

4 - 1270 AD
We finish Mass Production and begin Motorized Transportation

5 - 1275 AD
We capture Paris, which contains the Pyramids and the Great Lighthouse.
We have troops ready to take New Karachi next turn. Artillery is set-up on the hilltop overlooking the city. It has two rifles and two spears defending it.

I think we will roll over India in about ten turns after we get tanks. The alliance ends in 8 turns

The SAVE

Now that is music to my ears. Beautifully played :goodjob:
I can't wait to get to work to look at the save.

Kind of makes me wish we'd gone all out for a domination win in the first place. Always seem to give the AI too much respect.

Well, I've looked at the save. We really have a chance to win this thing now.

Both India and Persia are in Communism. Long may this continue.

India has two sources of oil, neither connected. I think we should make an effort to keep it that way. Taking Dallas and new Calcutta will also deprive them of coal.

I hope we can generate another leader now as I am still convinced that moving the palace will help us a lot from a corruption point of view, and this will allow us to research a lot quicker.

If Persia sign peace with India I think we should declare on them and take any cities they have on our continent, just to keep them in communism.

We have a couple of luxes, and of course coal that can be traded to Persia. I don't particularly think this is a good idea but it would shave a couple of turns off researching MT.

Does anyone know how long the AI spend in anarchy due to government change?

I was wondering whether we could sign a MA against Persia with India a bit later on, and try to steal a tech from Persia soon.

Can you steal a tech whilst you are at war with that civ?

BTW: I'm glad I didn't have these war turns, as I am useless at modern warfare. You guys have done great!

Hear, hear.

I was thinking along those lines myself.

Mmm, we don't want to let Pesia have 20 turns of extra happiness *and* rails..

Does anyone know how long the AI spend in anarchy due to government change?
I *think* the same rules apply, so it depends on luck, the size of the Civ and the religious trait.

I was wondering whether we could sign a MA against Persia with India a bit later on, and try to steal a tech from Persia soon.
Do we already have an agent in India? Trying to put one in Persia is a good way to piss them off.

Can you steal a tech whilst you are at war with that civ?
If you have an agent installed you can...

edit: removed some blank Space.

The AI have shorter anarchy periods at the higher levels for a government switch.

They had a source of oil connected near Ganges, but I took care of that.

I was thinking that moving the palace would be better than building an army, but I wasn't sure exactly where to move it. I was looking at some former American city west of Kyoto. I think we will generate more leaders than we know what to do with once tanks start rolling out of our factories. The tank's two attacks generate lots of elite tanks.

I would be careful when declaring war on Persia. Persia has MT and Persia signed a mutual protection pact with England on my first turn. It would be nice if we could also sign a MPP with Lizzy, get Xerxes to declare war on us, and let Xerxes to be the first to attack. But I think we should try to get MT before going to war with Xerxes.

Persia already has lots of rails. They must have been getting coal from India. I think they will sign a peace treaty with India soon in order to get coal again. Maybe we should try to take away India's second coal or sell Persia coal the turn before the MA expires. Persia is atleast three techs ahead of us and we should try our best to deny them resources.

Earp, I totally agree with you about waiting for Tanks before trying to let Persia declare us. Too bad they have lots of rail already :(, but a little pillaging can remedy that in due course.

Who's up? ChrTh are you ready to take it? :)

Turn 0 -- 1275 AD

What game is this again? :groucho:

Ok, it looks like we're working on a 'stomp India' plan ... I think I can handle it

Everything looks good, so I hit Enter

Turn 1 -- 1280 AD
MT drops from 10 turns to 7 ... no longer only Persia I guess

We capture New Karachi (Sword v Spear is the final battle  )
We capture Madras

IT:
Indians are able to retake New Karachi

Turn 2 -- 1285 AD
New Karachi once more ours
We take Indus

Serious unhappiness as we lose wines ... and Liz won't trade it
Lux up to 40%

Turn 3 -- 1290 AD
We capture Besancon

More unhappiness, Lux up to 50%

IT: Ivory deal with Xerxes runs out

Turn 4 -- 1295 AD
We capture Pune

I don't have a choice, we're going bankrupt... sigh ... I trade Silks, Gems, and Coal to Persia for 115gpt
I still can't pry Wines from Liz

ERK ... Stupid Brits are blocking my path to New Calcutta

We capture New Bombay

Turn 5 -- 1300 AD

Madras flipped ...
We retake it
We take Kolpahur

Ok, we're preceding apace. I've started moving troops towards Delhi for assault the next couple turns. Our western front is having issues due to counterattacks and bombings from the sea.

I hated to trade with Persia, but I saw no choice. We may want to make peace with India when the Alliances expire in order to get our happiness under control, but I leave that to the next player.

The East:

The Save:
http://www.civfanatics.net/uploads5/CTR1-1300AD.SAV

A couple things:

I think we can wipe out India if we keep at it...our WW may have maxed out.

India seems to have few troops left. My approach towards Delhi has not been seriously challenged, and in the West the Persians have been doing a good job of killing any errant Cavalry.

We don't need to build UN anymore; barring setbacks in the southern continent, we're one of the two choices.

I still fear a Cultural Victory by Persia....I say we attack them before we attack Liz, but that's later in the game.

OMT: I didn't trade Ivory back to the Persians because I was trying to get Wines from Liz; we may just want to trade them to Persia to get some more cash so we can actually finish MT in 8 turns.

Solid, yes, but not great. My biggest  was thinking Samurai had 3 moves (I had just finished my turn in a Chinese SG) ... plus I think I got some workers captured, but I'm not sure, the animation was off and it blew by me.

I also need to get a better grip on sequencing assaults better (road with workers if possible, fire artillery if able, attack), a couple of times if I had thought it through better, I would've been able to make better progress, I feel.

Yeah, warfare needs a different set of abilities, logistics is a big part of that. That's why I like railroads, and hate ancient age warring :), with rails you can get away with mistakes in that area.

But this is where this SG was for. If someone would have told me we would survive a jungle start on Deity this long I would have told him to dream on... :).

I think we do need to acknowledge that we've done well, and that a win isn't out of our reach. Hard work, maybe, but then if hard work scared us, non of us would have taken up the call.

Banzaiiii !!!!

Hey guys, just an FYI: I'm heading to the beach tomorrow, so I'll be out of touch until Monday afternoon (East Coast US time) ... it probably won't get around to me before then, but if it does go ahead and skip if you want. This time I won't be late coming back
