Well if people beat that then fair enough. I am finished now.

Initially I completely misunderstood question 10. I didn't realise that it was a case of ANY number with ANY letter. It's a very cunning question actually, given that these guys were real multi-talented men. Fortunately for me I just spent last week reading all about these guys  .

So thanks for that Luc, great timing while it's fresh in my mind :D . About as lucky as I was with some of my guesses! I'm still staggered I scored full marks on some picture clues which were Sherlock Holmes jobs :groucho:! Hazzah!
Well since you succesfully defended what I though to be an answer of doubtful value, your official score is now 16. :hatsoff:
And qualified guesses are one of the hallmarks of a great mind, I have more than once resorted to that in these quizzes myself.. :D

If there is any more defending to be done, do please let me know. :D Those guys are fascinating and I'll happily expand those epithets.

You are ever the modest one Luc .

Let me thank you again for asking about some of my favourite areas in history and also about Amin Maalouf, who I love but had sadly forgotten about until dealing with yor quiz. I'm happy for you to make a habit of these kind of things.

Well, this forum could need some articles on this topic, so if you feel for it, just go ahead. I think many of us would be delighted to read about those most worthy men.

You are ever the modest one Luc .

You're most welcome :)

And oryctolagus goes into second place, pushing his score up to 13.
Which give us Rambuchan 16
oryctolagus 13
YNCS 10
EDIT: And the last entry Plotinus 4, but the first to score points on # 17 :goodjob:

Ciceronian also submitted and scored four so far, and thetrooper has "threatened" to submit later...
Rambuchan still reigns supreme, but for how long?
Rambuchan 16
oryctolagus 13
YNCS 10
Ciceronian & Plotinus 4

Oouch
I was just out for a while and completely forgot.
Anyway it is fixed now so you can try again.

Actually I got lucky in the questions chosen. There were 3 about the medieval Arabic world and this was actually 2 of my topics at Uni. And Amin Maalouf is actually well-known in France and his novels are even advised readings at Uni (normally historical novels aren't in France). I started with The crusades by the Muslims then onto others (most actually) that I cannot quote here and now.
That gives quite a bunch of points already. On many others I failed miserably (like the tool !).

I bet you have more tools than we want to know... Go Go Rambu Arm! :)
Yes I'd start up a thread about them but it would just get closed down. BTW - good to have you joining in the PM quiz thang. :)

And @LouLong: Please let me just reiterate this :worship: That is an admirable score!

That's not a bad pm debut.
Considering that you have beaten an illustrious trio of most knowledgeable gentlemen, I think that is even modest of you.
And I forgot to mention that you are the only one with a max score on #12. :)

LATEST, oryctolagus catches up with Rambuchan, LouLong still reigns supreme.

LouLong 27
oryctolagus, Rambuchan 16
thetrooper 10,5
YNCS 10
Ciceronian & Plotinus 4

I'd put my Sherlock Hat on to figure out the remaining guys in Q10, to take second place, but I can't find my pipe.

So ask Watson for some more cocaine instead :D
Anyway I will extend the limit for submission to at least tomorrow, so maybe you will be able to anyway.
By the way, I must say I am a bit surprised that nobody has been able to tell me who the person in # 2 is...
