Excellent. Let me also thank YNCS for these questions:

- The asparagus tongs. I  asparagus.

- The Lukyen event question was great. :D.

- Of course Maxim is a formidable figure in military technology history.

- Thanks for highlighting how I still get confused between Michaelangelo and Da Vinci sketches!

Some questions outside Europe and American would be appreciated also.
OK, my friend, I'll see what I can do. :)
Just for clarification, I suppose by American you mean USA?
The problem is that most of us are Americans or Europeans. So American and/or European history is what most of us are familiar with.

The next time I run a quiz, if ever, I'll try to put some Asian, African, Polynesian and Latin American questions in.

That is also a valid argument which has to be taken into consideration.
And then some are military historians, some loves art, some are like me... :crazyeye:
In short it would seem like pleasing everybody and generating interest is rather a hard task.
About my quiz, it might be a bit belated, but it should hopefully be up soon.

Yikes! I have no clue at all

Is that a 'ß' (German 'sz') or 'β' (beta)? Not sure in this font (I suppose beta)
Man that question is OFF TOPIC Luc. That sign is the artist formerly known as Prince's name. This is meant to be a history quiz Luc, not a pop trivia quiz!

It is the letter beta. Sorry for the ambiguity.
@Rambuchan: Was this quiz unwaspic enough for you?

TAFKAP's symbol is

PrinceSymbol.jpg

and my daughter informs me that he has gone back to being Prince.

Yes the quiz is brilliant. I especially like the inventive new format in Q10. Very interesting. This will be a real test! Unfortunately I am busy creating a Mughal Era scenario atm (having real trouble being a techo idiot  ), so will only get round to the quiz a bit later. But I shall certainly give it a bash! :goodjob:

YNCS:
Thanks to your daughter for filling us all in on the Prince latest. Another :goodjob:

Excellent and thanks for the compliment.
I look forward to that Mughal scenario, unfortunately I am a technical idiot myself but there are a lot of highly competent people on this foumr that would be happy to advice you.
The first one has submitted, YNCS scores 8 pts. :goodjob:

YNCS just brought his score up to 10.
And I forgot to mention the limit for submission. It is Thursday 17.00 CET

Methinks that hits the nail squarely on the head.

OK Luc, I am getting round to your quiz today. Just had a closer look over the questions and be warned! I know some of these :groucho: .

Plot - I've already made some notes on yours and that will come next. You have been mighty cheeky with the angle of your questions.

Hopefully I'll have time to try this one out, though it will be mostly guesses! By the way, I created the researchable PM-based quiz in this forum, so have a look there too.
I have seen it, it is brilliant :hatsoff: , but I don't know if I have time to submit.
UPDATE
Two more excellent submissions, oryctolagus and Rambuchan, producing a very exciting standing.
Rambuchan & YNCS 10
oryctolagus 9,5
But there are plenty of time left and good opportunities for potential heirs to the throne. :)

Rambuchan just submitted again, and pushed into a clear lead.
Rambuchan 15
YNCS 10
oryctolagus 9,5

But Rambuchan shouldn't feel too comfortable in his lead, many of the most feared history-buffs haven't submitted yet.
And nobody has still not been able to tell me who the gentlemen in #12 and #17 are... :D

Well if people beat that then fair enough. I am finished now.

Initially I completely misunderstood question 10. I didn't realise that it was a case of ANY number with ANY letter. It's a very cunning question actually, given that these guys were real multi-talented men. Fortunately for me I just spent last week reading all about these guys  .

So thanks for that Luc, great timing while it's fresh in my mind :D . About as lucky as I was with some of my guesses! I'm still staggered I scored full marks on some picture clues which were Sherlock Holmes jobs :groucho:! Hazzah!
