They're still waiting for me to post the second half on that quiz. I need to do some picture editing. I know a couple of answers on this one, but I have to think on the others. I think I know the guy in #1.

Thanks! :D I can't believe I'm in the lead, so now I am waiting for someone to overthrow me. ;)
Atticus almost managed, he is right behind you with 26, so unless you come up with more answers, you shouldn't feel to safe...:D

I know a couple of answers on this one, but I have to think on the others. I think I know the guy in #1.
In that case you would be the first.:)

And our resident theologian and sage Plotinus makes a guest appearance just to identify the sinister person in #7, earning 4 points and the special Slasher Award.

And a certain Prussian field marshall regains the position he is quite used to, the front one. The current scores are now:

Adler17 32
Mirc 31
Atticus 26
sydhe 23
shortguy 21
dutchfire 17
Plotinus 4

But it is by no means impossible to overtake the leader, so just keep them coming...

On the other hand, it may be very hard indeed to lag behind the loser...

Look at it this way; on this board I get history lectures by young people almost every day. None of them participate for some reason, which mean that they get zero points each. You beat all of them.
I also remember the first time I won this type of quiz. That one was made by a certain Plotinus, and I think my winning score was something like about one third of the maximum attainable. He can hardly by called a loser, methinks...

Apart from that Atticus improves his score to overtake Mirc for second, he now has 28 points.

And Mirc is the first the answer correctly which two authors who died on the same day, and moves back to second, just one point behind the leader, with 31.

Is it unethical and/or against rules to take second shot at question you have already answered? I might know the infamous guy, but it would feel a little bit cheating to try again.

No, of course not.
You can try as many times as you want, and I don't see anything unethical with that, usually the human brain needs some time to work properly, at least mine is constructed that way.
I might know the infamous guy, but it would feel a little bit cheating to try again.
So just send me another PM.:)
Newsflash: Stalwart sydhe enters the competion with a score of 23. But I think he will eventually improve on that.

My apologies to shortguy, who did not appear on the scoreboard.
Overlooking somebody with the name of shortguy is really a bit too ironic.
In any case, he just improved his score to 21.
The scoreboard will be updated in a moment.

And thetrooper joins the fun with 24 points. I have a slight suspicion, though, that he will improve that fairly soon.

IIRC Rambuchan, bless his heart, quite intentionally settled for one point in one of the quizzes here.

Cheating in this context is equivalent to research and private discussions with other participants. A second try is alright as our quiz-master said.

:)

:D

And I am pleased to say that there are two new participants.
jameson just overtakes thetroooper with 25, identifying the painter in #11 in the process.
And so for the big story, young sage Taliesin strikes with 39.:hatsoff: to take the clear lead so far.

Hmmm... and I bet Ciceronian turns up just before the deadline with a massive score.

Hmmm... and I bet Ciceronian turns up just before the deadline with a massive score.

Hmm....I think I might accept that bet.:)
What are the stakes?

Below is the freshly updated scoreboard.

Taliesin 39
Adler17 32
Mirc 31
Atticus 26
jameson 25
thetrooper24
sydhe 23
shortguy 21
dutchfire 17
Plotinus 4

I must express a not too modest satisfaction with having so many participants, I think it could be a personal record.:D

I think you have inside information...

I bet you an e-beer.

The CFC crowd must have been starved for a new luceafarul special!

:D

I think you have inside information...
Not really. I have only noticed that his visits here are more and more infrequent, and I can't remember last time he dropped me a PM.
Besides, I have a suspicion that he finds me new avatar a bit scary...:mischief:

I bet you an e-beer.

Let's spice it up a bit.
If he does indeed participate, I offer the community to post an article with nice pics and everything about whatever topic you chose within the end of the March.
If he doesn't, you....let me think a bit on this one.
Anyway, if we ever meet in RL, I buy you a real beer. How about that?:)

Um, that is something I only give my wife.:D

Since you've upped the stakes, let's up the weapons, shall we?

Sounds to me that I have nothing to lose.
