Current (SVN) development discussion thread

I am the one who MODS.

On my 4th try to get the moors historic victory (on monarch), I did the first two UHVs.

Got Corsairs in 1510 (Astronomy and Military Science) and build nothing else in all coastal cities (Cordoba one every turn). Until 1650 I got 3043 gold from piracy. I had 25+ corsairs employed, blockaded all the Mediterainian and the coastline from Scandinavia to Marseille plus England and New York and had sunken every ship showing itsself. (America had no other colonies because of too much piracy, I assume!;))

I would not say I played the game perfect, but with my 4th try I would say it cannot played so much better. I think 5000 gold isn't doable. 2500-3000 is really hard, but doable, so I would suggest this or make privater weaker (4 + coastal boni) and with optics as suggested before.

Was a very fun game. Thanks for that Leoreth!:goodjob:

Bug: The turn numbers on the victory for the moors UHV screen are wrong. Should be 60/70/130.

It's about to get a bit easier soon. And I will reduce the required amount of gold.

True. I can get both tech in about 1460 at my best, I still think 5000 is impossible. And La Mezquita is not giving a great person for now.

I'm not able to access the repository link. I could access it yesterday though. All other webpages are working fine for me.
EDIT: I got Slik SVN instead of Tortoise (does not support XP SP1). Won't make a difference, will it?

Nope, I had to commit the description change before I implemented the effect for bugfix reasons.

Have you tried again a while later? Sometimes assembla just isn't available.

Great Wall bug: now it reduces your own unit movement, including workers, this is very bad!

China now suffers tech-leader penalty badly too, I can take this, but it is ugly that this mechanic neglects their UP.

It is, my bad.

You should rather say that the effect is complementary to their UP.

New commit:
- Building La Mezquita grants a great person
- the Tamil Sangam now also gives +25% culture
- fixed the Great Wall effect

I need some advice on downloading SVN on mac. Problem is my laptop can't use the modem internet connection which I have because of some bizarre problem. I have to use the mac to download the SVN to play. I'm checking out SVN softwares for mac, but I don't know which one would be best and simplest to use. And which would work if I am to download the latest version and then install into my pc and play. Can anyone help ? :(

(You know you need an emulator to run DoC on Mac, right?)

Unfortunately I don't know any SVN software for Mac. The fact that decent freeware is hard to come buy there is why I hate it so much to work with it.

I'm running DOC on laptop and use the mac for everything else :P . I bought that laptop 6 years back when I desperately needed one, during those six years I'm quite certain the machine broke down 6 times and the cost to repair them together with the cost of buying the laptop, made it as much as a mac. The quality was worse. So when I bought a mac I had a run down machine which I kept only for the purpose of playing Civ 4 :) . But now even that purpose is being defeated :P .

Playing a 3000BC China game on viceroy, I'm in 1000AD with 3 of the 4 techs and the first UHV complete. Some things:
1. The amount of barbarian horse archers, even on viceroy, are ridiculously small. Till now, I must have had only around 6-7 of them. And the 3 or 4 war elephants that spawned on the Tibet pass. The Great Wall is not really needed for this at all.
2. How many free barb wins does China get?
3. The city razing stability hit is still ridiculous. My empire was unstable (-19) for some time just because I got -18 for razing two Korean cities. And one of them was a one size city settled on the previous turn.
4. What exactly does minor crisis/ minor territory crisis do?
5. Why was the stability and UHVs completed removed from the scoreboard?

1. Yes, there should be more Horse Archers now.
2. The same as everyone else. I think five on Viceroy.
3. That's the point. Instead of small but permanent penalties the penalty was supposed to be harsh but temporary, to prevent raze-fests. Making the penalty dependent upon age or size of the city is a good idea though.
4. A minor territorial crisis is one city secession, I think. Although I'm not sure what happens if your entire territory is in historical tiles, that wasn't an issue previously when overexpansion was the only source of expansion instability.
5. Stability wasn't removed. UHV goals were removed because they took up a lot of space and provided almost no information because the AI usually didn't complete them anyway, if they were even able to (which by default they aren't).
