Why did we get this no deserting rule? To simplify the killing of newborn AI, which is already moving units out of the first city on the first turn?

SVN 750. AI Egypt doesn't flip to Arabia. Working as intended? From reading the log I thought this wouldn't happen~

Working as intended. Egypt is no longer part of Arabia's core, so under the new flip rules, Egyptian cities within the Egyptian core will not flip.

While this is great, are you going to increase the stack that spawns if you refuse the flip so that it doesn't become too easy to kill off newborn civs?
Yes, at lest until I get to the better spawn mechanics I'm planning.

Can you illuminate me about what is actually so great about it? Human player already knows by heart who will spawn where and how. Deserting was introducing an element of randomness in case you dont manage to kill a civ you were planning to kill right away. Now cold mathematical calculations will triumph over unpredictability and replayability.

I'm not sure what you are talking about, this is only for when the AI declares war on you after you have agreed to the flip.

It was incredibly annoying, didn't make sense, and made actually trying to prevent a spawn either relying on exploits or being extremely frustrating. It doesn't really add anything, it was only necessary to prevent spawns from being crushed too easily. But if we add a larger army on spawn, then we will still face the difficulties of holding on to a spawning civ while not being battered by these kinds of frankly unfun mechanics.

Indeed, I have removed the whole desertion mechanic. It's incredibly annoying, as you say, and adds nothing to the mod (for me, that is).

Oh ok. I was under impressions desertion was discontinued for all the cases...

Looking back on my commit message I see that it was confusing. "War on spawn" is my general term for automatic wars that trigger randomly when a civ spawns, and is separate from wars that result from refused flips.

Recently reinstalled the SVN after deleting it a while ago. For some reason, I get a string of XML errors whenever I try to open the mod. Any thoughts on what could be causing this? My SVN is fully updated to version 750.

My OS is in Chinese so I get that whenever I reinstall Civ4(and DoC). Then I change the code of all the xml files listed in the error message to UTF-8 to fix the problem.

Don't know about your case though.

That's not the issue, as my OS is in English. Thanks, though.

Edit: If it helps, the errors involve CIV4HurryInfos, CIV4CorporationInfos, CIV4BuildingInfos, CIV4CivicInfos and CIV4LeaderHeadInfos (a very, very long string of them involving civics).

Are you using vanilla civ4? It sounds like a silly question but all those error are really strange.

Nope, fully patched BTS. I've run DoC SVN before, but it's been a while, and I'd uninstalled the SVN at some point to free up some hard drive space. Just reinstalled today, and it's throwing all of these errors. The install should be completely clean, straight from the source.

Just open your control panel and switch your language option to English. This is a common issue for we Chinese players, the solution is simple.
把控制台的語言、地區選項,改成任何一種英語就可以了。如果選我們東亞語系的,系統會把一些XML檔的字元認成全形文字,造成誤讀。
