If I start a game I can't choose Mexico but in game I can switch to them. Sry if this has already been mentioned. I found nothing in the changelog.
That is because Mexico is an Aztec respawn.

New commit:
- changed the way stability scores accumulate (economy and happiness) so that changes in your civilization are more easily reflected in the score
- civilizations on collapsing will collapse if their score does not improve
- civilizations past their fall date can lose multiple stability levels at once
- instead of preventing the spawn of independent cities, units are pushed to the closest city
- cities of recently respawned civs cannot be demanded in Congress
Follow-up: this commit breaks savegame compatibility. Finish your games before updating.

Almost daily commits! Yay!

I always see capital is moving to Istanbul with AI. Not sure what is going on there ^^ Humans are treated differently?

maybe it only works for the AI. I just rolled up another start (since the Moors built Topkapi in 1340 just to add insult to injury) and took the City before the rest of Turkey flips to me (this also allowed me to raze that stupid Konye or what it is called which blocks 2 decent city spots in my core -.- )

but the mechanic should really be implemented, I mean there is no other city that can be considered as a useful capital (in your core).

Is there a reason why the Ottoman capitol doesn't automatically move to Constantinople/Istanbul upon conquest?
Since I only start with 2 cities I can't even move it myself :(
Only the AI gets free capital moves.

Only the AI gets free capital moves.

not true, the human Mongol gets it as well (probably due to the old capitol no longer being in the civs core)
but honestly this one is really mean, since it just forces you to reroll start over start to get one where you can instantly take Constantinople. As mentioned above you dont have enough cities to move your palace quickly and you need to have it there. But then you do need a good start anyway to have a chance, so maybe the forced rerolls are intentional

Afaik you need four cities to relocate your capital.

yeah, exactly. that means you have to win yet another fight before being able to move your palace to the city where it has to be if you want any chance of winning. Or you just reload, reload, reload, until you get a start where you can conquer Constantinople first.
I would love to hear from other players if even one of them didn't go that 2nd route and was successful.

Me too.

I don't think this is on a high priority list, but I think that if you could make respawn civs playable as other civs, that would be a nice addon. 2 I can think of:

- Peru (Inca) - I always thought this was a civ but when Incas respawned in my last game as Colombia, I didn't have the option to choose as them. Peru is a pretty important region of South America in today's world and it would be nice to play as them.

- Mamluks/Mamluk sultanate. A medieval/modern Egypt, they would be what we call Egypt today and would be in the area between Moors and Arabia (Libya & Egypt). Maybe not too important but 9 times out of 10 I see these Egyptians and wonder why we can't play as them.

okay, wow. The Ottomans are tough, I just failed because 2 tiles in the eastern mediterranean/black sea were still covered by a foreign civ despite pushing that -10 unhappiness very hard by whipping&drafting everywhere basically all the time.

You have REALLY few units to battle your way through Byzantium, Arabia then Holy Rome, Russia, Poland and the Moors. I couldn't use my UP before ~1600 due to all my cities being still far too small, you cant upgrade any of your starting units except for the cats/trebs and a combat 2 Camel Archer or a lucky Cataphract can easily deal with your 2 starting Janissaries.

Your tech advantage is gone by the time you've dealt with Byzantium&Arabia and then Russia and Rome have more units and usually more experienced ones as well.

Being forced to conquer Lwow, Kiev and the Moorish city 1E of the stone means you have to split your troops since moving them is too slow, increasing your vulnerability even more. I really dont see a way to do the UHVs except for a very lucky starting save and lots of "save/loading" to force battles.

Is that on Regent?

no, I but I don't think it will be much different there. You still need to fight the same civs which all are pretty much at their peak by that time and which had a lot more time to build units.
The Paragon difficulty level imho mostly makes barbs stronger and increases your tech & maintenance costs, none of which is really a problem in that situation (yet).
Or do you get twice as many starting units on Regent? That would change things.
