Europe, Middle East, East Asia, Native America.

The African civs are in the Middle East group, colonial civs in the Americas in the European group.

New commit: Opened a route for the Vikings to settle America again.

and is it a percentage or an absolute value thing?
because when China respawns and Mongols, Korea, Thai/Khmer are dead, so there is only Japan, Indonesia (me), Mughals and the respawned civ them getting techs that "at least 33% of their tech group have" would mean they get every tech one of us has.
Or else they get any tech that at least 1 member of their tech group has.

Either one seems wrong.

It's at least 50%.

then the Mughals probably don't count as Asian.

Please make it "at least 50% or at least 2, whichever is more". Because if there is only Japan and me when they respawn they get all our techs and the next one to respawn as well -.-

Or just make it "known by at least 2 or 3 other civs in the tech group" (depending on the size of the tech group).

The current version just punishes you for researching.

Nope, the usual reason for there not being any other civilization in a tech group is the human player eliminating all of them. Which makes it all the more important that a new respawning opponent has the proper techs to defend itself.

I hope that it's not too difficult for you to include the revision # in such posts. It will be very informational, especially in the "SVN Update Log" thread.
It would makes things more complicated, why do you need to know it?

seriously?
Tibet, China, Korea, Mongolia usually collapse on their own, Japan was at unstable/collapsing for several centuries during my game without me ever doing anything to them.
Sure, I killed the Khmer/Thai, but all of the others just collapsed own their own (well China had the Mongols).

So what you are basically saying is that I need to conquer & raze all the Chinese/Korean cities or I'll never be able to have the monopoly on a tech.
Damn, and here I thought I could play a peaceful game :(

it would help when you're playing an older SVN-version and want to update to the one before the next savegame-breaking-patch, for example.
Or if you want to go back to a specific version to try out something that was changed later (for example to compare it). Having the number in the thread would make such tasks a lot easier

If you go to https://www.assembla.com/code/Dawn_of_Civilization/subversion/commits, you can see all the revisions and their numbers, summaries, and code changes.

thanks, that looks useful.

holy crap, playing Japan after struggling with Indonesia feels like playing on Godmode (I guess the Euro-civs are still stronger/easier, but damn....).
I really think Indonesia could use some love. They have this awesome core, but now lack the commerce to counter their non-existant production.
I really hope the traderoute-buff is enough there.

Japan however has this super-annoying core, you could place 3 decent cities there but would need to settle on res, and then now that there are the pearls and settling on the gold is no longer a good option...does the Japanese core grow some time during the game?

It should be global. At the moment it only works for sea improvments built after the statues are built but this is going to be fixed.

I played a 3000 BC Greeks game, built Moai Statues on Ponta Delgada. Yes, I settled there and brought a great prophet to help production. That was nice after I built it. Ponta Delgada, the only possible Moai spot other than the Pacific in early game

Time to add disappearing Ocean near Ponta Delgada until Portoguese spawn.

Make Moai require perls. Moreover, its effect may be active only if the player runs pantheon, so it is less exploitable.

Nah, don't limit it to Pantheon only. It doesn't matter for the Polynesian UHV (it ends when the Moai Statues are constructed), but it does matter for players who want to play as Polynesia till modern times. Let them have some fun.

The pearl suggestion is good though.
