DaNES I: At the Precipice

Sigh. Since silver clearly can't be arsed to play, neither can i. Argentina is up for graps.

Now I'm all alone. Oh well. More NPCs for me to conquer. Um, I mean make alliances with.

Yeah, I know the practicalities and realities surrounding nations. However, it is a matter of personal loyalty. Then again, things like that become less and less relevant in bigger systems, so in a global alliance (hmm, I just remembered that that's the actual name :p) honour is naturally much less important than pragmatism.

I just believe in acting honourably in NESes, whenever it's IC.

Whenever one is done fighting external enemies, one then has to deal with internal enemies. It never fails.

I believe in always acting IC. Therefore, I agree with you and I also assert that nothing I said contradicts this. However, I also think there are few occasions when acting honourably (when it is not also pragmatic) is in any way in-character. If anything, personal loyalty (between leaders or between nations) is more OOC than IC, in my opinion.

Decloak: Which is why, to beat a dead horse (that it may never resurrect as a zombie), the "Playing to Win" argument was stupid--all countries (here meaning the government of those countries, generally) play to "win," ie: to maximize their own benefit. It's when you take action outside the interests of your country (be that starting silly wars or staying steadfastly loyal despite hopeless odds) that you are "Playing to X" out of character where "X" is whatever agenda you happen to have, which may include getting a "Winner" logo at the end of the game.

In short, countries, like people, are generally inherently selfish and interested in their own well-being above that of others (this is not to say they know what will result in that well-being) and expecting them to be otherwise is silly--it's like asking for OOC behavior.

While I'm seriously tempted to shove Thlayli's "logic" back down his throat, I'm no longer in the mood to shout my head off only to have the other person stick her fingers in her ears and shout "LALALALALALALALAICAN'THEARYOU". Same thing for Azale, other than the fact he should learn a distinction between the truth and attacks- the only thing I chose to say about him was that he has a habit of bailing, and that is certaintly the truth. As for your little 'tirade' against whining (which I could swear I heard a sniffle in), I'd point out that nothing I said has been whining- as I'm still amused by the fact you call your actions "ic". I advise you to go back and read the history before you dare try to push off your actions as "ic".

France can surrender and make all this pain go away.

Or Germany could use that nice navy, get her act togethor, and with the help of the mighty Belgians- finish her off.

Wait- am I not supposed to guess that?

Or you could stop postponing the inevitable and just surrender to Peru. That works too.

There is no need for all these words,
soon you'll all bow before Ethiopian rule!!!!

Ah, fun to watch.
I like Luckymoose's creative English the best. :p

But yeah, this is pretty funny. Also, I just realized that you folks won't have enough time to ask me questions if the deadline is the day I get back. Therefore, I'm moving the orders deadline to Thursday November 8 at the usual time (noon GMT).

A Grand Offer of Amnesty
For the Fascist Insurrectionists in Northern Italy

King Francesco offers the following terms of amnesty for the Fascist Insurrectionists in Northern Italy:

1) All rank-and-file insurrectionists are granted amnesty, but may not join the military or own firearms.

2) The leaders of the insurrection are to leave the country and are not permitted to return for ten years.

3) The King will appoint a person who had no involvement with the insurrection, but did sympathize with the cause (if not the methods), to a Ministerial position.

4) The King shall implement various social programs to assist the poor.

Term 3 shall only go into effect if the Insurrection Leadership agrees to Term 2, but rank-and-file insurrectionists are free to accept Term 1 individually, and Term 4 will depend on their participation.

Long live the Italian People.

Interestingly enough, the only thing I found funny was the thought of Peru doing something ;).
