DarthNES II - Superpowers

I thought you could only buy technology all at once?

GamezRule: Nah, but there's no point to not doing so unless you simply want to remove the temptation of spending the money as there so far doesn't seem to be any advantages to partial research while it removes the flexibility of banked cash.

To Pan-Am Airlines Alliance: Shall we vote on offering diplomatic support for Japan, the Austral Union and Malaysia in the current debacle? If it is passed we might move on to voting on whether to occupy those of our fleets which are idle should the conflict persist, and if mere diplomatic support fails there need be no further consideration.

Yep, you lost a Marine Division, but just barely. A slightly more aggressive invasion would most likely have prevented that. You just kinda approached Nassau while waving out of your landing craft and expected the natives to be happy you came. Instead of waving, you should have dropped a couple bombs.

"Media" in the part of the update you saw meant "Russian media". Besides, I just put that in there to help illustrate the situation. Players making political cartoons doesn't do much of anything except make the game a little more fun.
OK, although I did spend some credits for my own propaganda, but I guess it wasn't enough to push it over.

After deliberation by the Japanese government we feel their cassus beli, against Malaysia is sufficient and we support the invasion. And we are glad to pronounce "Peace for our time" in East Asia.

Awwww... Brazilians were eagerly expecting exciting news stories and the pols were wringing their grubby hands, hopeful of a slowing pace of pacific expansion.
Welp, there's still the Australs and the Malay army.
Seriously tho, that was a hard luck story... my sympathies. I was kinda freaked out last turn by how much resistance Saudi Arabia put up, reinforcing my aversion to three's until I've got a big army. The combat value of neutrals seems to rise exponentially per city they possess.

We are grateful that you have reconsidered war. Such a confilct would bring tragedy to both sides.

@toteone and GamezRule
Well you can still invest when your in debt, but you have to get out of debt to buy it all at once. You can't have deficit spending for research.

Also, can we please get post 5 updated? (treaty post)

While we do not support your invasion, we will not interfere with your pathetic (so far) conquest of Malaysia.

Indonesia's attempt to reunite the peoples of southeast Asia into a greater power is well-founded in the eyes of China. To avoid a catastrophe, China urges all parties to practice restraint in their diplomacy. Indonesia has done nothing different than China in trying to secure her borders and people in a world that is constantly getting more and more dangerous.

If you mean that as your Causis Belli, we would have accepted it.

The Russian Federation, as a neutral power in these affairs and a signatory of the Moscow-Tokyo Pact, will take no hostile action or participate in sanctions against the Japanese Republic. We ask our fellow members of the Triple Alliance to restrain themselves, and seek neutrality.

We declare our neutrality, as requested by the Russian Federation, though we retain the right to change our stance if the situation warrants it.

Brothers in Islam, peace be upon you. In order to ensure the security of Islam in the world we must protect ourselves from the heathens beyond our borders. As such, we would like to propose a defensive pact between our two nations.
Indeed! Your words of wisdom are pleasing to us. Let it be so, we shall sign a defensive pact with one another.

Are you reneging on our previous defensive pact?

Argentina: Are you not interested in Uruguay anymore? With the Uruguayans unwilling to accept half their state as an autonomous province we felt it was best for you to crush them, however now that they grow stronger perhaps they are not worth the casualties on your part compared to the benefit it is to either neighbor that they survive. 6c could be paid over half a year of in aid payments from Brazil which would incorporate all of Uruguay province financially, but as an autonomous state with an independent military. 5c out of 6 could be used to create a metropolis and the last 1c would be considered interest. While Argentina could certainly gain the remainder of Uruguay this month for a 1c income boost without needing to expend a further 4c plus the 1c sent immediately ti create a metropolis that would come at the cost of casualties now that the Uruguayans control the river. Furthermore the peaceful solution would allow Argentina to avoid casualties and to immediately move on to another, richer target. On our side Brazil would get the income after the payments have been made, and mutually speaking an independent Uruguayan army would keep the land between our rich coastal cities secure and militarily neutral. As our forces go north and west respectively it'll ensure our collective security from each other independent of what the future may bring.
