DarthNES II - Superpowers

Issued by the Government of the United States of America said:
From this moment forth, the governments of the United States of America and that of Cuba are to be considered at war.

America's grievances consists of the illegal takeover and torture of Guantanamo Bay and its Marines. In addition, America has continuously asked Cuba to act on humanitarian reasons for its own people. The Cuban Government has repeatedly stolen from humanitarian efforts and actively hampered other efforts to help their own citizens. They have lied to the international community of the state of affairs and have oppressed their citizens, who have fled or lived under fear.

America's goals is nothing less than an Independent Cuba free of its current dictatorial government. This Cuba will not be occupied by the United States of America nor its military after free and open elections and the guarantee of transparency within the government. America promises to pull its own troops out once these goals are met.

Vetoed by President Powers
Overridden by Congress

The United Mexican States also declares war on Cuba. It cites for the liberation of the Cuban peoples of the Castro political family, who do not care for their island execpt for having absulote power over it. As with the American setiments, we are here only to liberate them, and will pull out once free Cuban elections are held.

The United Mexican States in turn announces joint US-Mexican co-operation in the liberation of Cuba. We shall coodnaite our forces and fight together for the common man. Also, in response to the war, we have built the ARM Sanna Anna, Mexico's first aircraft carrier. If she does well, plans of building a second carrier for the other fleet will go underway.

Baltic Reconstruction Project starts
After the short Baltic Conflict between the formerly independent republics of Latvia and Lithuania and their return to the fold of the European Federation, the European Federal Parliament has decided to fund the Baltic Reconstruction Project in order to put back into work all the infrastructure lost in the battles between the European Federal Armies and the local armies. Collaboration with local workers and the local and regional governments will be a fundamental part of this plan, which has been received with skepticism by part of the Lithuanian and Latvian population due to the European role in the infrastructure destruction, but it has been nonetheless well received by a good part of both countries, as well as their provisional governments. Works are expected to be finished on March 2026.

New Tax Laws expected to reduce unemployment
In its most recent session, the European Federal Parliament approved a series of tax cuts for small and medium enterprises, aimed at their expansion and creation of new job opportunities. According to lead economists, this move may be able to produce up to 800,000 jobs, and perhaps more, thanks to the support it gives not only to currently existant SMEs, but also to encourage the development of new ones.

European Space Agency to send man into space before July 2025
The recent developments by the Indian Space Agency and NASA have put ESA into the eye of public opinion for their apparent loss of face. Official statements by ESA speaker François Dinal say that the European Space Agency's apparent slowness is only an attempt to make sure that everything goes without a hitch. Thus, European Space Agency expects that, before the year is through, not only will there it be Europeans on space, but also the first stages of a space station.

United States declares war on Cuba
The recent invasion of the Guantanamo Base by Cuban troops and the torture of the Marines stationed there has swept the American nation into an outrage, with demands of military actions against Cuba. Congress soon approved a declaration of war with the stated aim of restoring democracy to an independent Cuba. An attempt from President Jeremy Powers to veto this move was soon overrode by Congress, and soon American troops started to prepare for the invasion of Cuba. The European Federal Parliament has yet to state its official position on the conflict, but some EFP members have stated, on a personal title, that they support the independence of a democratic Cuba.

Albanian unrest strikes fear of civil war
The riots that have been hitting the city of Tirana due to the recently discovered cases of corruption that have affected the highest levels of office in the country - with rumours even pointing at Prime Minister Robert Ndreka as the head of all the corruption scheme - have expanded to Elbasan, Peshkopi, Durrës and Fier, and there is also word of confrontations with policemen as far as Orosh to the north and Tepelenë to the south. Prime Minister Ndreka has established martial law and ordered the arrest of multiple people, some of which were calling for his dismissal and new elections to be held. Albanian Socialist Party Secretary General Jakov Roshi, one of the most critical opponents to Ndreka's rule, was forced to ask for asylum at the European Federation Embassy in Tirana as the Albanian secret police were nearing him. Parliament is currently working to find a way to both prevent the start of a civil war in Albania as well as making sure that the rights of the civilian population are respected.

Belorussians Repatriated to Glorious Russian Federation
The elimination of the unjust and ill-begotten Belorussian state has finally been completed by the Russian Federation's powerful and fearful armies. Following the official defeat and dissolution of the forces of the separate Belorussian “government” the 20th Guards Army and the 58th Army began a great military parade through Minsk, ending at Victory Square, where general Sergei Mettler made a great speech commemorating the historic reunion of Russia and Belarus. Predictably, there was much cheering, fanfare and celebration as the forces moved through the city. The esteemed general was not available for comment, but one of his aides assured us that the establishment of government and order in Belarus is well underway. Reporters spoke to several soldiers in the service of the Russian government and people, who were overjoyed to live to see the day that Belarus, a rightful member of the Russian Federation, was returned to the fold. The prodigal child has come home, and Russia could not be more pleased. President Mikhail Yilenekov generously addressed the concerns of political leaders that the militarily-supported return of Belarus to its rightful place in the Russian nation was by no means unnecessary or overly-violent. Deaths and wreckage were minimal, despite the protestations of foreign pigdog “news outlets”, and the people of Belarus are already enjoying their new-found freedoms as citizens of the Federation.

United States, Mexico Declare War on Cuba
The United States of America and the United States of Mexico have declared war on Cuba, citing the seizure of the American base Guantanamo Bay and the ineffectual nature of Cuban government and authority, as well as atrocities wrought by the Cuban government on its own citizens. Officials of the government in Moscow were not available for comment on the matter, but general opinion is that the United States has taken one step forward and one step back. Mexico appears to be gladly following American leadership into what appears to be an ultimately fruitless conflict, that will only lead to the suffering of the Cuban people and unnecessary bloodshed. The establishment of any long-term, democratic regime in the troubled region seems even more doubtful after the proposition of American-led military violence against the current Cuban government, and American President Powers, even with the movement of American politicians towards greater influence in the region, seems unwilling to enforce law and order in Cuba except as the benefactor of another ineffectual sovereign. Reporters were able to interview Russian tourists on their way out of the country, who uniformly declared their lack of confidence in America's ability to maintain or create order, and their love of glorious, just and noble Russia.

National Confidence, Love, Loyalty, etc: Highest Ever
The Bureau of Statistics released a report this week with findings that the Russian people have never been more pleased and confident in the leadership of their government. Surveyed populations reported a great feeling of respect and admiration for President Yilenekov, as well as pride in the power of the glorious Russian armed forces. Furthermore, the Russian people came out in great support of Russia's membership in the Triple Alliance and its position as a signatory of the Moscow-Tokyo Pact. Natalya Olenoff of St. Petersburg was interviewed and quoted as, “We love the President, and we love our soldiers. There is no country on Earth greater than the Russian Federation, but we'd settle for its allies as close seconds.” Truly a glorious time to be Russian. One man from Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky registered a complaint that the government was not tough enough on foreign pigdogs who did not love Russia as its own people did.

In other news, Russian tourists registered dislike of other countries, cited as not being Russian enough.

Also, the all-powerful Canadian Herald does not approve of the international publishing of other newspapers. The full power of the Canadian Herald will now be dedicated to establishing its supremacy as the world's only international newspaper!

Stories are nice guys, and they may effect updates. Additionally, you are all welcome to send pictures to me, which I may use in updates. All I request is that they have no watermarks, or small enough ones which can be edited out.

What happens when Canada becomes a province of the US? :p

Glorious Moscow Times newspaper which speaks for all of Russia and its newspapers (including the St. Petersburg Gazette and the Novgorod Article) says this will never happen, because American pigdogs don't have the manly fortitude to fight the Canadians. The Moscow Times has a time-traveling contingent; is far superior to foreign pigdog time-traveling reporters.

Well, unless the EF attacks them :mischief:

The most safe neutral country is Israel. I'm not saying they won't ever be attacked. I'm saying if they are attacked, they would rape the armies of the imperalists. The only thing that is preenting them from being a power is the small size.
