CUBA INVADED, "HAVANA" CAPTURED

Cuban gunships disembark from Santa Clara for the front lines
Holguin, Occupied Cuba - Smoke floats over southern Cuba as American and Mexican forces begin a large scale offensive to eliminate North America’s only socialist state. The invasion began with intensive missile and air strikes by the American Second Fleet, which targeted both military and civilian targets. The Cubans, in response, began firing anti-ship missiles from land and naval platforms, which scored several hits and sunk an American destroyer. Shortly thereafter, the Mexican Flota del Caribe joined the fighting as American forces from the Bahamas landed. Cuban forces were quickly mobilized from the north of the country, but floundered when facing not one, but two large armies. Air support was cut off quickly by land based fighter aircraft based in Florida, giving the Mexicans and Americans uncontested skies. At sea, the Mexicans quickly engaged and incapacitated the Cuban navy, thus giving the allies complete naval superiority.
After each secured a beachhead, the Mexican and American armies moved to take Havana, the Cuban capital. After heavy fighting, the two armies managed to control the city, but quickly realized it wasn’t Havana, but Holguin. A foolish cartography error was made by American military strategists, which thought the capital was in the southeast, not nearly 500 miles away in the northwest. Either way, the cratered southern tip of Cuba is now in the hands of the joint-forces. Between their current position and the real city of Havana is a determined Cuban army.

BRAZILIANS BLITZ BOLIVIA

Brazilian infantry arrive in the town of Puerto Suarez
Tarija, Occupied Bolivia - With the completion of the Paraguayan campaign, the Brazilian military has turned their sights to the landlocked nation of Bolivia. A two pronged attack was planned with the Amazonian and Southeastern Armies making a rendezvous in Santa Cruz de la Sierra. Before then, the Brazilians were to control the Andean foothills in the south central part of the country as well as most of the rainforest areas of the eastern border with Brazil. However, this proved to be more difficult than expected.
Brazilian battle plans called for the splitting up of much of the Southeastern Army as they advanced towards Camiri and Tarija. At first is worked, but soon proved to be a fatal mistake as Bolivian defenders found unsupported units and eliminated them with relative ease. An armored column sent toward Santa Cruz was intercepted by Bolivian tank destroyers near the town of Lagunillas. Air support arrived too late to save the ground units, but were still able to take out a large chunk of Bolivia’s armored forces. The Amazonian Army encountered a similar problem as a contingent of troops was nearly wiped out near the border town of San Matias by Bolivian infantry. All in all, the Brazilians made decent gains, but have not done much damage to the Bolivian defenders. At the moment, the bulk of the Bolivian ground forces are fortifying the Sucre, Potosi, and the surrounding area between the Brazilians and the altiplano while a smaller force is trying to stop the enemy east of Santa Cruz.

THOUSANDS DEAD ON "HELL'S HIGHWAY"

Destroyed vehicles line highway after being cleared by Saudi forces
Ad Dammām, Saudi Arabia - What was originally planned as an evacuation of civilians quickly turned into a massacre on what many in the international community are now calling “Hell’s Highway”. A plea by the Saudi government to evacuate the trapped residents of Ad Dammām was made last month and accepted by UIR military officials. The ceasefire was to allow enough time for civilians to flee to neighboring Qatar via motor vehicles on the relatively undamaged highway system. The planned route was to be through neutral Bahrain by way of the King Fahd and Qatar-Bahrain causeways. However, the large convoy was attacked by UIR helicopter gunships, aircraft and rocket artillery which killed just over 8,000 people and clogged the highway with over a mile of destroyed vehicles, which trapped many more inside the warzone.
The Saudis, realizing many civilian vehicles were used in fortifications or destroyed in the fighting, scraped together a fleet of vehicles which included many military trucks and armored vehicles. A group of UIR gunships, on patrol in the area, spotted the convoy moving towards their lines, between Ad Dammām and Khobar, and opened fire. After their runs, the pilots called in for strike fighters and artillery to finish off the rest. Upon realizing they just killed civilians, many soldiers involved in the attack became disheartened, lowing morale overall.
Saudi forces in Ad Dammām, in retaliation of the slaughter of innocents, began launching massive artillery strikes against UIR positions, which caused UIR shelling in response. Both sides have taken a harsh beating and Ad Dammām seems to look like a shattered shell of what it once was. UIR forces are haggard and reinforcements are a fair distance away, near the Yemeni border.

JAP MARINES HIT PHILIPPINES

Japanese troops move inland from beachhead near Glan
General Santos, Occupied Philippines - Moving from smaller islands to bigger islands, Japanese forces invaded the Philippines this month. The invasion begin with an impressive display of Japanese naval power. Near the town of Appari, on the island of Luzon, Japanese missiles pulverized defenses in preparation for the landing of troops. As the Army of Kyushu landed, they quickly met resistance from the large garrison based north of Manila, who effectively prevented the enemy from moving inland.
A second landing was made on Mindanao island in the south, which opened with a similar display of naval firepower. The Japanese Army of Honshu landed outside of the city of General Santos and moved inland fairly quickly, but were repulsed by Filipino defenders. Carrier based aircraft managed to knock out most of the enemy air forces, but were unable to find many Filipino gunships, which make up most of the Filipino aerial units. Japanese air superiority has been established over occupied territory, but not any further inland. At sea, the Japanese have eliminated all defensive craft…but land based defenses cannot be ruled out.
