Don't bump before the update! :/

Hey I'll be gone for a week, if orders are due, just pay off my debt I guess

Seeing as I have three projects and a handful of labs due by next week, I've had little time to work on the update. Besides, this update is going to be a bit bigger than average...it will have six headlines.

I'm planning on getting my lab work done en masse tomorrow, which would leave me much of the weekend to get the update done.

A NEW RED TERROR

Members of the Burmese Way Movement move to rendevous with Vietnamese regulars

Bangkok, Socialist Republic of Vietnam - A sudden sweep of Marxism across Southeast Asia this month has brought about new governments, revolutions, and plenty of bloodshed. The Socialist wave, widely believed to have been orchestrated by the Vietnamese government, has affected the states of Cambodia, Thailand, Myanmar, Malaysia, Brunei, the Philippines, and Indonesia. Attacks carried out by well equipped insurgents occurred around the same time on March 3rd, after a weekly broadcast political radio program based out of Ho Chi Minh City, and targeted government officials, administrative buildings, military installations, and population centers. In Cambodia and Brunei, the revolutions were quick and effective, while other nations required direct foreign military support, namely from the Vietnamese, or are currently trying to wrest control from government forces on their own. The Vietnamese are ecstatic to see their neighbors becoming more supportive of their actions.

Vietnamese military forces, long since dormant in bases in Laos and Vietnam proper, crossed the borders into Cambodia and Thailand to support armed revolts carried out by the Khmer Rouge and Thai PLA respectively. Cambodian forces were overwhelmed by insurgents before the arrival of the Vietnamese, which meant and earlier than expected incursion into Thailand. A pincer movement into the Thai economic core by the 1st and 4th Corps and elements of the Khmer Rouge, supported Thai PLA operations and effectively neutralized the formidable Thai military. Leaving the 4th Corps to clean up Thailand, the Vietnamese 1st Corps linked up with members of the Burmese Way Movement in unoccupied eastern Myanmar. Together, the Socialist forces pressed into Chinese held territory, liberating Mandalay. The Chinese, who were mopping up in Rangoon when the attack occurred, quickly moved north to protect Toungoo, a forward base containing much of the Chinese Army’s fuel and ammunition dumps, situated between Mandalay and Rangoon. Much of Indochina now is firmly in Vietnam’s grasp.

To the southeast, in the insular region, pro-Vietnamese insurgents have begun campaigns to gain control without Vietnamese military support. In Brunei, the assassination of the Sultan and Tentera Nasional Kalimantan Utara control of the military led to a quick establishment of a Socialist government. The new Socialist state also helped support the Malayan Races Liberation Army, which was succeeding in their operations in East Malaysia while their brothers in the west were struggling against the strong pro-government garrison. Similarly, the Communist hold of East Malaysia helped promote the successes of the Indonesian Communist Party in the north and central portions of Indonesian Borneo, while plans in the west were quickly stopped by the TNI-AD East. On Sumatra, significant gains were made by the Indonesian Communists due to the lack of government forces in the area. A plot to assassinate Indonesian leader Abdurrahman Wahid Jr. with a car bomb failed when it was prematurely set off by car thieves. In the Philippines, the Partido Komunista ng Pilipinas quickly gained control of Luzon, using the poor response of government forces to the Japanese invasion as a platform to garner support. Soon, much of the unoccupied Philippines were under the control of the PKP, with government forces unable to stop them due to combat with the Japanese. PKP forces on Leyte, in an attempt to stall Japanese forces, blew up the road bridge connecting their island with Japanese occupied Samar. The PKP are poised to take control of the government in the coming weeks.

BRAZILIAN PEOPLE’S MOVEMENT TAKES ACTION

riot2.jpg

A protester is beaten in what would be considered some of the tamest riots in Brazil

São Paulo, Republic of Brazil - Acting on the horrible economic decisions, amongst other things, of President Ricardo Honorato de Moraes, the collective Socialist parties of Brazil orchestrated mass protests in much of southeastern Brazil demanding the President step down. In response, the government sent in the police and paramilitary forces to quash the insurrection by any means necessary. Reports estimate close to 180 protesters died during the crackdown, which only caused more outrage and protest against the government. Military forces from the frontlines in Bolivia and the newly acquired Cape Verde islands were ordered to return to deal with the protesters once and for all. The Atlantic Army and the 1st Fleet, the latter about to receive a new supercarrier, arrived in Rio de Janeiro in time to support struggling riot police in putting down a particularly violent riot. However, this was all the support the government was to receive.

The Southeastern and Amazonian Armies, fresh from the failed attempts to storm Bolivian mountain defenses, arrived infuriated with the government’s suicidal offensives. Putting their support behind the Socialist uprising, the military effective turned the conflict into a full-blown civil war. With the military’s assistance, the newly named Brazilian People’s Movement raided national armories and even secured the air bases home to the Air Defense Group, ensuring the government forces were unable to obtain air support for any offensives. Much of the country is supportive of a new Socialist government, which has stated it will adopt better economic policies, make better use of its armed forces, end the alliance with the Argentinians, and cater to the people’s needs rather than corporate fat cats…but the majority of the population is still being crushed by the heel of government forces.

RUSSIANS GET THE BOMB

mobilemissile.jpg

A mobile ballistic missile launcher enters Red Square

Moscow, Russian Federation - The Russian government’s nuclear weapons project has been completed this month and has been flaunted by the government in the best way they know how, a parade in Red Square. During this year’s 9 May Victory Day Parade, which commemorates the 80th anniversary of the Soviet Union’s victory in the Great Patriotic War, the Russians included a large IRBM mobile firing vehicle, which is designed to be able to transport and fire the types of weapons they are presently able to field. The move was also televised worldwide as an apparent “f**k you” to their rivals and nations which have denounced their actions.

Russian high command, speaking openly for reasons of public and government praise, have proudly stated that the re-establishment of the Russian nuclear arsenal is at the very top of the national “to-do list” and that the existence of the arsenal would put nations in their respective places, namely the United States, and would act as a deterrent against the aggressive actions of national rivals and enemies. The fact that Russia has the capability to obliterate entire armies and cities at the push of a button has really improved the overall mood of the Russian people who are more than happy to see the re-emergence of the Russian superpower.

BRAWL IN THE SOUTH CHINA SEA

cruisemissiles.jpg

Indonesian destroyers launch a salvo of cruise missiles at Vietnamese warships

Nha Trang, Socialist Republic of Vietnam - A pitched naval battle, and the first official battle between two powers erupted in the South China Sea this month between the Indonesians, the Vietnamese, and the Japanese. The entire Indonesian Navy, sporting newly constructed aircraft carriers in its Eastern Fleet, was ordered north to find, engage, and destroy the Vietnamese People’s Navy. They set sail for the Mekong Delta, the target’s last known location, but it was nowhere to be found. Scout planes were barely able to find the wakes of the Vietnamese ships headed eastward, towards the Philippines. The Indonesians changed course and began pursuit. The Vietnamese warships were intercepted several hundred miles from the island of Mindoro. The three fleets were spotted by Japanese carrier-based aircraft and were called in to the Japanese admiralty. Believing the warships to be en route to engage the Japanese fleets, every available aircraft was dispatched to make contact with the approaching fleets to find out their intentions. Upon nearing the Indonesian and Vietnamese fleets, the Japanese aircraft encountered Indonesian carrier-based strike aircraft which were ordered to attack the Vietnamese. A communications break down between the wings lead to a dogfight, where several fighters, mostly Indonesian, were shot down. This gave the Vietnamese warships time to prepare for combat. The approaching Indonesian fleets caused the Japanese to break off and return to their respective carriers, where the Japanese fleets would prepare for an attack. No attack would come.

Having lost several of its attack aircraft without doing any damage to the intended target, the Indonesian fleets fired a massive opening salvo of cruise missiles to strike Vietnamese surface ships. A handful of the missiles were shot down by prepared Vietnamese defenses, but the sheer size of the salvo led to the loss of two destroyers. The Vietnamese submarine forces, having stealthily closed in on the Indonesians, fired torpedoes from several angles, which sunk three destroyers and a submarine. The Indonesians, now knowing the enemy submarines’ location, sent out its remaining destroyers to take them out. The force knocked out all the Vietnamese submarines, but led to the loss of two more Indonesian destroyers. A last ditch effort by the lone Vietnamese destroyer to hit the Indonesians seriously damaged one of the Eastern Fleet’s carriers. A pair of missiles from a cruiser quickly sank the enemy and the rest of the Indonesian Navy moved to carry out its second objective, an attack against Vietnamese coastal defenses. The warships closed on the Vietnamese coast and fired several salvos of surface-to-surface missiles, which took out artillery defenses in southern Vietnam. Strike fighters from the Sao Do Wing were scrambled to engage the Indonesians while the anti-ship batteries that were not destroyed opened up on the enemies. The aircraft and missiles took out one destroyer as the Indonesians fled out of range from both enemy aircraft and missiles, having taken out a good chunk of the targets.

YANKS AND EUROS REACH SPACE

spacebound.jpg

A European space mission commences in southern Italy

Orlando, United States of America - On the heels of the Indians, both the Americans and the Europeans launched manned space missions this month. The launches were successful, and have been viewed by the world as a statement from the West that the space race isn’t over, not by a long shot. Heads of the Indian space agency have been quick to point out that they have a commanding lead in space technologies, being elbow deep in weaponized satellite research, having built a spaceport, and their recent construction of both a space shuttle and a spy satellite.

Both the Americans and Europeans have begun planning for the construction of new spaceports. American planners see either Puerto Rico or the old Cape Canaveral station on the Atlantic coast of Florida as their best options. The Europeans are looking at the potential of one of the Canary Islands or French Guiana for their spaceport needs. French Guiana is the obvious geographical choice, but the Brazilian issue may very well eliminate it as a candidate.

EUROPEAN ARMIES TAG-TEAM BALKANS

strikefighter.jpg

A strike fighter from the Douhet Air Wing departs for an air strike in central Serbia

Zagreb, Occupied Croatia - As expected, the Europeans invaded the Balkans this month after an overall breakdown in relations. The month’s offensive opened with a fairly widespread bombing campaign, which targeted every ex-Yugoslav nation, except Slovenia, for obvious reasons. The non-concentrated bombing meant fewer targets were destroyed in each target country, and the aircraft needed to fly through more anti-air systems than had they just attacked one country. However, the move did keep the enemies guessing, because no one was sure where the Europeans would attack. Naval missile strikes also helped keep the Slavs guessing. The strikes were mostly against Serbia, so most were surprised when European forces didn’t pour into Kosovo.

In the north, Das Altes Heer stormed across the Croatian border, with Zagreb being the primary objective. They easily took the city with few casualties due to the strange dispersion of the Croatian forces. Most of the defenders are now in the hills and mountains of the Velebit, which seperates European occupied northern Croatia from the southern, Adriatic coastal region. In the south, L'Ancienne Armée powered through Macedonia, which sports one of the weakest armies on the continent and soon set their sights on Montenegro. Instead of cutting through Serbia, by far the strongest nation in the Balkans, which was also prepared for an invasion in the south, the army backtracked through Albania and took Podgorica. Montenegro, also sporting a small military, quickly fell to the vastly superior European army.

Americans Move Into Pacific

Honolulu, United States of America - With all the hubbub going on in the Pacific and the US still playing the world hegemon act, it was a surprise that the US did nothing but mull about in the Carribean. This month, however, the Americans appeared to get serious and moved its Third Fleet, as well as the Fifth Army, to the Hawaiian Islands. No one is sure what the Americans’ intentions are. They could possibly be preparing an offensive against any of the rapidly expanding Asian powers, trying to get their own slice of the Pacific island pie, or just making sure their Pacific holdings aren’t taken by the expanding Asians.

Mexicans Make Advances As Yanks Flounder

Havana, Republic of Cuba - Mexican forces have, once again, shown their better fighting skills when compared to the Americans. The Ejército del Sur trudged through Cuban defenses with support from their own missile boats and American ground based aircraft and managed to get within striking distance of the Cuban capital. Meanwhile, the Americans abandoned their positions around Holguin and attempted to make an assault directly into Havana by way of the city’s harbor, as well as a landing further west. Known as the Landing at Guanabacoa, US marines were deposited directly into Havana after the nearby Second Fleet destroyed artillery emplacements around the harbor. What the Americans didn’t account for, however, was the resolve of not only the Cuban soldiers, but the civilians, who had taken every possible step to keep the Americans confined. The marines were then slaughtered by mortar and machinegun fire. To the west, things didn’t go much better. Despite air and naval support, forces trying to land found it near impossible as Cuban troops kept mounting counter-assaults, which promptly forced Americans to retreat. Eventually, the Americans established a small beachhead, although they suffered heavy casualties.

Jap Marines Return to Philippines

Cagayan de Oro, Occupied Philippines - The Japanese Army of Honshu, which had been on Luzon island two months ago, has returned to attack the Filipino enemy, this time with better training. An attack on the island of Samar by the highly trained was executed perfectly and caught the government forces there off guard. The only thing that stopped the army’s advance was the destruction of the road bridge, which would have given access to Leyte island, by Marxist insurgents. On Mindanao, small offensives by the Army of Kyushu, piggybacking off cruise missile strikes, managed to eliminate the last of the Filipino resistance on the island. All government forces are now gone, but now the Japanese have to fight the PKP, a well equipped Communist insurgency group who controls much of the northern and central islands.

South Africans Break Enemy Back

Quelimane, Occupied Mozambique - South African combined arms smashed through the strongest defense the Mozambican military could muster. Air strikes and a handful of missiles weakened the defensive line between the southern tip of Malawi and the ocean in preparation for the ground assault. South African armor from the 1st and 2nd Legions spearheaded the attack and broke through the enemy line, allowing mechanized infantry to circle around and annihilate the enemy. At the moment, almost nothing stands between the front line and the city of Nampula.

Yeveran Overrun as Azerbaijan Burns

Yeveran, Russian Federation - The bombing of Armenia and Azerbaijan continued this month with incendiary munitions, namely napalm and white phosphorus being dropped in Azerbaijan and conventional explosives used in Armenia. This signaled the ground offensive. The Russian 2nd Guards Tank Army, now properly equipped and trained to fight in the rugged Caucasus region, quickly seized the populated northern portions of the country then moved to the scorched and cratered capital of Yeveran. The rest of the country capitulated, fearful of continued terror bombing. Over Azerbaijan, increased bombing raids on industrial and civilian targets faced ever increasing anti-air batteries. Several Russian fireballs plummeted from the sky after their payloads were detonated by Azerbaijani missiles.

Chinese Give Up on Kyrgyzstan

Chengdu, Republic of Greater China - After dealing with treacherous mountains and wintery conditions, the Chinese 27th Army Group has finally been ordered to call off the invasion of Kyrgzstan. The army has been moved back towards the Sichuan province where it has better access to the Koreas, Indochina, or the Pacific. The movement of said army has been heralded as a victory for the tiny nation of Kyrgyzstan, who may now resume its peaceful existence

Rangoon Crushed

Rangoon, Occupied Myanmar - After months of bombardment, Chinese forces finally crossed into the stronghold that was once Myanmar, cleaning up whatever resistance still remained in the city. During the clean-up process, Marxist insurgents, supported by the Vietnamese, took control of the eastern realm and recaptured Mandalay. The 42nd Army Group, moving quickly to counter the Marxist push, took up positions near the city of Toungoo. While no battles have been fought between the Chinese and the Vietnamese, if the Vietnamese continue to operate in the area, war is most certainly going to be declared.

Aussies Continue Island Hopping

Suva, Austral Union - Not deviating from the island hopping plan, the Aussies are continuing to absorb Pacific island nations with little resistance. The Fijians were a bit more feisty than their Vanuatuan brothers and actually managed to scratch the Austral Union’s Oceania Detachment. The Aussies are now mere minutes from the International Date Line and the Western Hemisphere.

World Faces Financial Problems

Montreal, Canada - World economists have noticed the economies of most of the world’s powers slipping a little since last month. The change is most likely a direct result of growing debts. In fact, the only nations not affected by the “debt debockle” are the European Federation, the United States, Nigeria, Argentina and the UIR. The people of all these nation which have suffered the economic hit have all shown their disapproval in letting their governments let such as silly thing happen.

Brainwashed Cubans Don’t Want Enough Food to Live On

“Must… Kill… Americans…”
Brainwashed Cubans have attacked American Positions this year, in seemingly zombie waves chanting communist slogans and showing their malnourished bodies. The government has repeatedly refused humanitarian food during lulls in the fighting, crushed a bread revolt, and now forced brainwashed forces to attack us. We will succeed and triumph, for that is the American Way.

Silly Mistranslation Leads to Revolution
Somehow some Brazilians mistranslated ‘Regional Forum for Discussion of Local Events’ into ‘Alliance with the Dirty Argentinians.’ Then, they declared themselves Communists to get Vietnamese support and fought against the Brazilian Government.
