If you live in the Bay Area, I stongly suggest going San Leandro's movie theater . Not only does it have movable armrests, but the seats are very close together. Central Cinema in Alameda even has couches!

Dates may seem ******** but seriously, they are a valuable tool with women. Like Eran said, just find something fun you like to do and ask the girl there. Worst she can say is "no" even then maybe its the activity. Maybe "no" means "I don't like to swim" or "I am not ready for you to see me in a bathing suit" so then ask them what they would like to do.

If you want a more calm date, movies are the best way to go and give you a rough budget estimate. Ask the chick if she has seen "movie title". If not, ask her if she want to go with you this Friday or whatever. If she has seen it, ask her about it and if she liked it. Then ask about another movie that maybe she hasn't seen until you find one. If it takes more than 3 tries just straight out ask her what movie she hasn't seen that you could go see together. (By this time she probably has it figured out your trying to ask anyways.)

What people seem to be doing in this thread is mistaking other's definitions of dates with their own. Some people think a date is a formulaic thing always (movie-dinner) while others think just being alone with the girl or guy is a date. I just thought I'd clear that up.

I think we can all agree that spending time alone with the person you are interested in is worthwhile.

Since I left my ex I had lots of dates. Of various kinds. Drink in a bar, a lunch, walks in parks, concerts,... Best dates are when girl comes to my place as they evidently lead to... I do meet more girls in nightclubs, but those are just for one-night stands.

If you really need to break the ice with girl you want to get to know better, then dates are only option, I guess. But dates are not just dinners, drinks or cinema, dates are when two people spend some time together.

So here's my advice: try everything, most of the girls like classic ˝American˝ dates as well as more creative ˝French˝ dates. And remember, if after three dates you don't get laid, you got a problem: a) girl is a no go b) you are in love c) you are rusty as a Russian fleet. Glad to help.

I disagree with Kosez personally on a few of the points. A bar is not a good place for a first date. It seems he is out to get laid not actually work on the more serious aspect of the relationship. All you're going to meet in clubs are chicks needing a dose of peter-cilan.

I wouldn't mind knowing the difference between a French date and an American date myself.

This whole statement is based on if your judging the woman because she won't put out. If a girl puts out on date 3 or less you had better go to the doctor and check for STDs. (a) Is being superficial. (b) I don't see why this is considered a problem. (c) you may not have been trying to go there and thus not applying pressure intentionally.

I mean seriously, there is an amount of p*ssy you can get before you start wanting a little more depth in relationships. As Fred Durst puts it, "No need to knock another homerun out."
