So it is here, somebody has finally released a perverted game
that simulates the global thermonuclear war (remember War Games?).
For all the nuclear trigger-happy wackos like me :bump: you can
download the demo here.

It is the end of the world as we know it ;)

This looks like a game I had a couple years ago called global power... MAD was the only good thing about it.

I read about this....it's an interesting concept, but the replay value must be quite low.

Truronian: Agreed. Was a terrible game. I have the demo for the sequel and it's pretty much just as bad.
nonconformist I believe that it's fairly cheap though, you can download it for £10.

It looks like a fantasticly fun game to waste half an hour to. Been looking forward to it since I heard it was coming out :D

Hopefully there will be a demo of some sort though.

Too bad you have to purchase it online.

I had a little bit of trouble with the graphics at first, but it's all nicely sorted out now and looking very pretty. So are the nukes :D

A very good time-waster of a game.

Global thermonuclear war huh? I don't see that kind of game often...
I'm going to download it.

This game has a moral lesson: DONT FIGHT A NUCLEAR WAR. EVERYBODY LOSES.

I just finished my first game: Europe vs. Sino-Indian-Arab alliance.

It was... MAD :D I managed to save parts of Eastern Europe, while the Western Europe got wiped off the map by Asian subs that somehow managed to slip through the Southern Atlantic (dammit). I must say that leaving one of my silos full of nukes to the end was a brilliant (though accidental) move - when the score timer started, I launched everything I had and wiped out the parts of Asia that survived my previous SLBM bombardment (hopefully it almost completely destroyed their anti-air defenses).

Great time killer, I must get the full version :goodjob:

I just finished my game of Europe vs USSR. I utterly dominated them by wiping out their western silos and airbases as quickly as possible. When I was sure I was safe I launched the nuclear missiles and wiped western Russia off the map.

Then I got kinda complacent. I slowly destroyed the remaining missile silos and engaged in an air campaign, completely forgetting about the enemy fleet, which must have gone all the way from the Pacific and around Africa. They launched a wonderful sneak attack on western Europe, destroying everything west of Germany. My own fleets could do little, but I ultimately 'won' the game :D

Where do you change yer name?

I don't understand how to play this game. It makes no sense whatsoever... Help?

In the demo I played (watched rather), player_1 was Central/South America, and the others were the Soviet Union and South Asia (China). Only Mexico City and a nearby city were nuked. Technically, they actually "won". They didn't lose that many people. It didn't show North America (population centers and such) though. Music's kind of eriee.

EDIT: In another one, South/Central America won despite being beaten to a pulp later one - probably because they scored a lot of direct hits early on. Asia barely got hit in that one. (The Americas destroyed eachother)

Have you played through he tutorial first?

I just did it now.

I don't really like it, I don't know if it's too much micromanagement, or the bizarreness of it. I found the naval combat to be exciting for 3 seconds, the air warfare to be nearly pointless, and the nuclear detonations to be disappointing.

Needless to say, however, I was able to completely destroy Asia and leave Tokyo (starting population: 16 million) with .6 million survivors.

Thank goodness for demos.

PC Gamer UK gave it an excellent review and a high score.

Given that I can:

1. Download it.
2. Get it for a tenner.

I'm getting it, maybe cure my CivIV addiction for like 10 minutes.

It seems the navy is important for defense in this one. In one demo, one player had their navy intact, and was barely hit.

In another though, the navies were mutually destroyed, and China literally ceased to exist.
