I'm 3/4 way through my first noble game, kicking ass, and building bigger boots to finish the game. A far cry from when I first started playing back on "Settler". It's been a gradual climb, play a few games, win, lose, learn, win, raise the difficulty. I've looked through the site and read comments on how the Ai's attitude changes a bit, and bonuses either get taken away from the player or given to the Ai. Can anyone point me to a listed difficulty or ranking for Settler to Deity? A Specific bonuses list?

BTS forum, Reference sheet; near the end of this file, you have the bonuses for each level of difficulty.

Prepare yourself for a heart attack when you look at deity :D

The really bad stuff of Deity is the extra settler ...

WOW, and thanks. Knowing is half the battle, it explains some things in my current game and what's to come. So I'd be right in assuming that as the difficulty increases the player; gets more defensive, there's less chance of an early rush, Barbs become almost more of a initial threat then the Ai, and really knowing how to manage cities becomes paramount. That extra settler is more scary then the free archers.
I think I'll play a few more noble games before moving upward.

Thanks again.

Wow, I had never looked very closely at the difficulty levels. r_rolo1 is partially right about the settler, that's definitely game-changing. But the AI costs are also a big deal as they suddenly go down by a huge amount from Imm to Deity, the (non-wonder) production and research edge of a Deity AI over Immortal AI is greater than the difference between a Noble and Immortal.

It is not that bad in bts.. in warlords and vanilla the ai got settler at immortal, and two settlers(as well as two workers) at deity...

Most of those assumptions seem correct. I wouldn't rule out an early rush however. I see top players splatter the AI with axes all the time. It depends very, very heavily on the start/map. Deity players seem to all say that you have to play the map and situation moreso than anything else. I'm not quite there yet but it seems like good advice to me...

and it depends strongly on the neighbouring AI. A Deity Shaka can easily overrun a human with only the starting archers and sometimes it happens ( some of my attempts on Deity so far ended like that..... )

:agree:

For a nice overview look at the pdf below.

Btw the 3.17-values for iUnownedWaterTilesPerBarbarianUnit are only a quarter of those in 3.13, so Barb Galleys should spawn 4 times as often .
