Pre - Turn thoughts:

Tech situation:

Even with the Ottomans.

Up Education, Gunpowder, Chemistry, Banking on the Iroqouis.
Up Education, Gunpowder, Chemistry, Banking and Chivalry on the French.
Up Banking and Chemistry on the Mongols.

Diplomatic Situation:

Peace with all but the Iroqouis.

Military Situation:

Strong compared to everyone.

Plan:
To do as much damage to the Iroqouis as possible.

Disease in Allegheney.

Really Cold City: Temple -> Market.

Centralia is ours, no resistance, 3 slaves captured.

Delhi: University -> Bank.
Bombay: Library -> Bank.
Rekjavik: Courthouse -> Marketplace.
Calcutta: University -> Bank.

Turn 3 580 AD:

Bonampak: Temple -> Library.

Had to sign an RoP with the Ottomans, to get our troops through to the last Iroqouis cities, there are

plenty of other AI cities to destroy i guess.

Pasagardae falls with 4 resisters.

Heroic Epic completes in Madras, set to Bank.

Ottomans start JS Bachs.

Summary:

The Iroqouis are dead, and we have 48% of the land area, and 58% of the population, this means we need to keep

taking cities, and building culture to cover as much ground as possible, and make all of our cities grow as much as

possible.

Good luck to the next player.

SK.

VERY NICE! Just keep the war effort going, and we'll reach the domination limit in no time! Onward Hindu Elephants!

1)alerum68 < - BETTER NOT HAVE TO PLAY AGAIN!
2)-Oblivion-
3)Blasphemous
4)SolarKnight
5)SandrockLQ <- is Up
6)SpikeIt < - Is HOPING to get a go at this.
7)Smellincoffee < - Still skipped??

I got it, but the turn log will not be up until Thursday most likely.

Slight problem. I just tried to download the save(twice), and when I open up the zip I'm not finding anything. Did anyone else have a problem with it. In any event, in order for me to play my turns I'll need a good save by Saturday morning.

Hah. Hey look at that. I didn't notice before, but the listed attachment size is 22 bytes. 22 bytes does not a civ save make. :D And just to double check, I downloaded it as well. Just an empty zip file. Oh Solar....

Hey look Blas. A corrupted Zip file! :p Not really, but amusing all the same.

The point is that a zip file will warn you when the save is corupted. ^^

Just busting your chops, Blas. :) I know the benefits of zipping up the files. Getting ready for DGiT4? Hopefully your schedule will allow you a bit more time this go around.

I'll be up to the task as long as we start it later than October 13th... I'm doing an intensive class in German in the Goethe Institut compressing a whole semster into one month, so I'll only have a two or three free days every week until mid-october.
And then on the 17th I'm starting another semester of study there (with only one lesson a week as opposed to three, thank goodness).
Actually I could probably play an early-game set with my current schedule... So let's get moving already. :P

Well, I'm less worried about getting the save by tomorrow if we can't start our 4th game till October. That being said, if the save isn't up by 8 pm saturday, i won't be able to play until Thursday again. I'm on 13 hour shifts Sun-Tues. Not only that, there is a distinct possibility I will loose power if hurricane Ivan makes his way north. (Wouldn't hurricanes be great for a Civ game?). In any event, if the save is not up in time, someone can play the set of ten, and I'll get my ten in afterwards. Assuming I have electricity at that time.

Oh, you don't have to delay the beginning for me... As I said, I can probably squeeze in a set or two of early-game turns, as tehy are very short.
I actually thought about hurricanes in civ a couple days ago... There could be a "weather-control device" gr. wonder that produces a "hurricane" unit every ten turns, this unit being a cruise missile with immense bombard, 10 ROF, 4 movement per turn and a range of 3. That way you could basically eliminate any stack. =P

That's some serious studying you have going on there Blas. Good luck with that. Compressing a whole semester of German into one month? Wow. That's pretty intense. At least you had a chance to practice a bit this summer on your trip.

As for hurricanes, blah. Not for me in Civ. We already have the volcano. Many people seem to hate the plague feature as well. With game turns representing 100, 50, 10, 5 years at a shot, having a hurricane just doesn't seem right. And it wouldn't be much different than a plague except if it destroyed improvements. Now hurricanes in SimCity - that's a lot of fun.

What's not fun are real hurricanes. Stay safe Sandrock. Man, Florida has been bombarded and if Ivan keeps up its strength, florida is going to be in lots of trouble. I feel real bad not only for what Florida has gone through already, but for all those impacted by Ivan so far. Its amazing what mother nature can dish out when she gets a bit irate.

Here is the save guys, sorry for the mix - up

It's okay SK, but I doubt this will get touched for another week now. This is the same thing that happened in all three games. Get near the end, and then we get stuck for a month.:p

Well, since I'm up next and Sandrock is okay with it... Got it. I'll make sure to post by Thursday for Sandrock... But hopefully this will be up sooner.

And hey, the zip looks okay! :goodjob: But 3650AD? Geez, this game has gone on for a while! :D (kidding, of course...)

Notes
We have 35 elephants, cavs due in 6. Starting at 48% and 58%
No outstanding deals with France or Mongols. Good.
Ottos have this stack outside Salamanca - were we allied or is there something going on? Sipahi due for them soon.
DGIT3_650AD.jpg

Ottos are up Music Theory on us. Otherwise they are even up and likely researching Sipahi.
Mongols lack Chem and Astonomy. So they have Keshiks.
French lack Gunpowder, Banking and Astonomy so they don't have their UU yet.
We have 1187 gold for rushing temples, phant upgrades, etc.

I'm not totally trusting of Ottomans, but troops in south can turn back quickly. Some phants in northern cities are heading down to borders.

[0] 650AD
Dial up research for cavs in 5. Move more elephants south with an eye at Mongols.
Move a few elephants outside Tabriz.

IBT
From Tabriz, Mongol MDI moves north from small stack. Where is he going?
A number of temples complete.

[1] 660AD
Continue troop movement. Cavs in 4. Mongols have 7 cities total. One is offshore, to be the new Mongol capital. Our first attack will be Persepolis. Mongols don't have saltpeter, so no muskets.

IBT
Mongol MDI fortifies on mountain. How cute.

[2] 670AD
Let's get this started. Mongols don't have much on their borders. Expecting lots of pikes and maybe Keshiks. Let's find out.
Ghandi, on a platform of bringing peace to the world decides to show off his elephants to the Mongols...
Our elite elephant clears out the MDI, redlining. Ouch.
We pick up a couple of slaves and then pull up next to Persepolis. Another small stack pulls up to the Mongol horses. Let's see what we'll face next turn.
Cavs due in 3, dial back research to pull in 136 gpt, still in 3 turns.

IBT
Some Mongol longbows move about.
We love the Mahatma days end.

[3] 680AD
Persepolis: Army takes out three pikes. Two elite victories later and Persepolis is ours.
We clear out a longbow, and lose an elephant to a longbow as well.

IBT
Our elephant defeats a Keshik.

[4] 690AD
Pull up next to Almarikh and Kazan.

IBT
Military Tradition comes in. We start on Physics.
Persepolis resistance ends.
A number of culture expansions.

[5] 700AD
Kazan: No losses, kills 3 pikes and an MDI. Kazan is ours. Move some elephants into Kazan and upgrade them to cavs, instantly healing them!
Almarikh: We lose one elephant, but its ours. 8 resistors!
Move elephant out of Persepolis to avoid losing in flip. Settlers are heading south to fill in gaps.

IBT
Nothing to note

[6] 710AD
Ottomans pull Physics
We locate hidden Mongol cities.
Mongol gally drops off an MDI!

IBT
Some more cultural expansions. And we add a new addition to our palace. Some nice looking greenery and a 2nd floor to one of the annex buildings.

[7] 720AD
France pulled gunpowder finally. If only she had saltpeter. There is a source near her though.

We clear the Mongol MDI.
Ta-tu: Army clear one pike. First cav goes in and promptly loses. 2nd retreats! Oh, c'mon. 3rd dies to MDI. Lose another to another pike. Aargh. 'phant army clears another, but we'll hold off. There are still two units, and I only have 2 cavs left to attack.

Things go better at Karkorum. I lose a few cavs, but the the 'phants held their own (why did I upgrade so many?) and the last cav from Kazan comes in and takes the city and the MoM.

4 cavs unload next to Ulaanbaater.

Next turn...

IBT
MDI takes out cav at Ullanbaater.
Mongol longbow heads toward empty city.
Ottomans complete Leonardos, and Sistines.

[8] 730AD
Ta-tu: things go much better. 0 losses and Ta-tu is ours.
I'm one cav short to take Tabriz as one red-lined pike is left.
Same situation at Ulaanbaater. One 2/4 pike left.
Spike-It's Beach is found on coast north of Kazan.

IBT
Okay, feel like I'm play Press Your Luck... no flips, no flips, no whammy's (er, flips).
Hey, looks like the French would like to battle as swords approach Karkorum. How nice.
We learn Physics start Magnetisim.
Oh yeah, no flips.

[9] 740AD
Tabriz falls.
Ulaanbaatar falls as I attack redlined pike with redlined cav. The Mongols are no more.
The resisting populace, so intrigued by our elephants, decides to stop rioting and instead willfully joins the Indian people.

Let's ask the French what they are doing next to Karkorum.
DGIT3_740AD_French.jpg
Hey Joannie. Kindly remove your swordmen... Oh, you'd rather fight. Fine. War happiness, baby.
And now there are two less swordmen to fight.

IBT
And nothing from the French. How nice.

[10] 750AD
Well, troops down south are a little weak but should be enough to start on the French. I'll try and concentrate troops to set up for the final push. Keep an eye on the Ottomans. They don't have Military Tradition yet, but they have troops in the west that can cause trouble. As long as the Ottomans don't get involved, wiping out the French and a couple temple builds should be all she wrote. Oh yeah, don't attack Rheims across the river.

We're now at 58% and 72%. Conquer and settle and we are done. Have fun.

Don't settle... let's just do a Conquest victory. Kill and raze. Don't waste troops trying to hold cities, just open the land up to nothing. First, destroy the Ottomans before they get any stronger. Then we'll finish up in the south with the french. They're not worth the effort at this point.

Demi-God level next?

Heh. Thought you didn't want to see this come back to you again. :p
Demi-God, yes, yes, yes. Although with the wrong map, we'll get smacked quick, as I experienced in Gram 2.0. Should be fun no matter.

I say end this one quick. I don't want to see this again. The Ottomans are going to be a pain. Muskets in size 12 cities, sitting on hills. Yech. They don't have the Sipahi yet. Our current makeup is a bit weak to take them on. Will we conquer them? Yes, of course. Then again, unless we raze some of our own towns, we may win by domination first anyhow. We're not that far off and there are a number of cities close to expanding.

Plus if we get started on DGIT4 soon, Blas might get some turns in before his next schooling round. :D

Yay. :D
I'm actually on vacation from now through Saturday... It's kinda odd after a week in which I had five days of no time for anything to suddenly have four days of complete freedom.

I have complete freedom next week, but not this week. This week I have to worry about Hurricane Ivan and tests..
