Obligatory quote:
If a fallen enemy reaches out a hand for assistance, the wise man lops it off. If a friend does you a good turn when you’re down, wait until he’s down, then beat him to death. If an ally asks for your help in planning the next season’s moves, give it freely and copiously, then do the reverse of what you agreed and let him take the counter-attack. Try to surround yourself with people who trust you, then let them down; find an ally who will gladly die for you and see that he does just that.

R.I.P DipNES. Russia might've won.

Orders will be accepted on: this thread, my visitor messages, or my PM box. Multiple ordersets will naturally be accepted, and conflicting ordersets will naturally all be declared invalid. 9 PM GMT is a strict deadline, and anything sent afterwards will be disregarded.

I will be adjudicating with implicit convoy rules. That is, to convoy an army from London to Portugal through English Channel and Mid-Atlantic, you'd only have to write:
Spoiler :

A Lon -> Por
F eng c A Lon -> Por
F mao c A Lon -> Por

rather than:
Spoiler :

A Lon -> Por via eng and mao
F eng c A Lon -> Por
F mao c A Lon -> Por

Use all this to your advantage. If you have a question about order format, ask me first before you submit potentially invalid orders.

I suppose I may as well join.

While totally clueless at how to play Diplomacy effectively, you can count me as a dedicated lurker. :)

As others have pointed out, I am not terribly great at this game, but I will be happy to play.

Do not let NWAG join if you enjoy having a game that survives.

No offense, bro, but you have a problem.

Playing.

I have matured a bit since the old days- since I promised specifically that I would stay in INES III for the long haul I have, and if necessary I'll promise to stay in this game to it's conclusion.

Yeah, that might have sorted a little problem? Not the Bigger Problems.

Yeah, that might have sorted a little problem? Not the Bigger Problems.

I'd be curious to hear your argument. What are these Bigger Problems?

Personally I'd like to give NWAG a chance. But w.e; would any of the players who expressed interest, retract said interest if I were to let NWAG play?

I'd like in.

I played diplomacy twice in college but had great fun and even though i won't be a strong contender for the title, i hope to at least stir the pot.

Feeling adventurous and/or suicidal. In.

In. Played this game once or twice before and enjoyed, probably need to read up on the rules before it starts though.

Incidentally I'm working on a diplomacy-like version of EkoNES II.

Right, that was quick.

I've gone ahead and rolled the countries using #neschat's own floating skull (Morte).

Since we've had more interest than there are slots available, I've put all the extras on a Reserve Players list; if someone unfortunately drops out, the person currently at the head of the Reserve Players list may take their place.

I've made the first orders deadline 3 days from now, so people who don't really know how to play can at least read the official manual (and hopefully the first 3 chapters of Richard Sharp's Game of Diplomacy). From then on, updates will come every two days, unless we can unanimously agree that the game can be sped up a bit. Orders will be accepted on: this thread, my visitor messages, or my PM box. Multiple ordersets will naturally be accepted, and conflicting ordersets will naturally all be declared invalid. Use this to your advantage.

Good luck and have fun!

You just joined and quit Balmung. You quit and rejoin NESing every few months.

I see no reason to believe that you won't repeat the pattern.

Don't worry, he rolled Turkey; even an inactive Turkey can survive intact for years.

We send our orders to Italy?
