DLC Modpack Repository

Hello all. I have an issue using Jdudes modpack with MP. As far as I know is supposed to be safe to use for MP, and as of this moment I am using the 9-19+ version that was updated as of 9-24. My issue is that me and my friend get frequent crashes with this mod, we have installed and uninstalled and even redownloaded all of civ 5 at one point, and yet we normally get crashes every ten turns. This does not happen in Single player, and once my friend experiences one crash, it gets more and more frequent. I have had this issue when using this mod pack with a different friend, and I can not figure out how to fix this. Any help is appreciated.

If you're playing multiplayer, make sure you have no barbarians and no events checked. Hopefully that helps!
 
Would chilled barbarians and no events be enough to suffice? Barbarians spice up the game for us. Thanks for your quick reply by the way
It has to be no barbarians, the newest community patch in multiplayer doesn't work with barbarians, it'll be fixed soon (hopefully).
Also, with modpacks in multiplayer crashes seem to be inevitable, I would recommend playing with pitboss so the AI doesn't play for you.
Multiplayer is pretty difficult to play with the most up to date modpacks right now because everything is still being developed, it may be best to use the stable version on the first page.

Ah okay. I'll probably just wait and see if an update comes out then, I knew there would be crashes but having a crash every turn at some points gets to be too much. Also do you have an ETA on when barbarians will be fixed for MP?

The barbarians may be working with the newest patch, I would say just try this modpack for now. I'll see if I can make a multiplayer compatible version some time soon.
 
Am I missing something? I downloaded pza's modpack, extracted it, put it into the DLC Folder, but it's not running.

I'm positive the error was mine but I don't know what I did.
 
did you place the two folders inside the .zip into C:\Games\Steam\steamapps\common\Sid Meier's Civilization V\Assets\DLC ?

and you got vanilla instead of vp?

anyone else got problems?

Okay, I redid it, and it worked. Must've made a stupid mistake somewhere before. The error is definitely not with the modpack though.

I've split the modpack into two versions, one for singleplayer (SP) and one for multiplayer (MP)
The only difference is the MP version doesn't have Events and Decisions, Community Events, or Civic and Reform.
The settings multiplayer was tested with didn't have the events system off, it had barbarians turned off and all of the seperate events (no bad events, no good events, etc.) off as well.

Hello again, the other day when you linked me to a different modpackfor VP to use for MP, me and my friend tested it with barbarians and events on and it went up until turn 110 and only crashed once. Does this mean that events and barbarians works with that modpack for some reason or did we just get lucky?

There was a fix at the beginning of the mounth about barbarians desync. We're still waiting for more data to says that "barbarians works", but they surely work better than before.

I was in a private conversation with someone and they said it was working when they used the settings listed above.
I'm guessing it's because there were only two of you, the people who were having issues were a group so it was probably because of performance.
So you didn't get lucky, if there are only two of you it may be better to try the single player modpack.

Okay, hopefully this is the last time I am bothering you with this, but I am planning on hosting a game with 4 players, myself included, so that is why I am wanting to know these things. We had the issues with constant crashes with just the two of us with barbarians and events with your modpack, but we did not have them with the other modpack, and events plus barbarians were on in that test session too. Is there anything else in your singleplayer modpackthat could be causing these issues? (Such as certain maps, or a certain mod.) Once again I am sorry to pester you about this but I am wanting to have us be able to play and not have the game become unplayable due to constant crashes resulting in us not being able to play.

The group of people that had it working had the same mods as the multiplayer modpack except for Capture+ and were able to play over 100 turns without any issues.
If you really want to play it safe you can use the exact same modpack they used, it's a little out of date but definitely works.
