DMI VII - Team BtS

i think we need to have a look to the east sooner rather than later to hopefully find some more food rich area's.

i agree with the mids, the happiness boost will be a welcome add to our trait health.

we need to investigate the squares that are still under the fog around the stones, there might be a good city location down there.

We have a roster update... finally we have a full team :D

1. r_rolo1
2. Trieste
3. pawelo
4. Ad Hoc
5. Bindamel
6. Refar ( new guy... guess who will wash the latrines? :D :p  )

Bronze working finished, wheel finished, just started on pottery. I Didn't revolt to slavery yet, didn't want to get a slave revolt event. The scout spent a few turns healing and dodging (or trying to dodge) lions and a bear, got a map from one hut and gold from another. Washington appeared with an archer southeast of Moscow. It would have been a lot better to mine the plains hill right away instead of building farms we'll cottage over in a few turns anyway, sorry  . No copper anywhere, map is pretty bare.

Clearly we should expand south.... but we don't have a clear good site for second city ( and no cooper in sight .... not good )

Mr pawelo, take the wheel, Mr Ad Hoc .... wait a little more ;)

Just to say "Hi :wavey:" to the team for now :D

Gotcha!

Going to be scouting a little more to the north and get some of the cottages up.
I would revolt to Slavery asap - we are running 3 food tiles and have no whip?

Any ideas for the research ? Writing for Philo-boosted GS and then Priesthood for the Oracle ?

Welcome aboard Refar!

Not a great world, we need to keep scouting to the north and east. Washington isn't a bad neighbour

i'd cottage those river grasslands asap, we're nearly at the happy cap already so growth isn't going to be an issue.

i'm with pawelo on revolting to slavery which we're going to need it to chop the oracle anyway.

@ Refar , happy tail gunning :goodjob:

To get this one going, and because I had a small civ frame, here is a sum up of the next 15.

As I said, no need to stay out of Slavery while we have such a nice early food potential :D Revolt on the inherited turn.

31
I started pre-chopping duties for the upcoming Oracle
Scout got promoted with Wood 1 to heal faster

33
Juda FIDL (HOLY EARLINESS )

34
Warrior - Scout (there is still so much to be discovered)
Pre-chopping another tile.
In hindsight, I should have mined one or two hills instead
There is Copper out there

36
Meet Hatty, near the copper area

39
Pottery - Mysticism
Scout - Settler
Lost our warrior to a barb warrior between turns
Rice is connected (I was waiting for Pottery)

41
First cottage is up and running.

IBT
Lost our new scout (wounded, still on a jungle hill) to a barb warrior

42
Start a cottage over the farm

43
Mysticism - Polytheism on the beutiful Oracle path

45
Whip the settler for 2 pop and 20 hammers overflow (not bad given it will regrow)

A small state of the world pic, with culture influence on:

Always nice to do it to see hide-outs of the missing opponents. Btw, Hatty seems to have already Memphis up.
This emptiness to the south makes me feel there might be another one hiding down there.
Our continenent seems nice, though the food is scarce.
The settler is ready to go on the next turn, debate the overflow investment (warrior to escort or granary ?)
The copper area (thought it might be nice to show it if we want to settle there):

Handing the wheel to AdHoc for more fun :woohoo:

Rosty:

1. r_rolo1 - fearless C'ptain
2. Trieste - the 1st mate
3. pawelo - the, well, mate, just played and had a hard time with the barbs
4. Ad Hoc - the steering officer, UP
5. Bindamel - the guy on the top of the stick to look far away around (please, gimme this word ;)) - on deck
6. Refar - the cleaning guy :D

I'm having a "axe Hatty " wish... seriously, the land is not stellar ( the jungle in the south looks promissing, but it will take a while to put it rolling... beter leave it to a AI for cleaning and then taking ) and a extra capitol would be handy. If we go that way I suggest ( this is not a order :p ) this site for 2nd city:
2ndcity.jpg

( sorry for the bad lining, made in Paint ( not in my computer .aarg: )

Seriously food chalenged, but with cooper + corn and in the way of Hatty... I think it would serve our propose well... but we need some more intel on Hatty's land

Time for discussion on the placement of city 2, I've been looking at it and i've got a hankering for this

dmviit45copperareayu5.jpg

the main drawback is everything is a border pop away from being useful,

however it looks like we're on a plains hill +1:hammers: once it pops we've got two food resources, copper and three grassland hills.

tech wise poly - priest no brainer

We could settle on the Desert 1E of the copper. Makes for a weaker long-term potential, but might help to move faster on the Axerush. Copper and Oasis workable right away, the Mountain-Corns after a boarder pop.

How about 1 NW of the copper? Some river tiles, some grassland, a plains hill and Copper right away. No fresh water bonus, but health shouldn't be our growth problem for a while.

4 heads, 4 opinions.... :crazyeye:

We have a awfully bad land in the surroundings, a thing that makes dotmapping a pain in the @ss. But I'll make some considerations:
- My spot is the easier to link to capitol and is more strealined with proposed path of action
-Ad hoc city has a better potential overall, but will be hard to develop until CS
-Refar city has better short term potential, but weak long term prospects
-Trieste spot has a better prod potential

Now we only need that Bindamel and pawelo to drop other sugestions to add further confusion

i'll stick up for my spot, it's actually most probably the easiest to develop once its popped it's border, dont forget that the oasis is a source of fresh water so the grassland south of it can be irrigated for +1:food:

what we could really do with is finding out what is north of our capn's city food wise

not certain that a river connects cities if it isn't in your cultural boundaries, can anyone confirm if it does

AdHoc is right for the long term potential. However, doing an axe rush on Hatty would be more effective with Trieste's or Refar's option. Moreover, I agree river makes the difference in the late game, but I'm must say I don't like your spot c'ptain :D
I would go for Trieste's spot if we aim to rush or for Refar's spot if we aim to block. AdHoc would be great if we don't plan a quick rush.

i'll let bindi has his say before i play, i'll send the scout up north first while moving the settler, the scout should reveal a bit more terrain before we have to make a final decision on city placement. i think we definately need a warrior escort though so i'm for putting the overflow into one.

My original thought was the same as Ad Hoc, but as a player who is not usually aggressive enough, I'm thinking that the more aggressive placement of r_rolo could be advantageous against Hatty.

I'm also good with 1E of the copper. The grass hill west of the southern corn could be a nice commerce city, and is compatible with either of those spots. If we go for a religion (code of laws?, I notice someone advocating heading to priesthood.), it would be nice to get that third city up to get the religion and an eventual shrine.

Will play and post this evening but just need a consensus on city 2 placement.

i guess it all comes down to if we're rushing hatty or not? any opinions? i guess me and bindamel are the conservative non aggresive team members but we'll go with the majority.

tech path poly - priest - writing
