DMI VII - Team BtS

My bad... :hammer2: I told you to play... Trieste, fell free to shoot m.. err, to play

The rest of the hatty's cities will be hard to crack, even with cats. Maybe turtling for some turns would be advisable

End of the war and some tech trading, economy is :crazyeye: as usual for this part of the game

111-
whip the monument in Memphis to avoid starvation
either there was a border pop or Hatty dumped a city up north to get the silver
Finish construction and start alph with the intention of trading with washington

112-
I open borders with America and Mongolia
you may notice a new forest west of St. Pete's :)

113-
I sent 2 spearmen out to kill war chariots in St Pete' bfc

114-
War chariots fortified on the oasis, the AI must see it as a resource worth blockading. The 2 spearmen attack 2 chariots and win at over 95% odds, this grand feat of strategy inspires a great general  . H also sent a chariot into the southern jungle so I moved a spearman to the FP city spot so she wouldn't bite us in the soft, exposed underbelly

did some trading this turn:

Spoiler :

this was a fair trade in beakers

this not so fair, but if Russia didn't trade math to Mongolia, Washington would

also got peace from Hatty this turn, she gave up fishing. I was a bit hesitant to do so because she had iron, but there was team consensus to have a short war only and the Russian economy is terrible (who says civ isn't realistic?)

The iron placement is good too. Hatty's is SE of memphis and could be burned before we even get to her cities in future wars. There is also Iron in Moscow's bfc :)

115-
---

116-
Kublai declares on... Washington! :D This must mean Mongolia is further out on that peninsula than America. I'm convinced now that we're on a pangea-type map (but with land bridges/chokepoints) and that someone circumnavigated the world with a scout.
H is sending out settlers again

117-
Pyramids built somewhere

118-
+2g at 30% sci, -1g at 40% sci. 1 g in the treasury.
Worker>lib in st. pete's

117-
H is sending the settler/chariot toward America now? She's been moving it around a lot in ways that don't make sense at all to me

119-
Christianity fiadl.
The settler is done in moscow, I've started a catapult to give it a chance to grow but there are no shields invested so fer.

there are 2 decent spots that would get the FP, one that would get 3 plains hills and one that would get the pigs

Spoiler :

I'd vote for the first one

sometime in there I singed open borders with H, probably a bad move but we can cancel soon/if she starts sending settlers through Russia.

Currency is being researched now,

Merry Christmas everyone! :)

got it but will wait for some comments on the city placement,
i'm with Trieste for place 1,looks like it could be a good production city.

good turns Trieste, if hatty starts coming through our lands i'll cancel OB.

Good prod city means good cossack city

Vote on the first, though these piggies are nice too... Will have to grab them with the next city though.

Nice turns Trieste and well done on the tech trades!

a very quiet set of turns, only a few turns actuallY had anything of consequence happen.

T121 Novgorod was settled to pick up the grassland FP,

T123 Both Wash and KK came looking for help in their war,

i thought about a phony war with Wash against KK but decided against it in the end

T127 and our iron is hooked up,

T128 KK came calling for poly and giving archery, a bit light so i decline

T130 Wash and KK make peace

and that was the excitement of my 15 turns.

General notes, our GG is asleep in St Petersburg, do we settle or warlord?
I haven'y used the whip so its available if we want to start a military build up to take out Hatty at some stage

MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE

:)

Poor, poor eco of ours

I think we better get that Currency fast - is there a way to turn on a scientist or two ?

I hope your next 10 will be more exciting AdHoc :)

Merry christmass to all of you too!

Seems like our game is lagging a little bit.

Bindamel, can you got it or do you ask for a skip ?

And where is our fearless c'ptain when we need him ? :salute:

Edit: As for the GG, I would make a super CR3 axe/sword with the GG. It payed a huge lot in the PW-02 game, it may as well be a nice thing to go after remaining Hatty cities once we are back @war with her.

I let this to lag because of Xmas ( I was completely drowned in Xmas stuff as well ), but now it's time to work.

Roster update

1. r_rolo1
2. Trieste
3. pawelo
4. Ad Hoc - just played
5. Bindamel - Up... 24 h to post a got it
6. Refar - On deck

I got it, haven't had a chance to look at it, though. I typically settle my first GG, but I'm not sure if any of our cities are promising military production centers. I have never done the Great general as fighter thing, I'd be hesitant to use him unless the odds were very good (I've lost at 99.1, after all).

I may get to play it tonight, at the very least I'll take a look at the save.

Probably won't get any feedback before I play, but I wanted to make a few comments, now that I can look at the save.

Our military is small: 7 spearman, 3 axemen, 2 cats, 1 warrior. If we're going after Hatty, we need to build in a big way.

None of the cities shout out production city to me, which means settling the GG may not be ideal.

Saint Pete's is a bit food poor; chain farmed it would produce more food than necessary to work all the hills, even. St Pete's already has two cottages, I think we should continue to cottage it for a commerce city, leaving space to irrigate the corn later. Then again, we're philosophical, should we be starting to farm it over for specialists?

Novgorod, with the farmed grassland flood plain, has only three other potential +food tiles (although one is shared with the capital, and should probably remain cottaged), each a grassland plain that only gets +1. So it has 8 excess food (excluding the capital's tile), which means we can work all the plains hills for +16 hammers. So it will have some decent production eventually.

Alexandria has two food tiles, corn and pigs, but the pigs are shared with Memphis. It has one hill (plains), and a river. I really don't know what to do with this city.

Memphis, besides a clam and the shared pig, has 5 plains, 7 coast/ocean, and 4 peaks. The one hill is currently Egyptian. I'm not sure what to do there either.

I'm going to groom Hatty's cities to at least be running two scientists, after library builds. I'm not sure what else to do with them.

Our capital is definitely cottageable, but we need some happy to get beyond six pop.

Unless I hear otherwise, I'm going to try to start developing Novgorod as a production city, St. Pete's and the capital as commerce cities, continue on currency, and if throw in a unit build or two where possible.

I want to comment about another potential city site (I know, our economy is not currently interested). South of Novgorod, and NW of the Barbarian coastal city, there is a site which would have pigs (+3 :food:), sugar (+2 :food:, rice (+2 :food:, irrigatable with CS), 7 grassland hills (-7 :food:, +21 :hammers:), one plains iron (-1 :food:, +5 :hammers:)and one plains hill (-2 :food:, +4 :hammers:). There are some farmable grassland tiles to round out the food shortage. The biggest issue with it is that it's mostly jungle, and will take a while to get going.

Clearly a good prod spot , but it is not for now.....

About cities: I would had razed menphis if it was in my turnset.... bad city and with intense overlap with alexandria ( that one is decent... maybe cottaging the plains while using the food resources would be good ). The only use I can see for Menphis is to hold a couple of scientists .... Norvogorod as a prod central is a no brainer and we seriously need the cottages going up ,so be free to cottage the capitol and S. Pete

And a retroactive :whipped: to Ad Hoc for passing anno domini without posting ( checkpoint 2..... ). If you still have a save from then post it :gripe:

The end of this turnset is AD 800, which is a checkpoint, I believe.

First, good luck on the AP win:

Ouchie.

Barb city settled on the iron in my future prod. city. Troops are in place to raze it as of 800 AD.

New friend met:

We need to chat about how we want to handle diplomacy. I refused Izzy Construction, and Kublai Currency, as well as refusing to stop trading with Washington (also Kublai) this set.

Techwise, I made two trades, one to Izzy, who was the only one who didn't have construction, and one to Kublai, who was the only one who didn't have Monarchy:

I've mostly used the whip to improve cities and get more units (see below), and am running scientists just about everywhere.

We have both a GG and a GS (currently bulbing Aesthetics) to decide what to do with, and Hereditary Rule and Caste System available. I have not revolted. I would say definitely HR, although I don't know if it's better to wait until after CS is in so we can go Bureaucracy too.

Oh, and Hatty grabbed Zeus, so watch the War Weariness when we go after her.

Things seem up again :)

I'm amazed AP was built that early - I've already seen it around 700-800 but never that early. And it's not Izzie, so who is there in the shadows pushing the Buddhist belief ?

I like your spot pretty much Bindamel, it'll be a very nice heavy farm-supported prod site.

Looking good.... it seems that we recovered from the war. That means that is time to smash hatty for good ( remember that killing a civ gives points  ... and WW increases with the era ,so sooner is better ) Refar should prepare the troops for that ( I want to smash hatty *devilish laugh* )

Other issue: we need to check who are the AP and the Oracle guys... they'll be the big problems in this game

Side question : is some1 working on Immy's reports ?

I think i am up next ?

I took a look at the save.

Bindamels Production Spot looks good, however we need some Commerce first. We are barely running profint at 0% Slider.

To the GS.

I am i.G. not goog at bulbing Paths, so correct me if i am wrong... Our options are:
- Bulbing Aestetics :(
- We tech Sailing (4Turns), and he bulbs us Compass.
- We Tech Mysticism (4Turns) and he bulbs us Philosophy.

From those 3 i like Philo the most - Liberalism path + the most expensive. However... the immediate Gain of the tech is limited - we can't afford Pacifism, and probably do not have time for AgnkorWat. The Religion is already taken...

So whats left are settling or Akademy... But where ? We dont seem to have a Commerse or High-Food science city...

@ pawelo

I should be, but have 2 Gs in the next 24 h ( and Trash game and MLG 5 and 6 and the LHC X to play and..... oh well ,you know the drill ) If a kind soul wants to do that for me I'll be eternally grateful ;)

@ Refar

I think that academy in capitol may be a less than bad idea...

Uh... Am i looking at the wrong save  We are at 0% slider, barely making profit - troops cost is our main expense... And when they go outside out boarders it will become even more expensive...

We are at half of Hatty's power too, so we will need a lot more troops, which will become more expensive...

I think we are in a dare need of some economic build-up

@Refar

Regarding the GS, I would go for the Philo bulb. Religion and tech-trade benefit :D
Academy would pay off if we had more cottages.
Settling would be a nice idea if we had the mids.
