DMI XII - Imhotep's Legacy

I would like the great spy to build Scotland Yard. That alone will give us enough EP to cover most of the game.

I have quite some units near Illinois when I realise it's still size 1
That's why it's still a barb city after my set ;) I had those 3 axes knocking on it's door during my set, but it was size 1 so I dropped that idea.

Not that I'm really impatient, but I just felt a need to bump. :bump:

Come tomorrow evening: I'll be offline 'till sunday. Competing in the largest sailing race in the Netherlands :trophy2:

Thanks for bumping, wasn't really aware I'm up :D . Will play now...

I like Lee's suggestion of Scotland Yard in Thebes. We already have a stronger EP spending on our two opponents, and so it will further increase.

Boudica gets frisky. We need to focus on military for a few turnsets now I think.

A look into the other barb city. I suggest we raze it and resettle it on red dot, thus we can squeeze in two strong cities in the area.

We get an excellent event.

No deal there, Lady.

The barb city had grown to size 2 earlier this set, but I know my barb combat luck and assembled more troops - 2 swords and a WC. And indeed I lost 2 units...

MC came in, Forges were ordered all over the place and whipped for the increased overflow.

The reason why I suggest razing and resettling. With the fish and the cow this city can develop into a good production city, while we can develop the other into a good commerce city.

We clearly need to work on military for a few sets now.

With all our troops headed for barb clearance we were not in the spot to declare...

10zt0.jpg

And it was well I didn't! Soon after Boudica made peace which would have left us alone with a much more powerful Monty...and I chased the Parthenon and lost the race by 6 turns. The MoM is still open.

11gq1.jpg

Monty has HAs. The next player should make a quick detour to Hunting so we can build Spears.

A Settler is ready in Thebes in 3 for the new spot, next player can raze the barb city.

I will see if I get to this tonight. I have a decent amount of stuff I must complete tonight.

After tonight I will be out of the loop Thursday and Friday (most). I will either post a report tonight or a request for a swap.

900 AD
I swap Alexandria to settler, and cancel the settler in the capitol. The three extra turns to build it offset by the distance to the new city site above the barb city. 900 AD already seems late for the Mausoleum, so I don't want to delay it another 3 turns.

I can't find any discussion about Moai. However, Memphis has little land to work. It can build it in just 12 turns. I decide to build it there after the courthouse.
(IT) Monty demands metal casting, and I give it to him. I prefer he hate Boudica more...
I agree spears would be nice, so I queue up hunting.

920 AD
(IT) We already have a nice capitol, so I queue up civil service.
We get free spread of Judaism. :)

940 AD
(IT) Barb galley shreds some fishing boats. I already have a trireme in process to deal with it.

1010 AD
The last unit available razed Sarmatian. We picked up two badly needed workers. :)

1020 AD
(IT) The barb galley is toast.

1040 AD
The "re-settle here" city has been built.
(IT) We complete the Mausoleum of Maussollos.
I revolved to civil service.

1050 AD
Paper is queued up for the next possible wonder - Sankore.

If the idea of Moai in Memphis doesn't work, let us discuss it before the Z man plays.
Even with capturing 2 workers we are short. I have another building in the capitol right now.
Elephantine built some military, but we need more.
When do we want to start spreading our shrine religion?
Do we want National Epic in the capitol to multiply all those wonders? We need just 5 turns.

Good turns Lee. We discussed building Moai in Memphis earlier, if not for the hammers then for the alliteration. It got delayed to build some military first.

Spreading Judaism is atm only good for shrine income since we have no state religion. I don't think we'll be building either Oxford or Wall Street in Thebes and I always delay the NE. So for a change let's build it in Thebes now.

Yes, Memphis is the place for Moai. It has 15 or 16 water tiles. As for the capital, I mostly go with Ironworks and Oxfgord or Wall Street there to maximize the Bureaucracy bonus. But it's true that I delay NE in most of my games too long and in the end I never build it :D . So it's fine if we build it in the capital, it has some nice wonders already which generate some GPP.

The next goals are clear: workers and military :D .

I believe our Dye city (Heliopolis?) is a stronger commerce site. Wouldn't it be better to have Wall Street and/or Oxford there? And what happened to the Parthenon build I saw in one of the screenshots? Was that project abandoned? That would be a better project then NE if it hasn't been built already.

P.S Glad to know I'm not the only one to postpone NE (indefinitely):)

I believe Immy mentioned that he missed the Parthenon by 6 turns I think.

I agree with going military more. We should make our island "our" island soonish so we can think about the other island.

We have a long way to go before Wall Street, so we can decide later which city is best as then we can actually tell which city is producing the most commerce.

@·Imhotep· - what font are you using for your civ theme? It looks really nice. I'm getting a little sick of arial.

@MyOtherCar:

we missed Parthenon by 6 turns and got 200 gold for it.

@ruff:

The font is called Maiandra GD and comes with MS Word I believe, at least it was installed in my version of Office 2003.

Got it for workers, workers and more workers. Oh, and also some military. We are sharing an Island with Montezuma and Boudica, after all

Fairly quiet set.

I built lots of workers, and settled a GSpy in our Capital:

Angkor Wat, AP and Hagia Sofia were BIFAL.
University of Sankore is a couple of turns from completion in our capital.

Do shrines count toward our wonder count?

No, shrines do not count. They are World Wonders, but they are somewhat easier to build...
