First of all, sorry for the big delay. I had some Civ issues that forced me to pass last night uninstalling and reinstalling Civ IV :badcomp:

Anyway, were we go with the show.

Mr Z left me with some turns to rifling with a hefty deficit spending. No need to change that ;)

[greyfox]But that sleepy spy in a already conquered city ......[/greyfox]

But we had some huge issues to resolve, like that humble monty stack ( just the way he likes it: big and outdated ). I decided to put there all our strengths.

But before of we could take the city we got to:

In hind sight i should had revolted to Merc too. Anyway , I set the research on Astro: we really need to be able to trade with someone :p

Back in the Kipling's Big Game (TM), with the help of a spy revolt:

Civ4ScreenShot0081.jpg

Good.....

Now with a sizable stack of cuiraseers ( soon to receive some cavs and some drafted rifles ( no more than 3 ). putted my greedy eyes in the aztec cap and shrined city ( and because it was the only horse source of the aztecs ....that would stop that pesky swarms of knights )

And after a 2 turn interval ( another spy revolt... thanks for the pre work, Z ):
Spoiler :
Civ4ScreenShot0087.jpg

That will help :p

BTW we got 2 GP in our turnset:
Spoiler :
Civ4ScreenShot0083.jpg

Civ4ScreenShot0085.jpg

Both still unused.

Without their cap and without horses, the ability of fighting back of the Aztecs had gone down badly. I took 2 more cities ( all revolted... no time to lose ):
Spoiler :
Civ4ScreenShot0084.jpg

Civ4ScreenShot0086.jpg

I debated myself a while about keeping that one. I only kept it because of this:
Spoiler :
Civ4ScreenShot0089.jpg

Not sure if it is a good idea to acept it ASAP. There is still a city that I would like to have in our empire:
Spoiler :
Civ4ScreenShot0088.jpg

Besides releasing a lot of cultural pressure out of our newly adquired possessions, it has gold and FPs, that would seriously help the economy ( that is in shambles, as probably the MM :p ( I tend to shun city MM during wars ) ). A cav+ cuir raid is perfectly feasible ( we have a spy on site , as in other 2 cities ) so I strongly suggest that we take this city.

Other thing that we should consider is that if Monty vassals to us ( or to Boudi, in this case ) and if Boudi is targetting us ( poor soul ;) ), Boudi will DoW ASAP. So if we vassal Monty, we should be ready to resume warring ( the same applies if we try to finish Monty and get a path into Boudiland , a thing that I avoided for now ). So much for a peaceful game, at least for a while :p

Nice play r_rolo. Looks like Montezuma is on the ropes :hammer:

I actually left the spy there deliberately, although I apologize if I fortified it. I was hoping it wouldn't get caught idling in our lands, but you were too sharp for me :p

As for Vassalization, in general I am against it, because we don't gain anything meaningful when compared with a Peace Treaty, but we have a tactical opportunity here. After capturing any cities we want (def. Tlatelolco) we can vassal Monty, and let Boudica suicide her stack on Aztec cities. If she captures one or two, well she won't have them for long :mischief:.

Monty has to cede all tiles in our cities' BFCs if he is our vassal, so the only cultural pressure we have to worry about is city revolts.

Definitely nice progress here. I agree the city would be a worthy addition, and that it can be taken with minimal effort - 7 or 8 Curassiers should do the trick even without a successful city revolt. I have not looked at the save though - how many cities has Monty left? I like vassals if they can contribute significantly towards your own empire, and that means teching at least not too badly. But we have broken Monty now, so it may be better to get rid of him for good. We will have to deal with Boudica later anyway as she is likely to turn towards us as target if Monty is no longer a threat.

Hey, just got back yesterday. I'm gonna need to do some catch up on both work and civ. I'll need a skip this round. Sorry for holding up the game guys.

Take one or two monty cities ( see my report ), vassal him if it pleases you and prepare to withstand Boudi counterstrike. Ah and when Astro comes by, make some resource deals and OBs ;)

Hmmm .... if MOC doesn't play by Friday night, I can take it.

I've got it then. Will play sometime today or tomorrow.

Started off whipping some red faces, and MM most of the cities to work better tiles. I'm not Fox, so no :gripe: :p

Bede said we're great, and I believe him :D

Civ4ScreenShot0000-60.jpg

Settled the GS at Thebes

Civ4ScreenShot0001-58.jpg

Catherine stopped by with a demand and was promptly sent away

Civ4ScreenShot0002-56.jpg

And Boudica stopped by asking for OB, and was also sent packing ( I don't want her troops in our borders and I don't want her to settle the few remaining sites we still have not settled yet)

Civ4ScreenShot0003-56.jpg

Took Tlateloco

Civ4ScreenShot0004-49.jpg

Astro came in and I chose Chem next

Civ4ScreenShot0005-43.jpg

Took Teotihuacan

Civ4ScreenShot0006-32.jpg

Took Teayo

Civ4ScreenShot0007-26.jpg

Chem in, Steel next

Civ4ScreenShot0008-23.jpg

Took Atzcapotzalco

Civ4ScreenShot0009-17.jpg

Took Tlaxcala

Civ4ScreenShot0010-16.jpg

I stopped here. We have only a couple of cities with red faces, and our economy is slowly getting back on track.

I'm building a stack at Tlatelolco for Monte's capital

Civ4ScreenShot0011-13.jpg

I have another stack at Tlaxcala for the couple of cities near it

Civ4ScreenShot0012-10.jpg

And a final stack at Atzcapotzalco for the final city within our borders

Civ4ScreenShot0013-10.jpg

I expect Monte to fall within the next turnset. Then we have to decide whether we want to push Boudica right after while she's weaker than us, or to concentrate on the other islands instead.

We also have a GE at Thebes. He can be used to finish the Oxford there (12 turns left), or build the Pentagon somewhere with him, or settle him. I suggest the Pentagon, but hurrying the Oxford is fine as well. Up to the team to decide.

Nobody reads reports ... :p

Anyway.... it looks good. Will give a more detailed view when I finish my first Col game ;)

Heh. That's fine by me rolo. I tend to read the report, but then completely forgot it during my set :p

Our economy is slightly back on track since I've managed to sqeeze some banks and grocers in some cities as well as splitting up the 8 combined workers to groups of 2 to build improvements faster in more places.

Good war progress, berserks. Let's annihilate Monty and return back to peace :D . As for the GE I'm in favor of the Pentagon :) .

Got it and played the first couple of turns. Took another city, Malinalco. Expected to be able to switch to peace-mode. But then Boudica declared on us and promptly took Tlaxcala! There's only the one stack (about 20 units) but I expect to loose Malinalco next. I plan to abandon that city for now (it's quite useless anyway) to buy some time to shore up our defenses. I'll continue tomorrow and come up with a decent report.
