The Philipines are less corrupt than they were under Marcos. That is not to say they don't still have problems. But it's getting better.

It's hard to be any more corrupt than Marcos. yeah on paper it is better now but if you ask the man on the street he'll give you a dirty look. Or maybe we Filipinos are just naturally pessimistic about our government?

It's also a success in countries with not so much money. Ukraine, Poland, West Germany right after the war. Most of Eastern Europe is doing well with democracy, despite the fact that they don't have much money.

Eastern Europe is heaven in comparison with some of the places I mentioned. They may be just recovering from decades of communist misrule, but they're part of the EU, and have the great Western European economies as neighbors.

A war with who?

The usual suspects, of course. Taiwan, Japan, the US...

I guess we don't know what would happen, since no one is allowed to find out. But if the Communists are so sure to win, then why not go ahead and hold elections? If they are elected it will legitimize their government.

Because the commies are also widely known to be a paranoid bunch.

Anyway, boys, it's been fun, but I feel like we're kind of here, so I'm gonna make this my last post. I will give you the last word and read what you have to say, but I won't reply. I'm sure we will cross paths again.

Pros

1) Beautiful landscape
2) Fascinating history

3) I work for them
4) They scare America


Cons

1) Lack of personal hygiene
2) Lack of ambient hygiene, which affects their food quality and scares italian customers causing periodic drops of their food sales
3) For the first two reasons, China and SE Asia spam the world with new plagues
4) Their homeland censorship
5) They're obsessed with work. They have nothing else in their mind. No matter what happens in the meantine: it can be Christmas, there can be an earthquake, or aliens, whatever; their shop will be open.
