Do you use ad blocking sofware on this site?

I don't understand why I (and others) do not get those popups on the forum while others do!

I don't understand it either. Maybe one of those ads installed some kind of spyware?

It may be java... if it's not installed, and no java script, then you probably won't get any popups. Some people may have javascript disabled in their browser.

Every page load will generate a couple new ads. Whether or not they get displayed is up to your system and options. My AdBlocker keeps track of all ads, and I watch them die (not get displayed) in my AtGuard toolbar .

Most pop-ups use java scripting so if you customize your security options in IE (or whatever browser you are using) to disable active scripting, that will usually do the trick.

I have my default "internet zone" customized to block cookies, disable java and active scripting. If I want a web site to have access to those features, I add it to my "trusted zone". I also use a firewall with active content filtering.
