DocT2 - Ghandi goes Sid

Got it.

Palace to Madras.

0-750BC

Aztecs declare on the Japanese, no need of any encouragement from us.

Aztecs start Leonardo's and Persians start the Library and the Americans (?) finish it.

Americans, who invited them to this party anyway?

1-730BC
I can buy Literature from Xerxes for 13gpt and 100g or from Tokugawa for the same and then sell it to Monte for something. AS X-man doesn't need the money to fuel his research machine Toku gets the nod.

We can get Mysticism and 9g from Monte for Literature or Horseback Riding for Literature and 20g. Opt for HBR as horsemen are the precursor to War Elephants.

2-710BC
Curragh in the north sinks

Nohing new other than Kohlapur gets a tax guy.

3-690BC
Found Chittagong, another tundra fishing village on the NW arm.

4-670BC
Working the land and sailing curraghs.

5-650BC
Still sailing

6-630BC
Lose another curragh on the way to the Japanese island

Persians build Leo's Workshop.

7-610BC
Start a suicide run towards two unknown borders in the SE.

8-590BC
One curragh sinks but the second is booted across the strait by an irate Perisan and meets an American galley.

Build a settler out of Delhi to claim the last bit of tundra left.

9-570BC
We can now trade goods and resources to Persia and the Aztecs and Japan. Xerxes will offer Iron Working and 10g for Silks while Monte wants 110 cash plus silks for Iron Working. It's a better deal with Monte as we don't have to fear a fit of pique closing the trade route.

And it appears the only iron on the continent belongs to Persia.

10-550BC
Sailing the coast of America towards the other border to the north of St Louis.

Anything in the build queue should be changed as other than workers I have no idea what buildings are going to help us out here.

America is no help to us as there are no gaps to exploit that I can see and Lincoln is less than willing to help us out.

The deal for Iron Working with Monte was not the best choice I could have made, especially since it turns out we don't have any. But it is proabbaly better for Homeland Security to owe him something always, or at least until we have enough muscle to put a dent in his northern towns.

Take heart, the Aztecs have no iron.

In 20 turns we should have a nicely balanced force of horsemen and catapults to go beat some knowledge out of the Aztec heads. (Haven't seen any rifles in their garrisons yet).

And it appears the only iron on the continent belongs to Persia.
Excellent news, if that turns out to be true.
I don't really see us fighting a bigger war with Horses and Cats, not against Aztecs - no Iron for them means a hell lot of Jags...
While a war for the tundra city and maybe their Westernmost town may be worth it, it's quite risky; let's just see how the situation is in some time; we need Cats and Horseman anyway.

No Got it yet, can't get files to or from my machine atm

Oh well, this is the only SG I’m in that I consider quite a pain to play :(
Ok, we’re not dead yet, and if we somehow manage to survive until Jumbos, and the Aztecs have neither Iron nor Muskets and Rifles by that time, we have a shot.
But if someone sneazes, we’re out. (The German saying “Unser Überleben hängt an einem seidenen Faden”, roughly translated with “Our survival is saved by a silk fibre”, hits the nail).

Don’t think we want to fight the Aztec; no Iron means insane amounts of Jags…
No deals available, maybe when we contact the Zulus.
Agree on every build order.

1-530
IBT: Americans start Knights Templar :(
4-470 Americans are at war with a neighbour
5-450 found Punjab.
IBT: Persia demands 29gp; isn’t he happy with 3200gp in the Bank? Cave, of course.
6-430 Contact Zulus. They are of course up the all visible techs as well. Can now buy CoL from Japan for 190gp and 16gpt. Don’t want to help the Persian monster even more, and we ship Silks to Monty already. Switch Bombay and Jaipur to Courthouse, they will need it once the Palace moves to Madras.
7-410
IBT: Japan starts KT, Persia Sistine
10-350
IBT: Oh great, the Aztecs have Muskets – and they are hardly the Tech leader :ouch:
Another 14gp went down the drain, this time to Japan.
11-330
IBT: Our capital moves to Madras, and our income jumps from 15gpt to 16gpt
12-310 Persia has Printing Press…as much as I hate to help the tech leader, no way around shipping Silks and contacts with Zulu and America for Philosophy and MM. Considering he’s only 2 Ocean tiles away from the other continent, I don’t think that was that bad…
Turn on research, Mathematics in 12.
14-270
IBT: St.Louis completes KT
19-170
IBT: Persia starts Copernicus
20-150 Ship Monty Silks for Mysticism. He won’t even throw in Mathematics (due in 2).

Summary:
* All known Civs are mid-MA. Most Civs know PP, and have contact with Mongols and Egypt.
* On our continent, only Persia has Iron. However, at least Aztecs have Muskets. Don’t know about Persia, but Japan seems to have neither Iron nor Saltpeter.
* Aquired CoL, Map Making, Mysticism, Philosophy. Mathematics will be done in 2 (use The Big Picture to switch the Archer in Delhi to Cat). Full speed to Currency then, of course.
* Persia is running away peacefully, 3.5k gp and tech lead.
* Aztecs are still at war with Japan, and Zulu with America.
* We’re shipping Silks to Persia and Aztecs, and gpt to Japan (they have their own Silks). Should stay that way by all means.
* Important possible deal: Zulus lack Horses. Keep checking every turn; they seem to lack Astronomy so far.
* We could found 2 more tundra towns, one to grab the BG N of Delhi, the other one between Calcutta and the Aztec tundra city (which has no culture so far)

IMPORTANT: Please play 20 turns from now on until things get interesting, 10 turns with little or nothing to do won’t bring this game anywhere.

The save

I probably will not get this until thursday now. Scout 1c took longer than I thought, and the Minnesota Twins are playing the Yankees again tonight in the playoffs. I should get DocT3 done though.

Hey guys, gonna need a skip. I found out at 10:30 this morning that I have to travel 1000+ miles next week plus get all my HW done for school, so I am cracking the books now. Sorry for the delays I am causing.

To tell the truth, I'm not sure if we should stick to a rooster now. The interest (or better, the wish to play ;) ) in this game isn't that high.
I completely understand that, since I had to force myself to play my last set...
And, 2 of the players retired from Civ.

So, anyone still interested in this game, grab it and play 20 at a relaxed pace. Maybe we'll reach a point where it turns out to be fun again - or at least, go down with style ;).

Don't think we played bad (except for theGLib prebuild...), it's just one of those games with the AI acting, and the human not much more than a spectator.

I'm not giving up on this one yet, but I have a lot of RL stuff going on right now. By Thursday/Friday I should be able to play again, and will take my turns.

I should be able to get a few turns in this weekend.
