Does a heroic death make a hero?

You need a hero?

Miss me with this. Y'all have no shame. We are living in surreal times; Pinochet is the Bono of dictators.

I don't think it could miss you, because I don't think it was aimed at you.

Do you have a personal problem? It's an expression, it means "I think this is crass."

If you are going to do bad humor, you might as well go all the way.

It was a fascinating look at the mindset of the al-right.

Nahhh. I just don't care about your opinion on posts that are obviously intended as humor...crass humor or not.

Ahahahaha you had me so fooled dude

I was like, this guy is obviously a leftist of some kind, what did I do to press his buttons so bad that he gets upset every time I post

but here we are, you're one of those "Offense can only be taken not given" people

counterrevolutionary ;)

Considering that Tim has in the past expressed support for punching racists who say racist stuff in the face, I somehow don't think this is true.

I don't know, dude. I really disagree with the priorities being expressed here. As bad as things are in America right now, and as high as the rate of hate crimes has been since Trump has come to office, and as absurd and hateful and threatening as the fact that more or less open Nazis who have joked about concentration camps are being given political space and a means to express themselves to a large audience, and as much as I appreciate the sentiment that we should punch Nazis, I don't think we should be running around congratulating people for being willing to punch Nazis. It really shouldn't be a controversial opinion to have.

I also think it's crass and childish in a video gamey, "I think killing people is a joke," sort of way that people are really joking about Pinochet, who was a real dictator who had very real purges, and that only happened like thirty-forty years ago! There are people who lived through this who are still alive. But I guess their suffering is like, the punchline, and everything's in good humor.

The point is that Tim isn't one of the "offense is only taken, never given" types.

I always took Tim for an "offense is the best defense" type. Completely different thing.

More like "offense given but never taken". cold.

Sorry, did the Pinochet meme hurt you?
How long have you been on the web/this forum exactly? :p

Humour is a way to communicate a point, and sometimes it is the more apt one. No one here was making the point "lol, Pinochet is a real hero, y'all". An on-topic point was, though, that to some people literally anyone can be sold as a hero, regardless of what that person did.
