Does anyone Imprison?

Just curious, does anyone ever Imprison anyone, and if so, under what circumstances? (I'm NOT including event specific situations where you're forced to decide whether to imprison, and I'm also not talking about situations where they randomly suggest you imprison someone who's mad at you.)

I'm having trouble understanding the benefits. Any religious or family leader who is imprisoned remains the leader and just hates you...

I never considered it outside of events, no. Assassinate OK but imprison no.

Oh i had no clue you got money from it. It happens once or twice per game where i really need money and have sold off all my resources. Good to know.

sometimes imprisoning someone makes them pleased with you after a time, because you let them out. At least, I have had that happen.
