The death of Yu the Great was a great day of mourning through he nation. To honor him and our forefathers the creation of new ancestral shrines was ordered through the nation. His son, Qi, took over the leadership but died early and so his son Tai Kang took over as king of the Xia and begun to building of a temple to his grandfather and father.

The temple will be a house of knowledge, where people of wisdom will walk and talk, making better and improved ways to create tools and constructions to aid the nation.

Other than that Tai Kang send emissaries to his neighbors to begin trade and prosperity.

Greetings, fellow people of the Peor River. We desire nothing but peace between our nations. To that end, we ask now if we may claim the area around the river up to your current holdings, so that we will not have to argue over land. We also ask if our merchants may enter your land, to bring great wealth to both our nations.

To: Melia.
From: Johannia.

You are most welcome to open trade relations with ours, but stay of our lands.

OOC: Sorry for the wait, folks, but it would be nice if someone had said something to me for starting this thing up!

Orders sent.

Nation’s name: Vatia, Vatians
Capital City: Venate
Leader: Consul Marco
City/Province List: Venate, Fen, Thayer, Rene, Pars, Vito, Venez, Teras, Iaco, Opulen.
Societal Structure: At the top are the Patri, or Nobles. Every year, one Patri is elected randomly to be the Consul. The other Patri vote on topics that can be either denied or accepted by the Consul. The second name picked is the Steward. The Steward handles all administration of the city and chooses people for all positions within the city. However, the Steward cannot remove a person from a post if they have not served there for more than 5 years.

Second is the Merchants. They are the most respected among the people, and have nearly as much influence over politics as the Patri. However, they are very rarely chosen to fill government positions, because the Patri fear them.

The next class are the soldiers. Not much to say here, they just fight.

Last is the peasants.

Interesting Information: Every citystate within Vatia is almost like its own country. They answer to the Steward, but have their own military and often jockey for positions within the court of the Steward. Wars can and do happen between citystates, but they are often resolved quickly. No citystate can own another, but puppet rulers are common.
Territory Color: Dark Gold
Brief History: The Venate migrated from Italy due to an intense plague. They now have settled in their area due to an abundance of grain.
