Dominion NES

Hopefully, yes, update on sunday. I'm in the process of doing it. I lost some time due to headaches on Wednesday and painful wrist on thursday, then there were rugby matches to be seen, and my son's birthday party tomorrow, but I think I can get it done on sunday.

Now a small note about Dominion values:
Although there can be several dominions in 1 province, the sum of all dominions is limited. As dominions increase and the faiths become more clear cut and people less tolerant, the maximum total dominion in a province is slowly lowering (from something which you don't know to something you don't know either).
Someday, when you have 10 dominion in a province, everyone there will be believing in you and noone else. But it's not yet the case. A dominion of 10 currently means everyone worships your pretender, but they may also worship (or fear/respect...) other deities, and both dominions may have an effect on the province, sometimes a bad one.

Also note that preaching and temples can both decrease enemy dominion when your own dominion is maxed out in a province.

Bonne fete a ton fils!

A note on inquisitors? A note on blood sacrifice?

Inquisitors are just better at rooting out other faiths. Blood sacrifices, for those nations which can do them, use the same mechanism as preaching.

Players will be receiving detailed stats by e-mail.
Next orders expected for Tuesday 24.
Next update should be the 29.

UPDATE NINETEEN
Relatively quiet times

Ermor undead thaumaturgs tried to build some kind of temple in Ulm, but lack of funds prevented them from accomplishing anything useful.

Mictlan provinces once again suffered from blights, although in Mictlan home province the effects could be somewhat mitigated thanks to a clever use of granary reserves. However, in Jaguars Jungle, the situation was made worse by the fevers that sprung in the province, originating in the unhealthy fens. Cyprus citizens built fisheries increasing the province infrastructure.
In Man, the situation was even worse. Although most of the province is faithful to Mictlan, the dominion of Ermor is powerful there, and many people let themselves die. The country is terrible to behold: Food is scarce and people are gaunt and hungry. Many of the few remaining inhabitants talk of leaving the province for a better place to live in. Mictlan priests sacrifice many inhabitants on the temple in order to persuade Ermor followers to abandon their faith, lowering the deadly dominion.
Mictlan ships sailed into Bakemono straits and fired their catapults at the enemy walls, only to be answered the same from Shinuyama towers. The ships then moved north and disappeared from view of the Shinuyama coasts.

Jotunheim citizens built new mines in their homeland, extracting iron and coper ores for their weapons.
In Utgard, several vaetti chiefs have died mysteriously, causing some turmoil in the province.

In Arshnoc, plagues spread into Seul. The same disease crossed the channel and starts spreading in Shinuyama. However the kami of the sacred forests of Shinuyama are able to counter most of its effects. It is said that a Mori-no-kami went out of his woods to meet Shizen in order to help him fight the plague.
The inhabitants of Caelum took arms to form a militia to defend their country.
In Dark woods, soldiers patrol and root out dissenters.
In Man Ch'i, wizards found several gems of mana in the Celestial academy.

Pythium's great lighthouse has been enlarged. The tower is now almost twice as high as it used to be and is a really impressive view. In Amazonia, a tribe of amazons tamed winter wolves and Pythians added them to their army.
In the province of Pangaea, the government spent money to indoctrinate the youth. Many old women, who remember the time of the Pans and maenads, have warned their daughters and granddaughters not to be fooled by the divine serpent's bureaucrats. Pangaeans worshipped the god of Mictlan, Pythium and Arshnoc equally, but these schools made the inhabitants quite intolerant of other religions. This led to an anti-Mictlan pogrom in a big town of the south of the province, which caused several deaths and much resentment among the Mictlan followers, who urge the Mantis to help protect them from religious intolerance.

In Gath, a preacher told everyone about the grandeur of the Lanka goddess Hanman, increasing the number of the faithful. Lankans in the newly conquered province of T'ien Ch'i have started capturing slaves, presumably for sacrificing them, and the inhabitants are quite upset.

Meanwhile, the Abysia army in T'ien Ch'i, joined by several Lankan warriors and mages, walked into Caelum. Their moves were unhindered at first, but as they started scaling the mountain roads, they were ambushed by archers shooting from hidden caves.
Lankan elephants helped tear down T'ien Ch'i defenses, and Arshnoc troops were too numerous to remain hidden in their fortress, so they tried to repel the opponents. Lankan elephants and apes remained in reserve, letting the abysians fight alone. The Lankan general explained that the troops were so numerous that the Abysian fire auras would deal damage to his troops, but Lankan wizards cast some thunderbolts to support the Abysian troops.
As a group of winged caelians attacked the abysian soldiers, one of them was killed by the abysians and exploded in a huge conflagration, which unfortunately didn't harm any of the abysian lavamen.
Spoiler :

Arshnoc tigers attack Abysian heavy infantry under a rain of fire and lightning.
caelum2.png

Tigers are burnt by Abysian wizard priests

Arshnoc wizards saw they couldn't defeat the Abysians, and retreated in their forts, but the Lankans and Abysians started pounding their walls with catapults. Soon, the forts will be breached and elephants are ready to run through. However, food is scarce in Caelum, and the besiegers are suffering from starvation despite Lankan's nature magics. Inside the forts, Arshnoc wizards produce enough food for their few remaining tigers and soldiers.

@Immac:umm. well. Sorry about Pangaea

oh, I was hoping for some kind of picture of Conflagration going off... did it take any out?'
heh, I'm not being religiously discriminated against.

"To the Serpant-People of Pythium,

"Your progrom against our followers, regardless of where they may live is ill-conceived and short-sighted. If you have a problem with our followers amongst your own people, you must none-the-less treat them with dignity and respect. Our two nations have long been friendly. Your violent actions against our people can not be tolerated.

"But,as we have said, we have long been friends and it is not worth war between our people to resolve this. We suggest that you allow these Pangean followers of the Mantis to immigrate to our lands. In this way you will be rid of them and will have not harmed our followers. Any other choice you make, we fear, could jeapordize our good friendship."

Another quiet update. Stupid blight. Stupid Ermor. Can't we all just get along?

@LDiCesare: You were supposed to take the needed money & mana directly. I didn't know that I had to tell you how much money & mana you could pick.

@Immaculate: believe me when I tell you that the blight in your lands is not being caused by me. At least, directly. And if you don't want people to follow my Pretender, why don't you just kick them into my lands?

Milarqui/Ermor;

Our people see their brothers and sisters wanting to DIE... to just let themselves waste away and they fear for them. They wonder at what sick notions, teachings are being tought by your little cult and they worry. Don't YOU worry though, we are sending our best deprogrammers to kidnap the misguided followers of your faith, throw them in an unmarked white van, drive them back to some insitutute in the desert and through drugs hypnosis and electro-shock therapy, help them find their way back to their true god.

YES! Help them see the true Light of Herra Þorndá Hið Móðr!

@LDiCesare: You were supposed to take the needed money & mana directly. I didn't know that I had to tell you how much money & mana you could pick.

Well, I said:
Without gold or mana spending, you won't be able to build anything significant. XXX is also impossible as XXX.
You didn't answer anything about how much you wanted to spend. You answered with a conditional statement, which I answered as 'no', so the alternate order was dismissed.
If you want to build generic things, I can take the money automatically, but even then you need to have that money. I can alchemise, but only if you tell me to. When you want to do something special, either I tell you a price depending on the effect you want, or you say a sum you want to spend, but I'm not going to take gold or mana from a player without his saying. The only exception is battles, where I will spend some mana, but it's rarely more than 2 or 3 mana (or more in case of blood slaves).

The Pythium government apologizes for the program against the Mantis Queen, but we also declare that Pythoum government was not directly involved in the program; they were launched by civillians. We shall make sure that there wouldn't be any such programs against the Mictlan, and if it happens, throughly investigated.

"Shinuyama:

"Will you have peace at our current borders? We ask for no financial payments nor for any limitations to your navies (though navies in our territorial waters, like those of all nations will be sunk).

"There has been enough blood. Enough hostilities.

"This is your final chance at peace. If you fail to heed this warning we will utterly and thoroughly destroy you now and forever.

"Mictlan."

I thought I had... Well, I'll do it in the next turn.

Oh, and Followers of other gods are free to go... as long as they can find boats or transportation. That others will have to provide. So are Ermorian Cultists in Sauromatia, Nero. They I am willing to provide money to make them leave...

However, Pangaea is already depopulated, and I am unwilling to lose any more significant parts of my population. Your Priests are allowed to choose 1000 people out of Pangaea. Do not ask me for more unless the problem continues.

From: Ermor
To: Mictlan
1: What's a "van"?
2: What's a "deprogrammer"?
3: The followers of our faith aren't misguided.
4: "Insitutute"?
5: Your efforts will be in vain, for the Emperor is the true god.

EDIT: OOC: Yay! I'm only 4,626 posts away from getting a double Number of the Beast!

You know, since technically Ermorian Dominion creates deserts....

OOC: Uhh...yeah. Sorry Immac. Indoctrination program I started last turn has unforseen effects of automatically launching programs lowering all non-Pythium dominion and lowering population while increasing stability, which I am not sure if I can stop, because it is kinda stuck in people's mind now if you will. (I can kinda reduce the damage done to your followers by use of troops to bring order though!)

At least you can do the same to everyone else! XD

1: What's a "van"?
Obviously the honored Mantis is refering to an unmarked, whit Vanheim warrior, I'd be iterested to see how you fit people in a Van though
2: What's a "deprogrammer"?
He must have meant depogromer, or one who stops Pogroms.
4: "Insitutute"?
Where those R'lyeh cultists come from
5: Your efforts will be in vain, for the Emperor is the true god.
Stheran isn't emperor anymore, he's now the Eldest Brother.
