Well yeah but for some reason they still seem to care about the merge

We should probably start drafting an actual merger proposal to bring to the admin's attention.

I feel the main reason now for opposing the exodus is quite clearly outlined by Luckymoose

I don't feel that the Frontier is a community in which we will ever be respected.

Frankly and without any intention to troll anyone, CFC is a better place now that his ilk are gone.

We the undersigned,

Observing that the recent departure of a sizable portion of CivFanatics users previously and nigh-exclusively inhabiting the Never-Ending Stories forum has drastically reduced said forum's population,

Observing also that the depopulation of the forum puts into question the viability of future Never-Ending Stories due to a reduced player base,

Declaring that no substantive difference exists between Imperium Offtopicum (IOT) and Never-Ending Stories (NES) beyond personal prejudices held by particular individuals within both respective player bases,

Emphasizing that as a result of the exodus, members of the NES community that have previously argued against a merger with the IOT community are no longer participant members of CivFanatics,

Affirming the positive disposition of the remaining NES user base to a forum merge,

Affirming also the positive disposition of the IOT user base to a forum merge,

Resolved that in order to foster a greater sense of forum community generally, to promote and strengthen the culture of geopolitical roleplay and world-building specifically, to reduce redundancy within the organization and management of the CivFanatics message board, formally petition that CivFanatics staff for a merger between the Never-Ending Stories and Imperium Offtopicum forums in accordance with the following provisions:

1. The Never-Ending Stories forum and Imperium Offtopicum forum, and all threads therein, shall be merged into a single subforum within Other Games;

2. The title of the new forum shall be "Armchair Emperors";

3. The description of the new forum shall read "Forum for geo-political roleplay and world-building1; previously known as 'Imperium Offtopicum' and 'Never-Ending Stories'.";

4. The new forum shall be moderated by Birdjaguar and BSmith1068;

5. Following the merger, or prior to the merger by the moderators' discretion, BSmith1068 and/or Birdjaguar shall consult with the player base to reorganize and redraft presently Stickied Threads as deemed necessary to eliminate redundancies inherited from the merger, following which obsolete threads shall be unstickied, not deleted.

Signed,

As a security council member I veto this resolution

1. The Never-Ending Stories forum and Imperium Offtopicum forum, and all threads therein, shall be merged into a single subforum within Forum Games;

Surely you mean OTHER GAMES, no one wants to go back to Forum Games.

Ugh, nightmare flashbacks of model UN. Nothing convinced me more of the pointlessness and uselessness of the United Nations than Model UN.

And this is why I do Model Congress and JSA instead of MUN. Not much of an improvement, but still an improvement.

Doohdtf.

Ah, MUN. It's not so bad. I had a good time, plus I was happy that I managed to pass an amendment which made one of the resolutions passed actually somewhat operative. Otherwise, everyone went just for the most general and nebulous idea so to get the largest number of votes behind it.

Seconded.

World Building could open many doors.

I remember coming across a IOT which players made a galaxies by planets. Anyone else remember that?

Putting aside all the hate and disrespect being shown to my NESer friends of many years,

I think a 'World-Building Games' forum is a good idea.

Let's not get ahead of ourselves on the merge, most of NES don't seem to be really seriously considering this, a lot of those who do have reservations. To work it needs to be wanted by both forums, there is no point trying to force it on NES.

Moderator Action: In an attempt to have one central discussion on the topic of a merger between IOT and NES, I have created a new thread in Site Feedback. Please continue the discussion in this new thread.
