Doto [AdvCiv ModMod]

Wud anyone bother explainin me steps of installation for this mod? i just extract it in BTS/mods/ but no way tis gonna work, keep havin game crash while tryn to load it.

Hum. Sounds like you're doing the right thing. BTS v3.19 ? Download file is around 70mb. Extract OL anywhere but put the folder in ...\Beyond the Sword\Mods. Load BTS, select advanced and select OL2.3.7 (or whatever you called it...)

Yes ?

pilotis hi,

humm, ok maybe i did something wrong with the gyptians or one of the discover buildings,

the file civilizationinfo.xml - controls the unique buildings for each civ - look for egypt.
the file buildinginfo.xml - have all the buildings, including the disciver ones, each discover religion, have a free tech tag - that defines the religion tech given.
perhaps something is mixed up.
ill check it for next version, but if you wanna change it before, htere you have it.

VegeForsaken, all you need to do, as pilotis wrote, is to dl the overlord2.3.7-ready file,
put it in your beyond the swrod\mods folder and hit the file, it will open the mod, and thn you can load it from load mod within civ4, or set it in the civ4config file.

edit: ok - i loaded your save, passed 100 turns - had no crash. do you have vista or 7?
edit2: wait - you wrote a crash on 500 ad?? that means i cant check your save - i need one thats close to the crash, around say 400 ad, how else will i know whats causing your ctd?
edit3: ok - i got up to 600+ ad, no crash.

GoUtes53, thanks for the save, ill check it, although, i tested the game , and had no ctds, i wonder what settings did you play and what system do you have.

krushyn, random ctd, used large maps with plenty of civs or anything?

p.s people :

I DO NOT RECOMMEND TO PLAY WITH SCRIPTED MAPS LIKE RANDOMMAP OR PERFECT WORLD - SINCE NOT IN ALL OF THEM I OPTIMIZED THE BONUSES,
USE AT YOUR OWN DISCRETION,
if you see that you have most resources on the map, i guess its fine.

enjoy.

Hi K.

Found it. (Why do you always pick on Hatsheput ?)

CivBuildingInfos. Building_Discover_Religion12 'FreeSpecifcTech>Hellenism<.....' Change to '>Tech_Amon_Ra<'.

Dunnit in mine. I'll let you change it in the next release. Savegame compatible only if you haven't already discovered Ceremonial Burial.

-I've been so surprised at the difference in game experience between vanilla Civ IV and this mod that I figured I'd relate my most recent game.

-First, I turned off the "revolution" process. Yes, it imbalances the civics, but I found game-play unmanageable for my style. Anyway, I tried a game on a standard size map, using a regular generator, with only 30% water. I played the Americans.

-I ended up on a predictably huge land mass, with only two other civilizations; the Germans and the English. For whatever reason, those two never bothered me and I was able to expand safely. Along the south pole, oddly enough, was the most successful civilization, the Celts, and they stretched almost the entire width of the map. I've never seen a land mass across an entire pole in Civ, but I was further surprised to see that the civilization down there was successful. The other 5 civilizations were crammed on a more serpentine continent.

-As the game progressed, most of the other civilizations from other continents decided to attack me one by one, sending a ship or two for an amphibious assault. On every occasion, I'd rebuff them and they'd accept a cease fire almost immediately. I've never been able to get an attacker to stop attacking me so easily. They'd come back after a while with another single attack, I'd rebuff them, and sign another cease fire. More to the point, I've never had such perfect peace along my land borders. Might it result from the heavily spaced cities of the enemy? I keep my cities closer to the traditional grid spacing, but made sure not to shove cities right into their borders.

-In every game I've played since I dropped the "revolution" option I've outpaced everyone in science. Did I unbalance the economy?

Pilotis,
thanks man,
your a guy to count on :)
ill fix it for next release.

Nosferum,
hi and welcome, thanks for this feedback, i like to hear how everyone have their game exp'.
i dont play with revolution either, so im not sure of its effects on gameplay.

what sort of map did you play - i play on archipelago - sneaky continents - the ai is spread nicely.

the spacing between cities is wide since in a higher level of culture the city grows to a size 3 plot.

acctually - in 2.3.7 compared to 2.3.6 - the ai was greatly changed - the game was much more difficult since the ai was very upset most of the time, and war declaration was raised.
expect more wars from your ai in all levels of game, since even a friendly ai can suddenly decide to strike.

i had 1-3 games in 2.3.7, and my difficulty level of play was prince-war = i always ended up to be a stupid civ, with at the top 5 lowest civs, the ai was overrunning me in science.
so i switched to prince, it was better, but i was still not on the top 5 civs.

if you want a challanging game - go on to prince or prince war, i promis the ai kicks ass there.

what level did you play anyway?

p.s.s,
i recommend not to play with mostly these scripts - archipelago, continents, random continents, Pangaea and such, not the random script, perfect world, full of res' and those weird maps.

GoUtes53, thanks for the save, ill check it, although, i tested the game , and had no ctds, i wonder what settings did you play and what system do you have.

I use Random Script Map (and no, that isn't the problem since I have been using it since day 1 with this mod. RSM is all I use.), Epic speed, Prince level. All victory settings are enabled except time. All options are unchecked except No Espionage, No Revolutions, Dynamic Civ names Mod, Multiple Production & Advanced diplomacy. I have an Intel core 2 duo CPU at 3.18 ghz, 4 gig of DDR-3 RAM, Asus Radeon HD 4970 video card with 1 gig on board. 640 gig HDD with 32 GB cache. Windows 7 Home 32 bit OS.

Need anything else?

You know me Keldath.... biggest .... longest...... and I do use script maps...so I am perfect trial test rabbit ;-)
I got one..... possibly memory oriented cos I do down a lot watching streaming on second monitor always playing in the window on 1080p........ I wouldn't worry about my random "only one so far" CTD in early ages....
It is fine, it rocks and kills my social life..... so it is perfect.

GoUtes53,

i dunno what to say my freind, as i said, i was able to run 100 turns with that save, maybe its cause of win7, have no idea,

maybe krushyn - can you perhaps just check if GoUtes53 save game ctds at your end as well?

krushyn, sweet bro, i play window too by the way.
so its probably a memory thing , i hope.

god i cant wait for civ5 sand start modding :)

Civ5 ... I am worrying a bit ... but I love hex..... can't wait ...actually I am thinking about buying preorder...... always getting original but.. well... later.... when prices cool off or eventually 2nd hand.... I have my doubts but I hope modding will change the game for better.....and finally spherical world...mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

K.

Attack support doesn't seem to work for me. (I think it never worked for me with OL... Can't quite recall.) See Savegame. Go attack the redcoats on my Western flank. Bombard works fine, but neither archers nor canon provide support or opp fire... Or am I having a 'doh' moment ?

krushyn, modding always changes the game to be better,

the civ5 are lazy in content - in civ4 they left all the work to modders :)

be assured that there will be overlord for civ5,

Pilotis,

hey, i dont really have to check the save, since, i dont trust any of the dale mod parts except ranged bombardment - which is a bit screwed also, air missions, fighter engage.
i hope some of these parts will be better in the next revdcm.

play only with those i recommended, i thing i left all the stuff i play with on as an optimal.

have fun.

crashed (no maf).

2 turns from the save. Maybe i would meet a buggy civ? DOn't know.

Hi, I've adapted the Duuks Tiny Europe 7 civs map from private maps folder. I tried to make it balanced and auto-played it several times. Rome is a bit weak (never had top score in those autoplay games) but it's because AI is stupid with revolutions. There is so much space so that even nations that got their independence got revolutions :)

Hope you like it, I sure had a lot of fun playing this map :)

HEY PEOPLE!

trotty, hi sorry hadnt had time to check it - i will though.

Canabrava,
its built via great general - it didnt work?

uskokovic, hi! welcome to civ fabnatics!

thank you so much for this!! its much appreciated! i will add this to the next version!

Hey, Kedeth, I'll give this new version a whirl. Sorry I'm not here that often. I drift in and out of Civ 4 playing moods.

Or, I'm loopy in the head, one or the other. :)
You sure love making me update my version all the time don't you? :)
Sillyness aside, I love this mod a lot.

Don't worry, if anything seems bizarre, I'll be sure to nag you over it.

K.

Couldn't build HMS Dreadnought even though I had all the right qualifiers. Went into unitinfos and 'tidied up' XML code with a few tabs - honestly! - saved and reloaded. Now it's fine. Has no-one else reported this. maybe it was a quirk of my download (I don't really believe that...) Anyway. herewith.

P.
