Dragonia Mod

I had it too, cant remember the exact text but its a filepath points to the dragonia art folder and then Wonder Splash and mercs.pcx or something like that. Basically its looking for the splash pic and its not there. I copied one across from Warhammer mod or another fantasy mod and renamed it. It worked fine after that. To be honest it wasnt the only error, I had to copy over the Swordsman files, but thats a known error with Complete I think. Overall I like it, some cool ideas and I'm fiddling things around so it plays more to my taste.

Exactly, I encountered the swordsman bug too but fixed it as well...I'll copy another Merc pic and that should fix the guild thing.

Glad it was such an easy fix, really excellent work, I've been playing this for two days straight.

Playing is great Darque! I really Enjoy it :D

I'm the Ungdu (Quinzu :D of the Ungdu!)

I've noticed a few small bugs though:

*I can build Northern Swordsmen as well as Nomad Swordsmen
*I can build Northern Spearmen as well as Nomad Spearmen
*I can't upgrade the Human Warrior
*The Nomad Javelineer enslaves regular scouts not Nomad Scouts
*In the production que there's no picture for the Granary until I actually select it
*Some of the pedia pics have palette issues

And some stuff that I think could be changed (minor stuff)
*The Eastern Archer (Based off a Hwarang but doesn't really look generically Eastern)
*The Eastern Spearman (Looks very primitive)
*Shrine produce 1 military influence? MI is very awkward to get, the Town Hall costs a huge ammount but your cities can't grow big enough to shorten the time needed to build it, so i'm stuck with 30+ turns.
*Jungle passable by all nomad units, not just scouts? (Seems only right, them being nomads and all)

And that, my good friend, is all I can remember at the moment. :)

But all in all, the gameplay is marvelous! I'm really enjoying it! :D Thanks for a brilliant mod!

I recently stumbled across this mod and I love the civilizations and new units however I am having some problems. It crashes. A few comments above say that they can fix it and I would like to know how. This is an excellent mod and I would hate to see it die.

I have never done this before so I need some step by step explanation for how to repair this.

Those type of error-messages just mean that the game can't find a file(name) it needs, in the place where it expects to find it (i.e. the location identified in the error message). In this case, you are missing 'sound-effects' (.wav) files.

Can I safely assume that you do know how to do basic stuff in Windows, such as navigating your way around the Windows directory-tree structure (or doing file-searches) using WindowsExplorer, copy/pasting, moving, and renaming files, etc.? If so, the simplest way to solve this kind of problem would therefore be to copy and paste (and when necessary rename) an appropriate .wav file from the 'epic-game' unit-art folders into the appropriate place in the Mod's directory. You should be able to find all the files for the standard epic-game units, including the relevant .wav files, in one of the following locations:
  • .../Civilization3/Art/Units/ -- for units which were included in Vanilla Civ3
  • .../Civilization3/civ3PTW/Art/Units/ -- for units which were added in PtW
  • .../Civilization3/conquests/Art/Units/ -- for units which were added in Conquests
There are additional unit .wav files in other locations as well, e.g. (IIRC) the .../Civilization3/PtW/Extras/ folder has various folders/units for Feudal Japan, WWII and Dinosaur scenarios. Feel free to have a look at those too. Also, note that, from the point of view of getting the game to work without crashing, it doesn't matter if you don't copy-paste the exact .wav file which the modmaker originally intended to use: copy-pasting/renaming any .wav file, and giving it an appropriate name (matching the 'missing filename' error) should be sufficient for now.

For the specific cases you've identified, fixing the missing 'SwordsmanFortify.wav' is easy -- the epic game already has a Swordsman unit, and you'll find its files in the .../Civilization3/Art/Units/Swordsman/ folder. Just copy the 'SwordsmanFortify.wav' file from the original (epic-game) location and paste it to the Mod's .../Art/Units/ElfInfantry/.../Swordsman/ folder. If that folder doesn't (yet) exist in the Mod-folder either (as implied by Nergal, above), then copy-paste the whole 'Swordsman' folder across from the epic-game.

For the other problem, since there was no 'Temple Dog' unit in the epic game, you will have to improvise a little, copy-pasting and then renaming an existing file to make a "TempleDog_AttackA.wav" in the Mod's .../Art/Units/War Dog/.../Temple Dog/ folder.
Spoiler :
e.g. the Spanish Conquistadore includes a dog, so one or both of its attack-sounds (the 'Conquistadore_AttackA.wav' and '..._AttackB.wav' files) might include a barking/growling noise, and thus might provide a suitable sound-effect for a Temple Dog (I wouldn't know for sure, never yet having met a Conquistadore in-game). You should be able to find both those files in the .../Civilization3/civ3PTW/Art/Units/Conquistadore/ folder.
If you're not sure which .wav file would be best to copy across, you should be able to use just about any basic audio software (e.g. Windows Media Player -- or whatever Win10 uses instead) to listen to any .wav file that might fit your bill, before you do anything else with it.

And where you can download this mod? Links in the first report are not working.
A lot of stuff uploaded to CFC got lost during the server migration during the summer -- guess this mod might have been another one of the victims. Try here: http://www.moddb.com/mods/dragonia
Looks like it's still a work in progress. So it might be best to report bugs such as missing-file errors to the modmaker via that site, rather than CFC.

Well that's the problem. It hasn't been updated since 2007. So it looks like This is the only way to play it.

Well I finally got around to placing the missing wav file for the elf swordsmen but alas it still crashed.

I think I am just going to have to play games without the elves which is a shame because they make the perfect rival for a dwarf and I wiped out those pointy eared bastards on my last game before they crashed it.

Anybody has any idea what the new goverments do?
Are the higher techs developed at all?
The link to the supposed civilopedia doesnt work anymore
