Dwarven Mines

They're getting -1 food from farms, making their already bad food problems even worse. It's mentioned in the FFplus thread. Valkrionn hasn't responded to posts about it yet.

The food nerf was due to the fact that these new improvements should NOT be a flat bonus. The way they're designed, the Khazad will have less population but have the hammers/wealth of a much more populous city. As it is, the Dwarven Fortress will provide: 2 :food:, 3 :hammers:, 4 :commerce:, 50% defense, as well as +1:hammers: from Blasting Powder/Arete, +1 :commerce: from taxation, and +1 :food: from sanitation. It's a very powerful improvement.
 
Yes, that sort of improvement is what the Khazad are all about.

And another Q, in FF+, can any FOL civ build on forests like the elves in FF?
If so, can FOL khazad hit a hill+forest with the new toy for maximum effect?

No they cannot. And they will never be able to. I'm thinking of allowing one improvement, like the forester's lodge in Orbis, but I'm not going to allow any improvement. That's the province of the Elves, and will remain that way.
 
Quick question: How do you actually build Dwarven Settlements? Because I've just started a game as the Khazad and their workers are incapable of building them (unless they require a specific technology)?
 
I am playing FFPlus, and the strange thing is that I can build them now, but before there were only one mine icon when I selected my workers, before I had to use the Worldbuilder to change normal Mines to Dwarven ones. Do they have any requirements?
 
Icon is the same as a mine, planning on making a new one.

That third one is way too frozen looking for the dwarven fortress, but it is awesome looking and needs to be used somewhere. That's an incredible job of capturing the huge scale of a door on a very tiny button.
 
Yeah. If only there were cold civs in the game bro, if only.
 
My capital is amazing right now. :eek: Managed to get a bunch of grassland hills, which I'll have to scorch, but I also got a single tile of floodplains... Without any of the upgrade techs, my Dwarven Fortress on the tile is 5:food::hammers::commerce:. :goodjob:

My dwarven mines and better tend to attract barbarian units. They attack the units fortified there instead of my cities now :)

A Frost Giant minor leader for the Jotnar might have a special building of some sort...
