DWG01-Behind Enemy Lines, OCC, AW

Which version of my logger are you using. I would like to update it so that it doesn't say "Team 7" but rather reports the name of the civ.
v2.0.4

If you are going to reload due to poor battle outcomes, you should edit the log so that people cannot see :D. It looks like Belisarius is related to a cat ... and we just used at least 2 of his 9 lives.
Yeah it's a shame  :hammer2: :suicide:

Did you lose our Medic 3?.....whenever I get a Medic 3, I never attack with him...ever. When hes gone, it takes sooo long to heal in neutral territory. Next GG we definate3ly need a Medic 3....make it an Explorer so noone attacks with him. ....I just looked at the save and Belisarius is still alive....is he suposed to be dead?

While attacking in Greek territory at Sparta, Belisarius (Maceman) loses to: Greek Archer (0.75/3) (Prob Victory: 95.0%)

If hes supposed to be dead, next person can delete him.

If hes supposed to be dead, next person can delete him.
Well, that seems a little harsh. If he is still alive when I get to this game Monday morning, he is going to hear that the enemy has just killed his entire family and go rambo on everyone (ie attack each round, no matter what!).

I have it. Will play today or tomorrow.

Our super medic is dead. Long live our super medic.

marines0055.jpg

My 10 rounds were like shooting fish in a barrel. Who needs cats, just charge in and kill the units. I don't think that I will see this game again. Out of 62 battles, I only lost 4. Lots of razing (7 cities, 2 barbs). I razed down the cities down the island but we now have some barb activity. I'll give you one guess what these units are doing ...

marines0057.jpg

I even took out two island based cities - cavalry with 11 XPs get promoted to Combat II and amphibious so they can charge right off the boat! I have two galleons with 5 cavalry (wait for the next round and put the new cavalry on board too) and then they can go have some fun in China ... free our marines.

marines0061tt2.jpg

Our city is crazy hammers. Who needs 390 hammers when a cavalry only needs 180 to build ... what a waste.

marines0053.jpg

Now, what were those workers doing? Fog busting! The only issue was that I hadn't filled in the land that I had opened up ... bl99dy barbs!

marines0060.jpg

Now, you will notice that our new super medic cannot attack! He also has one promotion outstanding. I couldn't decide between woodsmans II, Guerilla II or +1 movement so I left it to the group to decide. My vote goes to +1 movement. Woodsmans II means double movement in forest or jungle (so 4 for the explorer if he stays in the forest / jungle), Guerilla II means double movement over hills so 4 for the explorer if he stays on the hills). +1 movement means 3 movement all the time.

We have some units that are close by that should be able to fix that ...

The Barrel

And I just noticed that I should have been running scientists instead of priests so that we can get to better ships quicker .

Weve got some crazy hammers and thats without lumbermills and railroads. I never expected this game to be this easy. Is there any reason to continue this SG? I really like OCC so Im open to suggestions as to what would have made this harder. The Marines were set 2 tiles from the AI capitals, maybe if I had gone 3 tiles and upped the difficulty. If you guys are still interested in playing it out, Ill do so.

Let's finish it ... I wlll suggest the next game we up the difficulty to at least Immortal, remove the starting priest which gives an unfair hammer boost and change them if necessary to the more useless merchant or artists, change to an archipelago map with our marines on a different island as the AI's initial starting island so that the AI dare to send their workers out.

I am for finishing this also.

If we are to try this again I agree with Greyfox archipelago map or continents map where each civ gets its own continent. Up the difficultly level. Do we really need Great People at the beginning?

Sansman, its your turn. Thye reason we needed the Prophets was because the marines were costing us 8 or 9 GPT. We would never get anything in the beginning researched without some cash.

You might want to place resources if your not doing a balanced map...

i don't know how to do the fancy green lurker thing.

great artist will give you 3g, 12culture
merchant will give you 1 food, 6g

as an alternative, once you've placed your city you can go back into WB and use the "edit city" key to just give yourself X amount of gold. but a set amount per turn is probably better, since that's what the marines will be costing you. i'd go with a merchant since the border pops are so important in OCC to get resources, 12 cpt is just huge. merchants are of course important in OCC too since extra food is the best thing since, well, sliced bread. if you're worried you'd abuse that, you could re-WB and turn a grassland into a plain, hmmz better a fish into a clam, something like that, after you've settled. then of course that messes with your health resources if you already had a clam and no other fish ... eh, just don't eat too much junk food ;)

i definitely think that part of why it was too easy was that the marines terrified the AI from turn 0. i'd put them farther away next time, and i imagine one per civ would be enough. going archipelago, well, i've never tried OCC on archi so i'd definitely be lurking on that one. i imagine it would make it much harder, especially with how culture is weird over water.

and now back to silently lurking...

Thanks for the ramble ;) Seems like merchant is the way to go ... I think it is possible to edit the yield of a tile (like giving a floodplains 2 food instead of 3), so that might be the best way to counter the merchant. I think Imhotep did that in the Menu Surprise SG in Deviant Minds.

Re: OCC-AW in archipelago, see MM15, MM16, MM17 in this forum.

cool i never saw those! thanks!

lurking here as well

@KMadCandy - I've seen a number of your posts and have to say you make me laugh. (thank you)

@team - I have never seen a capitol with 390 hammers. WOW..... although I never play OCC but thinking of giving it a try.

As Ruff_hi said, we outclass everyone else :goodjob: and as such in my turn set I managed to raze 7 cities. I did not save anymore Marines but I have placed troops just outside of Madrid, St. Petersburg and another city (sorry, do not have access to the game at the moment and forgot to take pictures of the troops) without siege support. Once St. Petersburg falls the Marines will be rescued, I already razed Moscow. I build a bank to lessen the gold loss, I know, why???, it bothered me. Steel is due next turn so the next player can build Cannons to help take down the rest of the cities. Oh, one other thing that happened is Peter choose to vassal to Qin Shi Quang.

The pictures I took:
