EB Store Update

I just called a gamestop and asked if there was any chance of them getting the game in before closing tonight. He told me to call back after 2pm.

Not sure what I will have to do to get it though

LOL... he probably gets off at 2 so he won't have to deal with any more fanatics phone calls... 2 of the local Ebgames and a Gamestop said it's not coming today...

But why are you blaming us? it's not just EB that's delayed, it's EVERYONE. Call Best Buy, Staples, Circuit City, GameStop, Game Crazy, ANYONE, you won't find it today.

I think one of the main issues can be blamed on EB Games/Gamestop, and that's the fact they're now listing the release date as the day it ships. I don't know when they started doing it, but it was recently. It used to be release date meant the day you could walk in and get it, now when they post up the release date it means the day (or 2 days) before you can get it, but that's when they'll start shipping it to the stores. They've done that with several big name titles including NCAA football 2006, Madden 06, B&W 2, even the Sims 2 expansions. I don't know why they feel it is THAT much better to tell everyone the wrong date.

I'm quite certain that when I checked the web site yesterday, it said "Shipping 10/24". Today, it says "Shipping 10/25".

I'm relatively certain this was the case for WoW when I bought it last year as well. It's not new.

Which EB said late today. The UTC EB said 3-5PM tomorrow? If it ships today how does arive today?

I'd suggest you all chill out, play one last game of Civ3, have a glass of wine (if you're old enough) and get Civ4 when it is available i.e. when you get your shipment or when your store gives you a call. The time spent on the forums posting would be better spent playing Civ3, saying good-bye to the family, have a shower and a good meal, because you won't have time for all that in the coming days. It is not that Firaxis gives you a prize for being the first buyer.

It's the same dance with every release of an anticipated game... *sits back and gets a cracker*
