EB Store Update

Can you show me where I said what the street date is? I was simply refuting your claim that there is no incentive for retailers not to sell games early. I provided a clear example of a reason why a store would NOT sell a game early.

Therefore, your post sits down.

Like I said, the release date is a given. We're not talking about games before their release date.

just talked to EB games - they admitted to being a little swamped by Civ 4, and gave me my tracking number(checked UPS and it is a valid number), EB said they are behind in sending emails to update your status.

Since ya'll are chattin' about EB and game arrival and such, I'll just add that local EBs here in eastern Canada are stating as late as Friday for arrival, even with pre-orders, due to shipping issues related to 'all the hurricanes'. I personally think it's...well, not quite honest, but I won't be surprised if I don't get my call until later this week (a Thursday or Friday wouldn't be that bad, afterall).

I'm located in Winnipeg, Canada (pretty much central) and the guy that I talked to (twice) as well as another guy said tomorrow. The conversation exactly as it went:

Me: Hi, do you know when you'll be getting Civilization four in? (aprox. time to say this: 3 seconds)

EB guy: Not sure, probably tomorrow, bye. *click* (aprox. time to say: 1 tenth of a second, maybe not that fast but I was still processing what he said after he hung up.)

I went back to EB Games, in Sherwood Oregon, at 5:10 PM and they told me that it wouldn't be ready until tomorrow. They also mentioned that it was, after all, only the shipping day. I have a strong suspicion that there was a large stack of Civ IV games in the back room, but they had orders to not sell to any customers, even if they were pre-orders. It seems that tomorrow will finally be the day. If they give me any excuses I'll have to use some of the tactics that have been discussed on this forum. Good luck to everyone out there in the next day or two. I look forward to seeing new Civ IV screenshots.

I also pre-ordered the Collector's Edition via the EBGames website for in-store pick-up,

I checked my account status and it states:

"OPEN"

what does that mean, exactly?

I just checked and my Pirates LE order which I ordered for in-store pick-up last November and have been playing for months and months is also still listed as Open. So I assume that in-store pick-up orders never end up with Shipping or Closed status.

Anyway, based on the fact that my Pirates LE order is still listed as Open, I'm guessing having Civ4 listed as open is not a concern and doesn't mean that a copy won't be arriving at the store for me.

Guys, quick question. There's no local store nearby, so I have to order it online. If I order now, is there anywhere that will actually ship it soon? Will EBGames get it to me in a day like the promise? Because Amazon says it won't get here until monday.

On the EB Games website it says they still have the Pre-Order edition available and it will ship within 24 hours. Get it now while you can!!!

I was checking all day today from EB and it just said "Open", which it has since I pre-ordered on Sept 20th.

But when I checked this evening it said it had shipped! Yay!

And no, I won't have it tomorrow. I was cheap and got the bargain shipping, so if I'm really lucky I'll get it before the weekend ;o).

When anyone goes to an EB Store and picks up a copy or recieves their copy from EB in the mail, please post here. I would love to pick mine up this morning, but work will not let that happen until approximately 5 PM Pacific Time.


With a little luck we will all be playing Civ IV by this afternoon!!!

Well I had to call 12 different stores but finally found one that will have the standard edition today at 1pm. He said they'd definitely have it. So I hope he's right. That's at EBGames in Canton, MA.

There were some other stores that had the pre-release version but not the standard, what's with that? Did they think only pre-order people want the game?

If it was available in Pittsburgh, then it must be in State College too!!! The EB games warehouse is in Coatesville, which is a Philly suburb, so by logic, the closer town I live in should have it if Pittsburgh does.
