Elder Scrolls V: Oblivion Part 2?

They announced it on the VGA awards just now;

Can't wait. So excited :)

Should have known it would be Skyrim, I heard that Bethesda trademarked it years ago.

Yeah, I think I read that some communications company (dunno, phone/mobile I think) was trying to get it, but Beth has had it trademarked for a really long time.

And from what I've heard about the way the studio makes games, it's been in development for a LONG time.

I expect the next novel will also be released soon or just prior to the game's release. Nothing better for the book publisher to capitalize on the rabid elder scrolls fans itching to get back to Tamriel.

OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG!!! :run: :woohoo: :run:

EDIT: Oh no! Oh no! Noo! How am I supposed to live the whole year with that information!? :aargh: Somebody erase my memory!

Can't wait! Skyrim should be very cool to see.

So, dragons, an old enemy, does that mean the force we will need to fight against are the Akaviri?

Yay, doesn't look like it'll be Oblivion Part 2... Yay for cheesy useless trailers with no gameplay video. It's not like they have nothing to show, it's coming out in less than a year.
Maybe they could have shown gameplay, but if it's like the other games, something will go wrong and it will crash for some unknown reason.

I wonder if there will still be Khajits and Argonians? Skyrim is a less friendly environment for them...

There damn better be! I'm going to make my argonian maid to adventure with and I won't settle for anything less!

Also they've had the standard list of races since Arena, I don't see why they'd take out races. There was that Nord in Tribunal where he was naked and complaining that it was too damn hot. Perhaps there'll be an argonian in Skyrim underneath a big pile of furs complaining that it's too damn cold.

Just so you guys know, there will definitely be all of the standard races and possibly new ones (though prolly NPC's only).

SPOILER:

Spoiler :
The big asteroid that hovered above Vivec city (in Morrowind) fell and hit the island when Vivec (the character) was taken/left. So the island that we played on in Elder Scrolls 3 (Vvardenfell) was completely destroyed in an event referred to as "landfall."

So with all that going on, the Argonians in Morrowind that existed as an enslaved race, rose up and cast out the Dunmer. Dunmer refugees fled to Solstheim (the island from the expansion pack Bloodmoon) and maybe to Skyrim as well, I'm not sure.

But that all took place in the first few decades after Oblivion, and ES:V takes place a couple of centuries later. So the races will definitely be more interesting as far as in-game politics and relationships w/ other races go.

I agree that Oblivion seemed to be a bland/generic fantasy setting compared to Morrowind, but let's hope the developers addressed that complaint in the new game :) Shivering Isles was a good one too though.

Also, the island isn't 'gone,' but it was described as pretty much a wasteland. And like I said, it's just that way in the novel, but the game is ~150 yrs after that, so it might have recovered and be even more interesting :)

Based on what was seen in Oblivion and Bloodmoon the Nord towns will be similar to Cyrrodil, just more Scandinavian. Hopefully though they'll include more unique looking locations then they did in Oblivion.

Spoiler :
How could such a small rock damage all of Vvardenfell? If it wrecked the city of Vivec that could make sense, but not the entire island. It wasn't even that high up.

My biggest concern is that it will be far too much snow+mountains. But I've heard that it will be similar to Finland or Scandinavia. And the weather and landscape there are fairly diverse, IIRC.

As long as it's not all like Solstheim or Bruma, I'll be happy.

An in game book guide I read indicated Skyrim has valleys that aren't covered in snow all the time. Of course the developers can alter the world in any way they like, since they are the writers.

Spoiler :
Remember that there is a volcano at the heart of the island and that volcano is the resting place for a god's 'heart' and one of the Towers, I'm willing to suspend my doubts.

And it doesn't matter how high it was. When Vivec (the god) used his powers to halt the asteroid from striking the ground, the asteroid maintained it's original velocity/interia. Bit Vivec held it in place with his magic. So there's that :)
